Hi everyone, does anyone have a child who attends Colchester County High School for Girls but lives in Benfleet/rayleigh area and can share how they travel there and back each day please?
My daughter has recently done her 11+ and whilst she always had her heart set on Westcliff, she scored highly enough for CCHSG and would like to consider it. I’m just wanting to weigh up travel options before we potentially write it off.
Thank you!

Me and my family have just moved to Benfleet from canvey
First off we can't believe how quiet it is here we have been sleeping like babies minus our baby keeping us up all night
Are there any recommendations on parks for the kids or restaurants barbers chip shops ?
I know canvey isn't a thousand miles away but It does feel different in a way

On October 25th, We're looking for stuff to do for a few hours between Cambridge and Harwich.
We're flying in to Stansted and taking the train to Cambridge to pick up a car. Car should be bought at around 1pm - 2pm.
We're driving it to Harwich, where the boat to mainland EU leaves at 10pm. The drive shouldn't take more than 2.5 hours. This gives us 7 or so hours to kill.
We're both proper blokes who love old machines and mechanical stuff. If anyone has some recommendations for something we'd like, please share!
Ideas:
- Karting track
- War / car / plane museum
- Good driving road
- Spot to take pictures of the new car
- Somewhere to grab dinner

I expect to be very very unsuccessful with this search. But I have been learning Spanish since May this year and would love to speed up / enhance my learning by speaking face to face with someone who knows the language natively or completely fluidly who is able to correct me 100% accurately.
Rather than just meet up at cafe's etc. I thought it would be cool & fun to combine the talking with playing golf as it's a dedicated few hours out on the course.
Anyway, fingers crossed!!

Hey peeps,
This is the first year I'm living in Essex having moved here from Kent.
Are there neighbourhoods around the Brentwood area that people know are friendly to trick or treating? We moved into a flat so haven't seen many pumpkins out understandably.
I know the holiday is a bit American but growing up in Kent I used to love it.
If it's really not a thing, are there any local events on?
Thanks all in advance

Got something broken? Don't throw it away just yet!
Our volunteer repairers are back at East Essex Hackspace in Hawkwell TODAY (Sunday 11th October), from 10am to 1pm, helping give broken items a second chance.
Bring along your broken household items, small electrical appliances, gadgets, toys and other bits and pieces. Our volunteers will do their best to diagnose the problem and, where possible, get things working again.
🛠️ When: Today, Sunday 11th October, 10am–1pm 📍 Where: East Essex Hackspace, Hawkwell Pavilion, Hawkwell 💷 Cost: Free to attend. Donations welcome!
We're a volunteer-run charity promoting repairing, reusing and sharing skills rather than sending perfectly repairable things to landfill.
Whether you've got something that needs fixing or you're just curious about what we do, come along and say hello!
Save money, reduce waste and keep things out of landfill! ♻️

Hello Everyone, hoping for some honest local advice, please.
I am in the process of moving out of London with my family and buying our first family home in Chelmsford.
We've recently had an offer accepted on a property in Galleywood, although we were also considering Great Baddow before our offer there wasn't accepted.
We're a Black African Muslim family with two young children in primary school, and we're hoping this will be a long-term move rather than somewhere we'll outgrow in a few years.
I'd really appreciate some genuine opinions from people who know the area well.
How do families find Galleywood in terms of:
Community spirit
Schools
Diversity
General friendliness
Raising children
Long-term family life
To be clear, I'm not looking for a perfectly diverse area or expecting everyone to look like us. My main concern is simply whether it's a welcoming place where my children can grow up happily, make friends, and not feel out of place or face hostility because of their background.
We've visited several times and really liked the feel of the area, but I know living somewhere is very different from viewing a house for 30 minutes.
If you were raising a young family and planning to stay for 10+ years, how would you feel about Galleywood? And for those who know both areas, how would you compare it to Great Baddow?
I'd genuinely appreciate honest and respectful feedback from residents.
Thank you all in advance

Does nobody own or look after the horses at Davy Down? (near Grays) I’ve never seen wild horses with their manes and tails in dreads before. :(
