Hi everyone,
Looking for some advice with a clutch issue on my 2005 Suzuki GSX-R1000 K5.
I occasionally get a brief notch or catching/snapping sensation through the clutch lever when performing rev-matched downshifts, seemingly more noticeable at higher RPM.
It feels like momentary resistance through the lever before it releases again. Like it catches briefly?
The strange thing is that the clutch operates completely normally the rest of the time. I can change gears normally, the lever has full travel, and there’s no noticeable notch or resistance during ordinary gear changes.
It seems to happen specifically during rev-matched downshifts at higher RPM and can occur across different gears. I've also noticed that if I only pull the lever slightly, rather than pulling it in further, it happens less frequently.
I'm running ASV clutch levers with the current pivot bushing fitted. I haven't tried oem levers but I had the issue with previously fitted ones of high quality brands too.
I've ridden other bikes for years and have never experienced this before.
What I've tried so far:
- Replaced the clutch cable.
- Checked and corrected cable slack.
- Adjusted clutch free play.
- Replaced the LH clutch pushrod.
- Replaced the relevant pushrod oil seals. (There was a leak)
- Replaced pushrod
- Checked the pushrod operation.
- cleaned pushrod
I haven't yet inspected the clutch plates or clutch basket internally.
Despite replacing the cable and adjusting everything correctly, the issue remains.
I'm wondering whether the ASV lever pivot/bushing could be contributing to the sensation, or whether this is more likely to be something in the clutch release mechanism, pressure plate, clutch basket or gearbox. Such as a notched basket or plates?
Has anyone experienced anything similar on a K5/K6 GSX-R1000?
I'm particularly interested in hearing from anyone who's had a brief notch or catch through the clutch lever during high-RPM rev-matched downshifts, despite normal clutch operation the rest of the time.
What would you investigate next? I'd rather identify the cause before throwing more money at parts.
Its literally the last piece of this builds puzzle and I don't want a nasty surprise when I could just grab a basket and plates now whilst the season has ended.
Thanks in advance!
Pic for attention!

Does not want to come off. I’m guessing I press down and pull it off, but it seems like the thumb was destroyed, so it there any point in pushing down and pulling? Or am I waisting strength and should I just pull it off straight forward without pressing down. Either way it does NOT want to come off

Hi everyone, I just got myself a beautiful K9 600. I'm wondering if it sounds normal as this is my first gixxer and first 4 cylinder in general. It has 41k km (around 30k miles I guess) I'm planning on doing valve clearance soon during the winter. I also find it pretty buzzy at cruising rpms.

Let me begin by saying I’m ok, but a little shaken. I was riding this morning as I often do, early, before traffic gets heavy and kiddos are still snoozing. On my way back home, I was on a sweeping lefthand turn single lane fly-over/over pass to merge onto a major highway and some dipshit in a mustang decided to pass me on the inside of a fucking SINGLE lane on ramp. I wasn’t expecting it, got startled… I stood the bike up momentarily and by the time I collected my shit, I was in the fucking concrete guard rail. I damn near went over the side, which would’ve been a good 60+’ fall onto a busy highway. So if the fall didn’t kill me, the traffic most certainly would have. I was in full gear, which took the brunt of the hit, and I never dropped the bike, just bounced pretty hard off the wall. The fuck face never stopped and I didn’t get a look at the license plate.
At the end of the day I’m fine, just a little sore and some minor road rash on my arm where my jacket got worn through on the concrete rail. But now my confidence is a little shaken. My pants took the brunt of the impact, knee pads and hip pads totally saved the day. I’ve had close calls before but this one is fucking with me a little. Not really looking for advice or anything, maybe just more to vent and try to get this shit out of my head. I’m going to be down for a bit as I repair the side fairings and transmission case. Also, there’s a leak in the radiator somewhere that I’ve yet to be able to find. I plan to just take it to the shop and let the pros handle it. The bike was rideable back to my house which was only a couple miles away. I didn’t even notice the radiator leak until I got parked in the garage and shut down, so it’s not major but obviously needs to be addressed. Anyway, that’s all folks, ride safe and watch out for retards.
EDIT: IMPORTANT! One piece of gear I don’t have but will absolutely be investing in is a camera. Perhaps it would have captured this dickheads license plate.

