Activism For those that have DeFlocked their city, state, or council, what was the key to your success?
CitizensGR, our group here in Grand Rapids and the Greater Western Michigan area have been going to city commissions, meeting city commissions, and writing ordinances for the commission. We have sure nudged some of the right people, but after months of effort, it feels like we haven't made the dent that we would like to towards actual policy. We have made our presence known and greatly increased attendance to city commission meetings, most of the commission seems flippant at best.
We have many FOIAs out there and have received quite a few back that has given us information such as contracts and audit logs to bring up in commission meetings, but it feels like many of those facts have been ignored, even if they hear us out in the moment.
For those who have gotten a Flock citizen roadway intelligence, or Axon police squad car Axon ALPRs removed from your city, what methods do you suggest for maximum success? We will be hosting our first event/protest at an intersection coming up, hopefully that at least spreads the news among the public.

News Interview with Darth Vader and national organizer about getting Flock out of townships around the country
Why did Anthony Ralphs need to dress up like Darth Vader to protest Flock cameras in San Diego? After months of showing up and making his case to the city council, it took a Darth Vader costume to get people to pay attention.
Across the US, people like Anthony are pushing back against Flock and other surveillance tech that police and elected officials are eager to install on every corner. From open-source ALPR trackers and campaigns to cancel Flock contracts to political theater like Anthony’s Darth speech, people are finding ways to fight back against being tracked and surveilled.
Sarah Hamid from EFF calls Flock and other automated license plate readers (ALPRs) ‘carceral technology’ - tools used to facilitate the capture and coercion of entire groups of people. She connects the spread of Flock with America’s long history of using military technology to exert and consolidate power.

Discussion Flock camera installer near Atlanta called police on an InvestigateTV reporter for filming him from a public road
We got into this one on Hide & Speak. An InvestigateTV reporter drove out to document a Flock camera being installed on a suburban street near Atlanta. Press placard on the car, press vest, filming in public. The installer called and told the dispatcher he was being followed. Minutes later in Milton, Georgia, police pulled the reporter over, and two more units showed up.
