π Wedding π for a wedding at misi in williamsburg, brooklyn π€
a story told through flowers, from the wild grasses flowing throughout the space to the dark, sculptural forms and delicate, almost weightless stems.
we wanted everything to feel connected, as though the flowers had grown into the space themselves.
a little wild, a little strange, but entirely intentional

π Fun π "I can offer you Flowers", I hope it will inspire people to give flowers to their loved ones
Hello! I'm Marie.
I've made much of my own style about flowers, from my living room to my tattoo, and I even made a game about flowers with 2 friends.
At the moment, the game only features 13 flowers, but I want to add so much more for the full game, like hydrangea, gladiolus and thistle (my favorites).
All the flowers and arts are made by our artist Segosaurus!
We will release the game demo this Monday! It's called "I can offer you Flowers" on Steam. You play as a florist in a community center and create bouquets thought puzzles.
I really hope this will inspire people to give flowers to their loved ones.

π Guidance + Learning π Harder than it looks: UV dip resin flower creation
Some would say that a single datailed flower made from wire and UV dip resin is feels more expensive than other bouquets..do you agree with this and Why?
This is gonna be my first time saying this but, I believe creating a single flower using wire and UV dip resin is harder than it looks and artists charge more because of it.
Hereβs why:
Youβd need tools that are not sold in your area and needs to be shipped internationally.
Careful dipping requires steady hands, but after shaping each petal (approximately 24 petals) you hands will feel like it wants to sleep.
Health risk ! I didnβt realize that making this requires you to wear a MASK!? and GLOVES!? Because apparently the liquid is somehow corrosive/toxic when itβs still liquid form when in contact with skin and inhaled.
Thereβs more reason whyβ¦ but for now these three reason is enough to say βitβs harder than it looksβ and why artists who does this art charge more vs. real flowers and mass produced fake flowers.

π¬ Discussion π¬ New to the subredditβ¦
Hello everyone. Im opening up discussion because I think floristry is something I want to do professionally, and was wondering if the work I have here (plus some others), would be good enough work for a portfolio? Iβm doing a college class for floristry as well at the moment. I want to build my profile and apply for a job, sadly not many near me so I may have to venture out.

π¬ Discussion π¬ Niche interview question
So I was let go from my previous floral job of 3 years after taking fmla :( it's been a few months but now I have an opportunity to interview with a different floral business in town.
I know everyone says this, but I truly believe my firing was unfair and I just didn't have it in me to fight it legally (they told me I was "too negative" for crying sometimes after my mom got cancer and a drain on the department and the store director once told me to my face he just personally didn't like me despite me being a good employee. They also found it inconvient that her surgery was the 26th of December so I wasn't able to work Christmas lol). I've avoided the issue so far because I'm actually using my old managers from that job as references, but this is the first other florist I've applied to and I'm worried they're just going to call the store. (the managers who loved me both left right before my fmla)
Do you guys think I should be honest to them when I give my references? The current manager at the old store will absolutely bad talk me if given the chance and I know the two companies regularly interact, though I would never directly interact with anyone from my previous store. I'm not stressed at all about the actual interview but I'm pretty stressed about this!!

π Fun π Just for fun!
I love making arrangements for fun at home. Mainly with the offerings of TJβs I wonβt lie. Here is a fall Franken-bouquet I made this weekend. I had no idea what rose lilies were but man do they smell so good and they turned from white to a deep, bright pink. Didnβt really work with the rest but itβs all kind of a Frankenstein. Posting to share my hobby. If youβre a pro and you think this sucks, thatβs ok! If I could make a livable wage doing this, I would in a heartbeat knowing I have everything to learn. Maybe someday!
