Discussion Alexis and the Marc Jennings situation
It doesn't sit right with me that Alexis never faced any real consequences for what she did. And how the narrative seemingly forgives her. S1 Blake would have stopped at nothing until justice was served but somehow both Blake and Cristal let her get away with it.
At the courthouse, in S3, Alexis told Fallon that she let a murderer go free (the murderer being Blake) but Alexis is a murderer as well. The show lets Blake face some consequences for Mack, however short-lived. He loses basically everything. But Alexis gets a redemption arc.
I also want to talk about the different Alexis portrayals (I'll be referring to Nicollette's Alexis as Alexis Carrington and Elaine Hendrix's Alexis as Alexis Colby) . Nicollette Sheridan was phenomenal. Alexis Carrington was a true soap opera villain. I hated her. That's why she's such a good villain and why I loved her. Elaine Hendrix was good, she introduced a morally gray aspect to the character as opposed to the true villain Alexis Carrington was. I have mixed feelings about Alexis Colby. There were some instances where I really found myself rooting for her. And I have a love/hate relationship with her redemption arc. I do love a good redemption arc but Alexis doesn't deserve one. Alexis Carrington was cold, calculating, vindictive, callous, cruel, selfish, and the list goes on. Alexis Colby was still selfish but she wasn't as cold or calculating and I really think she loves her kids, in a twisted way. And I like that Alexis Carrington left, she was incredibly entertaining but I genuinely might not have finished the series if she stayed. She was entertaining but she was also infuriating because of the lack of consequences. So I love both for different reasons. And I think it's good that Alexis Colby entered but the characters are so different that I don't really see them as the same person.
Thank you for reading my ramblings and please tell me your thoughts :)
