Hello. I'm working on a prospective members project for my FSAE team for aero to make a rear wing under the 2026 rules with a certain number of downforce. I started from less than nothing; i bailed out of my ap physics class in high school, but I still learned Aerodynamics from videos and parts of books. I understand it enough to atleast not be that confused, and it took around a couple of months but I did end up figuring it out. Though, I'm realizing a question I never asked was whether I can or even should put the wing on a car. Sure, I made the wing reach the number, but would it work in truth? With me not taking into account either manufacturing or mounting: I can't say no. I'm gonna present tomorrow, and I probably wont be getting in this go around maybe. I'd still want to know where I can learn. I've seen some videos and heard some snippets from the team's discord, but I want to know enough to present something of actual substance next time.

I shared recently but pushed quite a few updates to wrap up the vehicle design flow. Initial setup -> step response analysis -> damper curve fitment -> graphical tool for suspension kinematics in heave, steering, and roll scenarios -> lateral load distribution analysis -> cad export as step or STL. It's all there and more. It's a set of tools I use for work that I'm hoping others can use as well. Feel free to ask any questions.

Greetings everyone, I am Akshat Jain from Spark Racing Team.
Does anyone know the minimum thickness of the Dowsil RTV SE 9168 for which it is V-0. If someone knows please let me know or if anyone uses a different UL94 V-0 rated adhesive which has known minimum thickness please let me know.

My son wants to 3D print F1 rear wings from over the years, to test their downforce in a homemade wind tunnel.
Are there any recommended resources for such information?

Hi everyone,
I am really interested in vehicle dynamics and tyre modelling and would like to pursue a career in driver-in-the-loop (DiL) simulation.
I've been working towards developing my skills in MATLAB, Python, and C++ in more depth, alongside working on a personal project to build my technical knowledge.
For those working in DiL simulation or related fields, what would you recommend focusing on to improve my chances of landing a graduate or entry-level role? Any advice on useful skills, tools, projects, or companies to look into would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
hi everyone, we've been using the autodesk fusion generative design tool as optimization software for e.g. uprights and rockers for the past few years. during competitions i talked to a team that used nTop - and because ive never heard of it i wanted to take it look if its any good.
does someone perchance have experiences with both softwares and can recommend when to use what? if theres anything missing from my part for your assessment please ask away!
thank you!

We are having problems understanding this particular rule from FSG 2027, is there anyone that could explain it to us? T 3.15.5 The rear impact structure must be positioned such that its diagonal member or equivalent composite structure reacts the loads induced by the IA during vehicle impact, for any position of the minimum IA volume up to 350 mm above the ground.

Hey everyone! I’m from a school with a fairly small FSAE team and this is my first year joining, so I’m still learning a lot about FSAE aswell as racecars and the engineering behind them, in general. This is our first year doing aero on our EV car and I was trying to research ways to manage airflow around the sides of the car. But, I’m getting a little confused because my lead had mentioned side diffusers but most of the reasearch I’m seeing only talks about the rear diffuser or side wings? Are side wings and side diffusers the same thing? How do they look on a FSAE car? Sorry if this is like a stupid question but appreciate any help!

Hey everyone, I made a MATLAB script that maps a track using a .gpx file. It's intended to be used on CarSim (simulation software my team uses), but maybe it'll help out some of you; the output are csv files that contain elevation, curvature, and xyz positions. However, the text is all in portuguese, but all the instructions are in the README and the pdf TRACK_MAPPING_GUIDE. The pipeline is very simple, just: plot a route using plotaroute.com -> download gpx file -> run in matlab

Hey everyone,
We are currently using KBX Vespa brake calipers for our Formula Student/EV prototype vehicle, but we haven't been able to find an official datasheet or detailed technical specifications for them.
We need the specifications for our brake system design and calculations, particularly for brake force and torque calculations and brake system validation.

Hi guys!
We are going to use the CP2 engine for our next car but we have trouble finding the CAD model. If there's someone willing to send us one? We would really appreciate it! ❤️🫂

Our Formula Student car uses a Honda cb600f with the stock motorcycle ECU.
We removed the original IACV because its idle-air bypass allows air to enter the engine without passing through the restrictor, which conflicts with the requirement that all engine airflow must pass through it.
Currently, we adjust the throttle stop screw manually to maintain idle speed, but this isn't ideal and may contribute to inconsistent idle behavior.
I'm considering designing a custom throttle body that integrates the mechanical butterfly valve and the original IACV, with a redesigned bypass passage that joins the main intake upstream of the restrictor.
We want to retain the stock ECU and avoid ETC .
My questions are:
Has anyone implemented a similar design?
Can the original IACV be relocated while retaining its stock ECU control?
Could this design cause idle-control or airflow-distribution issues across the four cylinders?
Are there any conflicts with the rules?

Just trying to learn why eLSDs from what I saw aren't used at all in fsae? Haven't done too much research but just thought I'd ask here.

Hi Everyone, Always with the Accumulator design for our EV, im now in simulation phase so i need the Vocv(SOC) graphs of the cells, molicel cells provide these graphs on the data sheet but for samsung for example i didnt find that , so if you know any validated resources please share! and also for those who i cant get them. is it precise enough to take the nominal voltage of the cell at 3.6v so i take in consideration for the voltage sag only the RI square factor.

Quite a straightforward question. With opinions on AI being very different in engineering, I was wondering how teams have adapted, implemented it into their processes? What’s a cool application you’ve found that has helped your team? What tools have been created?
What’s the opinion of your team, have you found it helpful, or a distraction to the overall goal of Formula Student?

Hi all. Looking for a confirmation regarding an abnormality in our suspensions. For last year's car, when we jack up the whole vehicle and started shaking the rear wheels, we noticed there were micro wiggles when we are wiggling the wheels both vertically (shaken from positions 12 and 6 o'clock) and horizontally (Shaken from position 9 and 3). We then measured the displacement using a dial indicator. Our results were that the vertical wiggle displaced roughly 0.2mm of our wheel, while horizontal wiggle displaced it at roughly 0.5mm. We were wondering if these micro wiggles are natural, or that there might be a deeper problem. If there is a problem, would you mind sharing what are the common causes or troubleshoots for it? Thank you very much

Hi everyone,
I have been using rapid harness to desing the wiring of a system. Altough the rapid harness software has 95 + million parts from octopart, it looks like a lot of parts are missing. For example any conector from Molex, Hirose and others do not appear. Mostly Deutsch DT Series appear. Has anyone already made some libraries available to share ? Did you made all your needed connectors and parts ?
Thanks in advance for the help.

Hey yall I'm from Northeastern Electric racing in Boston and for our EV this year we usually are able to apply for the Analog/Tesla battery sponsorship that is available to all EV teams, but we are unfortunately uneligible this year, meaning we have to buy all of our batteries with our own funds. Since we had the sponsorship for the last two years, our battery pack design is based off of the cells that they were giving out for the sponsorship (which happen to be the Molicell 21700 P50Bs) and we are too late in the design process to fully redesign our pack, so since battery sourcing can be sparce and expensive we were wondering if any New England teams may want to do a bulk battery order with us in order to ease the cost/sourcing issues or maybe trade some spare cells that would be awesome

we are looking to implement Outboard motors this time and i want to know what the rule above needs, and theres another requirement for a suspension interlock such that the shutdown circuit opens when a suspension member fails, how did you apply this, as much as you can comfortably share, please do.
