Sometimes I talk about light, contrast, capturing the mood and whatnot.. and sometimes i see (how do I say this without sounding crude?) a great erm composition. And then I just want to capture them that. Great light. Big red. Rotten chain, never doing that again. Overall, it was a pleasant Sunday.

Started this one weeks ago. The first I have no progress off (last in the series), but it was jarring (first world problem). Trying to capture the curves, light, skintone, muscle, and flesh, I wanted everything, everywhere, each detail. (Oh, pitiful artist, hear his plea). Went full gouache on it, love/hated the outcome, and tossed the thought of it. It gnawed on me. Restarted the way watercolors should be without thinking too much on form. Gouache would fix it. Lo and behold, where I first spent days, it came in hours. It's far from perfect, but I can put this quest at rest. Blood, sweat, and tears, fans and fellow painters. It is the pinnacle of art, and you'll learn to love it.
