3. When Rejection Cuts Deep
Let's talk about something tender this morning: rejection.
Whenever I bring this up, heads nod. Because everybody's got a story. Maybe you've walked into a room and felt completely invisible. Conversations stopped, or nobody even glanced your way. Maybe it happened at work, where colleagues barely engage with you. Maybe, and this one really stings, it happened in a church, where nobody said hello.
Or it's the small stuff that adds up, like sitting in a restaurant and watching other people get served first even though you arrived before them. It sounds petty until you realize it's one more quiet message: you don't matter much.
Here's what I've noticed. Those moments don't stay small. They pile up. Over time they create a painful sense of being unwanted or irrelevant. And we live in a world where it's way too easy to feel that way. So many people feel unloved and unappreciated, and hatred seems louder than ever.
Being accepted exactly as you are, with no pretending and no conditions, is one of the greatest gifts a person can receive. When it's missing, we feel it in our bones.
So if you're carrying some of that today, I want to say something plainly: I'm sorry. Those hurts are real, and you're not silly for feeling them.
But I also want to point you somewhere. The whole point of this journey is that there's a Father who doesn't do rejection. Not a little, not on bad days, not ever.
We're going to walk toward that truth together over the next several posts. For today, just be honest with yourself about where it hurts. Healing starts with an honest look.
Coffee-time question: What's one moment of rejection you've been quietly carrying around?
