The Zodiac Age Thank you RNG Gods
Got lucky. Just need 1 more ribbon in Pharos-Subterra. Couldn’t get to spawn Niho on Henne Mines so just obtained it from the Bazaar.

Lots of people don't know that i've already released my Ivalice Together coop mod.

I'm finally doing a run where I'm attempting to clear as much content as possible when Larsa joins your party the second time. What's the most amount of content you've cleared with him?
Currently all the way out into the Necrohol and picked up two of the end game white magicks (plus got lucky with some Hermes boots).
Seems like the biggest challenge is only having access to level 2 black mage spells, for now. Soon I'll try some level V hunt marks.

I do this all the time. I spent some time with a friendly Gariff hunter near Jahara and made a video note of things I noticed: they're immune to Bubble, you can't target them with an attack (probably because it wouldn't fit the story thematically), and he turns around as if to look at you XD.

Do you see any connection between this unsightly green Esper and the Celtic or Irish mythological hero-warrior Cú Chulainn?
And when I first saw this particular summon from FFXII, I never would have guessed that he was a Scorpio. I thought he was meant to look like a giant poisonous frog.
Should the character designers have made him look more like a scorpion?
By the way, is this red-and-green, sword-like blade, which is stuck in this creature, running from its head down to its neck, meant to represent a piercing?

Playing TZA on switch. I’m looking for semi lore accurate job pairings to take on the end game. I just got to Balfonheim and purposely tried to keep my level low so all my characters are 36-37. Things are getting hard so I need to shake up my classes and then gain some levels. I want my characters to have an equal amount of useful abilities and things to do. I had Vaan as a Shikari/monk and felt like all he was good for was tank and attack. On the opposite end I was a White Mage/Red Mage with Panelo and had so many wasted spells I never used, so looking for a happy medium. For this reason I would like to keep all 4 mage specs separate.
So far I have:
Vaan Red Mage/??
Balthier ??
Fran Time Mage/Uhlan
Basche Knight/??
Ashe Black Mage/Archer
Panelo White Mage/Machinist
These aren’t set in stone and I would rather have Vaan as an Uhlan/Time mage but I just don’t see it as a job for a kid and it fits Frans body better.

Ivalician's!
I'm currently working on a project where I'm adapting one song from every Final Fantasy game into a metal style for an eventual full album - FFXII was next up, and it may feel like an odd choice given how happy and upbeat it is - but it's one of the only tracks on the OST with an actual repeating motif!
Please enjoy!

So I wouldn't want to play the OG PS2 version, I THINK- Everyone says the speed-up from TZA makes this one a chore to get through, but does it really?
I tried TZA, but those license boards fill up mega fast, and I assume the same is true for IJS. I read online that doing every hunt, which I would want to, would leave me vastly out levelling the main game.
I was looking at mods for TZA, where you can get the OG License Board back, but I doubt the game is balanced for that and that I'd blast through it too easily.
I know there's a Hard Mode difficulty. Would it be worth taking someone's save, who has already beaten the game, and then starting from there, or would I be missing out on too much?

Zodiark might be lower level than yiazmat and omega mark but his the boss that gave me the hardest time in my first playthrough years ago. Sure you could steamroll him if you High level with strong weapons but at level 60s at the time he was a pain

Hello, just picked up the game yesterday and played a couple hours. Anything I should know going into it? Beginner tips, do's and dont's, mechanical quirks? I'm relatively new to the final fantasy series in general, the only games i've played have been 14, 10 (which I finished), and 10-2, so there's likely gaps in my knowledge that long time fans would intuitively get.

What a ride. I think I am now forever spoiled when it comes to gear/itemization in RPGs. Every piece of loot in the second half of the game felt situationally important, the environments were alive, full of secret enemy spawns and dynamic weather, pursuing and beating optional dungeons and bosses were worth the time spent. The depth of side quests and optional activities gave me so many options to pursue. The beautiful art style holds up strong even with outdated graphical performance. Sadly, I don't know that we will ever see another world as alive as Ivalice. My only complaints were that the story felt a little flat overall, but I did enjoy the more grounded/serious tone. Also I would have liked to have more Gambit options as I couldn't always do what I had wanted to set up. And buffs need to last longer lol. I browsed mods, and there is some seemingly fantastic content out there that I might have to try some day.
Conclusion: The game is an ambitious masterpiece that is not talked about nearly enough.

I think I started using guides online some time after finishing ff12 years back and was surprised how obscure certain things in the game was like some bazaar goods, side quests like hell wyrm, omega mark 12 etc, and most famously getting the zodiac spear by not opening certain chests. Forced me to start a new playthrough. This game definitely got a number of guide heavy moments

Playing the PS2 original version.
My characters are level 38-39.
The game so far has been relatively easy. A few battles were sketchy but managed through.
I've now reached Cerobi Steppe and the difficulty spike is incredible. The coeurls and hyena type are ok but the dragons, birds and the shield rhino thing are extremely difficult.
It's fun though, they require strategies to beat.
My question is , is the difficulty of Cerobi Steppe how it'll be for the future areas or is it just some random spike that evens out after?

I'd like to run Vaan, Basch and Balthier. I also love mages and would like to have plenty of them in my party. This is my first time playing.
I'm thinking Time Mage/Monk (Vaan), Black Mage/Knight (Basch) and White Mage/Machinist (Balthier)
Does that sound ok? Do you think Red Mage/Knight would be better? I usually love red mages but without fencing weapons I don't think they're as cool.
Also, is it better to start with the physical classes or the magic ones?
Thanks!! :)

This is the third major time I play the game. First one in like 2010-2011, OG version on PS2, then earlier this decade The Zodiac Age on PS4, really great, even got platinum (here's my post from an old deleted account), and now I'm finally getting some time to enjoy PS2 emulation with my controller gamepad to download the AetherSX2 emulator and of course the first childhood game I'm gonna be playing on the go through all my spare time is FF12 again, and I had to make it the OG version cause I missed the unbalanced, completely insane job system of the original version lol, plus there's a bunch of other different stuff that make both versions stand out, so I really wanna relieve that raw OG experience a second time, but this time having matured a lot in the game.
Anyways, here's this. This is still early in the game's prologue, before you even go get the Sunstones. I was just checking out the bazaar, and this weird little effect right by the door where the gang lies low and hides after King Raithwall's tomb. There's this weird sunshine thing. The only major graphical mod I'm using in this emulation, besides stretching the game's normal optional widescreen ratio (16:9) to ultra-widescreen (21:9) fill my phone's screen, is running it at 2x rendering, which is still perfectly fine and almost without a hitch.
So I was wondering, is this misplaced sunshine thing a bit that's happening only to me, or is it typical of PS2 emulation across android, PC, etc? Or did this also happen when actually running the game disc in a real physical PS2?

I can't justify $150ish for a DS just to play one game, but I am interested in how they follow up the story of 12.

Enemies wont be Un-scathed LOL!
Ok seriously, I know physical does more damage but this is nothing to sneeze at. It has a lot of power and has no way to be halved.