My throttle cable snapped while riding on fast lane at 165km/h , I had to change 4 other lanes to reach the side of the road for safety. Luckily I made it to safety , vehicles coming behind me at almost 120km/h.
I want to replace the cables , do you think Arashi is better choice that OEM cables

Hello,
I recently got myself a 2016 GSXR 750 that I've been really enjoying for the last few months.
One thing I've noticed that's only starting to bug me recently (I'm quite OCD), is this little jolt that I can feel when I do some little revs in first gear around 10 MPH all while my clutch lever is in.
I suppose it could be a dragging clutch, but my clutch works perfectly in every other scenario; no drag at a stop, no slip. But maybe it's dragging just for a second when at that speed for some reason. I think it's the OEM clutch, which has been in there for 24k miles.
It almost feels like the gears or the crank are shifting into position to start moving the bike, but because the clutch is in, it doesn't actually move my wheel- just a little jolt I can feel underneath me.
I haven't explored how it feels in other gears, but at 0 MPH this jolt disappears, and above 15 or so I also can't feel it.
If someone has a 750 or 600 and wants to try to replicate it, just start going from a stop, get the bike to 12 or so MPH, then pull in your clutch and give it some small revs, maybe just to 4-5k rpm, and see if you feel anything. As I said, the bike isn't pulling or going into my drivetrain that I can tell, just some sort of jolt or decent-sized movement from inside my engine.
Appreciate any help or any advice.
Thanks!

Cylindrical, looks like a shock absorber or compressed air canister of sorts.

What’s going on with the bike market these days? Been looking for another k6/7 gsxr 750 since last year, even with 35k~ miles and beat up; they are at 5-6 grand? Anyone know where to find ones that aren’t molested and crazily priced?

Just picked up a 2017 GSXR1000-R, 23k miles, valves done at 20. It has a full Brock’s system on it and it runs pretty damn rich, pops and dumps like 2 foot blue flames when I let off the throttle at medium-high rpms. Any recommendations on a good tune? I was thinking BT Moto but they don’t offer tunes for it anymore from what I saw on their website.

Dropped my bike 2 weeks ago on its left side and now when I go to turn on the bike it turns on but the gauge cluster doesn’t. Fuel pump primes neutral light is on but the rest does not light up at all. I checked the 10/15fuses under the seat but they’re all fine.
I appreciate the community for recommending this exhaust, shit sounds amazing

Looking to buy a new gsxr750 as my first bike and I have no riding experience and never rode but I plan to take the MSF course and practice with the gsxr after that. I know people said a liter bike is too much but I’ve heard that a 600 is fine so I’m choosing something in between and also I could keep it for longer without needing to upgrade. I have 2 friends that also got into riding a month ago together and one got a ninja 400 and the other got a Yamaha r3 but I want to get a real bike and also something that gives me that aggressive sport bike and track feel. Also I was told by my ninja friend that it would be a bad idea to get the gsxr since I’m going to only wear a helmet because it can be dangerous. But I plan to learn with it slowly like at an empty lot and then go on the freeway/street. Also I just don’t want to wear gear because it’s too much work and it looks good but I’m just fine with a helmet. My friends told me it would be better to start on something like a ninja 4/5 or r3 or mt03/7 but I just don’t want a slow bike and also naked bikes aren’t my thing so that’s that. I want a sportbike and I want a fast one and not a scooter but at the same time I don’t know what’s too much to handle and what’s fine because I have never been on a motorcycle. Also would it be okay to ride if I’m 5ft10 and 120 pounds

My 2007 GSX-R1000 has a full aftermarket exhaust and an ECU flash.
When I turn the ignition on, the fuel pump primes, followed by approximately three seconds of ratcheting/clicking from beneath the fuel tank.
The noise started after my secondary throttle actuator was re-enabled. Previously, it didn’t make this sound.
The bike also hits a wall around 10,000 RPM under heavy throttle across multiple gears, although the engine continues running.
Dealer mode currently shows C46 (exhaust valve actuator).
Could this be a secondary throttle actuator issue, an exhaust servo issue, or something else? Has anyone experienced something similar?
