Looking for some advice from employees or anyone who has dealt with this specific POS glitch.
Five days ago, I was buying something in-store. The employee scanned and "redeemed" my gift card, but when I went to pay the remaining balance with my debit card, my bank's card processing system went completely down nationwide. The overall transaction couldn't finish and was aborted/voided. I didn't get a receipt because nothing went through.
The issue is that the POS system already deducted the balance from my gift card. It's currently sitting at $0.
I’ve spent the last few days in a customer service loop:
Email support was completely useless.
Called corporate phone support, they told me to call the store to get the transaction log or a void receipt.
Called the store, the employee told me they "wipe transaction logs at the end of every day" (which sounds like BS) and told me only corporate can help.
Called corporate back and forced them to escalate the ticket.
Has anyone seen this happen when a split ransaction fails midway? Is it a "hold" that drops off back onto the gift card automatically after a few business days, or am I going to have to fight with customer service to get my funds back?
