Replacing cast iron pipes in crawl space (Framingham MA)
Hi all
Looking for some recommendations for plumbers who can help replacing old cast iron pipes in the crawl space under the house. I am a new homeowner and I am just terrified of all the plumbers giving ridiculous quotes around here. I don’t want these people who come with an iPad and build a quote using their fancy software.
Sadly, I have already fallen into the trap and used one such plumber for a big project in the house
~$1500 for replacing Flange and repairing wax seal on one toilet.
~$1500 for snaking the sewer line
AND
~$22000 to replace cast iron pipes in the basement, excavating and replacing cast iron pipes outside the house that go to our septic tank, and replacing water main to the house. This unfortunately did not cover the issues in the whole house because the plumber did not “expect” there were more than one toilet in the house and simply kept reassuring me that this job will take care of all the plumbing issues in the house.
I went ahead with this job to make sure I don’t have to deal with plumbing issues in the house anymore which never happened.
Now, we have been trying to work with them on this and they came to properly diagnose everything and found out that there is a crawl space where rest of the cast iron pipes are accessible and have given an additional $17000 quote for this.
Want to see if anyone here has any recommendations for how I should go ahead with this?
