Product Got a box of the Ritz!

Found them at the Albertsons in Prairieville, Louisiana. They weren't on the shelves yet, but I could see they were there in the app. Person at the store checked the back for me and said that Nabisco had to come put them out on the shelves. They're a little smaller than I remember Ritz being, but they smell and taste like I remember them tasting! (It's been a long time since I've had a normal one though)

Went to my local Safeway and the Nabisco rep was stocking the shelves so I sled him if he had any info on them the Ritz were coming out he said oh I have some on the truck. So he ran to his truck and grab a box of them. So my wife will be the first one in my little town to get them.

Gluten Free Italy! Heavennnnnn

One of my favorite parts of visiting Italy was discovering just how incredible the gluten-free food was. As someone who has to be mindful about gluten, traveling can sometimes feel stressful when it comes to eating out, but Italy completely surprised me in the best way.

From pasta and pizza to desserts, the food was absolutely delicious. What stood out to me just as much, though, was how knowledgeable, accommodating, and respectful everyone was about gluten-free dining. I never felt like an inconvenience for asking questions or needing something prepared differently. Instead, I felt genuinely cared for and was able to enjoy the experience without constantly worrying about what I could eat.

It meant so much to be able to sit down, enjoy amazing food, and be fully present in the experience. Italy, you have my heart. The food was incredible, the hospitality was unmatched, and I will absolutely be dreaming about those gluten-free meals long after this trip.

Already wishing I could go back!

Discussion Nasi Lemak w/ Beef Rendang

Post image

Just wanted to shine the spotlight on Southeast Asian food. people seem to be generally familiar with Vietnamese and Thai food, but Malaysian / Indonesian / Singaporean cuisine doesn't get enough love. They don't generally use soy sauce, or wheat as a thickener. You still have to check, especially for fried rice, but the restaurants I've been to have been pretty knowledgeable about what goes into the food.

The well known dishes like Beef Rendang, Hainanese Chicken, Curry Laksa noodles, are all gluten free (Hainan chicken usually comes with 3 sauces, one soy based so skip if needed) and you can find premade Laksa broth in grocery stores.

This beef Rendang was from Seasons Kitchen in Anaheim, California.

Please share other GF friendly SEA dishes.

Why isn't there a website for gluten-free snacks from around the world?

I've always loved travelling, but since going gluten free, I've discovered a new little hobby: exploring regular supermarkets in the countries I visit to see if I can find anything different from what I can usually get back home.

You know, nowadays most countries have a pretty good variety of gluten-free products (and I really can't complain, living in Italy!), but we're still much more limited than people who can eat gluten. They can just pick up new and interesting snacks whenever they feel like it, without having to worry about checking every ingredient.

I've even found some favourite gluten-free snacks from the UK, Spain, and other countries, but unfortunately, I can't get them delivered to where I live. And being part of gluten-free communities online makes it even worse sometimes, because I often see people sharing snacks I'd absolutely love to try, only to find out they're not available in my country. 😭

I often find myself thinking... I wish someone would create a website where you could buy gluten-free products from all over the world! Imagine being able to discover and order snacks from different countries without having to travel there yourself. 🥹💕

What do you guys think? Would you love something like this too?

Discussion They confirmed celiac disease

I posted on here a few weeks ago about how I was having an endoscopy done and how I was nervous about it because I had never been put under before. Well, I finally did it and everything went great and now I have the official diagnosis. I just wanted to say thanks to everyone who commented on my post about their own experiences, what to expect and how easy it would be. It really helped calm my anxiety before having the procedure done!

Now I have to fully commit to no gluten indefinitely, and I’m starting to get used to having to check food labels for hidden gluten.

GF recipes!

Hey yall I'm not a GF girlie myself but one of my amazing friends is and hates baking. She constantly talks about missing foods that she used to have before she had to go gluten free due to her health issues(not celiac but it makes symptoms 10x worse). I have baked my whole entire life but, never gluten free. I researched how to keep from cross contamination and etc..( I washed out my dishwasher twice before washing the baking ware twice and cleaning my entire kitchen top to bottom) BUT my 1st recipe didnt seem like it came out well. Probably user issue but id love tips, tricks, and recipes for anything! Especially bread and brownies! Thank you have a lovely day!🫶

Oh and any tricks on how to keep bakeware safely in my house for her specifically and what is the safest to bake with tk keep it gluten free!!

As the holidays come up, I find myself craving the specific cookies I’m newly gluten-free and if anyone has a gluten-free brand of these, that is really good. Please let me know because I am already missing them. I would also be very happy with a recipe if any of you have made stuff like this.

Negative celiac bloods, but maybe sensitive?

Hey all,

I’ve suffered for as long as I can remember with chronic fatigue, brain fog, IBS (bloating and horrible smelling wind), hives, joint pain and all sorts.

I’ve noticed a big correlation between gluten consumption and my symptoms. If I eat a large gluten meal, I can barely stay awake. If I eat a large non-gluten meal, I get a little lethargic from digestion but nowhere near to the same level. I notice that after a few days without gluten my energy levels are much more stable.

Has anyone else experienced this? I had a negative celiac blood test quite a few years ago and the dietician told me it’s unlikely gluten is the cause.

I had EBV at 16 and I don’t remember ever really having energy since then.

Question New here…Need help interpreting blood tests

Thumbnail gallery
2 Upvotes

Hi, I’ve had debilitating fatigue, brain fog, headaches for a couple years, female age 45. Been to endocrinologists, rheumatologist, sleep doctors, etc. who can’t find anything. Read that gluten can cause neurological symptoms without gi symptoms in some people, so on my own I got a celiac panel from Quest, while still eating gluten, and it was normal. I gave up gluten anyways just to see if it would help. Not really any improvement in the grogginess and fatigue . Another nurse I went to about fatigue had me take a panel of blood tests, and this Gluten IGG came back high, even though I’ve been off gluten for 4 weeks. So I’m confused now about what my next steps should be. Google is making me more confused, or maybe it’s the brain fog. Should I see an allergist? GI? Or is the IGG meaningless? Thank you for any help!

Gluten Free

What does everyone think about the following:

If a company is going to provide another company with cookies candy etc as a thank you or a marketing advertisement or all our favorites Christmas snacks they should consider employees with celiac disease. Most of the time they are let out of the “Snacking” because they cannot have any of the snack gifts. So please if you are a company providing another company put a little gluten free products. This will make you look like a caring and appreciative company

Question Defeated and need help

My daughter got diagnosed with celiac over a year ago. We have become a 100% gluten and dairy free household. We don’t do oats, pork, and processed foods. We use the app, FIG, to scan every item that comes in our house. We research everything that could go in her mouth - Invisalign, plastic straws, toothpaste, etc. my daughter has been in severe pain since her diagnosis with fatigue, bloating/pressure and pain.

We just moved to another state and have a great new Gastro doctor and are doing all sorts of tests. We just got her blood work back and her gluten (which should be zero) was high. We have no clue where the gluten is coming from and feel so defeated from double checking everything. We are cutting out rice at this point and pretty much only eat fruits, veg and lean meats because we have no clue where this is coming from. Does anyone have any ideas/suggestions that could possibly help us?

Edit: she is 22. We just moved with her into a brand new construction apartment. She works from home so doesn’t take lunch or eat out. We purchased all new things for h TJ is house - so nothing has touched gluten (that we know of). She does not consume alcohol.

Discussion First Thanksgiving Gluten Free

This is my first Thanksgiving gluten free. My family usually goes to my aunts house. My cousin is celiac and my mom is gluten sensitive but isn't as sensitive as I am. The turkey is cooked with the stuffing and carrots. The green bean casserole is made with gluten and the only option I have to eat is the yams and potatos. They also have the opportunity to be cooked with wooden spoons. So essentially I cant eat any of it. My boyfriend is going out of town for Thanksgiving and my family will be going to my aunts. I have the option to be alone at home for Thanksgiving after I work. Or going to be with people and not eating. Both are pretty sad options. I dont know if there is even a good option to seeing if my aunt will change how she prepares the food for me. Any advice would be helpful thanks.

Product Tried these GF Frozen Meatballs today…SO GOOD!!!

Post image
101 Upvotes

Bought these Rosina Gluten Free Meatballs (Italian Style, with Beef/Pork/Chicken) a while back and finally made them tonight. They honestly tasted better than any other frozen meatballs I’ve had in the past! Two thumbs up (same from my dad who is not GF).

I followed the instructions and baked them on a metal pan in the oven at 350 degrees F for 25 mins. The instructions didn’t say to turn them, so when I opened the oven and saw that only the bottoms that touched the pan were browned, I did decide to flip all of them and then put it back in for another like five-ish minutes to brown them on more than one side. I paired these with Barilla GF penne pasta and my favorite spaghetti sauce (Gia Russa Traditional sauce).

I’m located in northeast Ohio and bought these at Giant Eagle for about $7.99 if I remember correctly…or maybe $9.99? Either way, I def recommend!

Ps . My cat Herb wants to try them too but he’s not allowed 😺

New GF bun at City BBQ- ALL OF OHIO

Post image
141 Upvotes

Wanted to share some exciting news for anyone in Ohio looking for more gluten free dining options!

City Barbeque is now offering buns from OMG It's Gluten Free at their Ohio locations!

Excited to see more restaurants adding proper gluten free bread options instead of making everyone settle for a lettuce wrap or no bun at all 😂

Figured this community would appreciate the heads up. Always great seeing more options becoming available!

Has anyone tried one yet? It was delicious!
