DCP and Disney Professional Internship

Hi y’all. So I posted about this a couple days ago, but I had another question about DPI and DCP. I have been looking at previous posts about professional internships and they are saying that people have a higher chance at landing a professional internship if they are on the Disney college program. I wanted to ask if that is true? And if so, how does the timeline work. I was planning on applying to professional internships for spring or 2028 and if I don’t get in to do the Disney college program.

My only hang up is that I would graduate my program in August of 2028. So if I were to do the dcp, I would need to apply for an internship again for summer/fall of 2028. I was wondering if this is too tight of a timeline. I am about to enroll in wgu with a lot of transfer credits for their cloud and network engineering program and was hoping to do a DPI in tech for a semester since I am completely online. I would do the college program or internship sooner, however, my job is going to be paying most my tuition (I work for Amazon). And before yall get on me for maybe leaving Amazon, I will be working in a warehouse.

I want to use the job as a stepping stone into advancing my career and I think a Disney internship would be a great option, especially since some offer housing. I also have another option which sounds insane and it is to do the dcp and enroll in a second program. I know that sounds excessive but I have already considered that since most of my degree would transfer into the other degree and I could finish that in two additional semesters.

I was just wondering how I should go about getting a professional internship. I know that tech jobs are hard to get. By the time of application I will have many certifications and projects to put on my resume and portfolio. And I know internships at Disney is hard to get without connections or knowing somebody. I also know this subreddit is mostly for the dcp but I don’t know any other subreddits to post this in.

I don’t have a lot of connections with Disney other than one person and she works for animation not Walt Disney world or the tech side. I thought of maybe reaching out to her to see if she could refer me to anyone. To maybe making a connection. But I haven’t talked to her in years.

I know the dcp is a good way to utilize networking events but my mom thinks the program is a waste of time and that working at an Amazon warehouse for an extra dollar an hour is going to somehow make my career fly. If y’all have any advice for me I would really appreciate it.

Departure Q - Unanswered Self Terming Due to Grad School?

Hey everyone, I'm sure this gets asked often so I apologize, but I can't find anything about this specific kind of situation yet so yeah.

I just got accepted and was/am super excited, but the earliest departure date has moved dramatically from when I originally applied, and now I'm not sure how feasible the program is. originally the earliest was June 3rd which was perfect for me. I graduate May 15th and have my Masters program starting end of May, start of June. The dates filled up now, and the earliest is July 29th lol. I know that was always a risk of filling up, but that's just an incredibly different date. I can't even go to graduation and work til like a week before grad school starts with this date.

All of that is to say I'm kind of at a loss right now. I'd love to do the program, but I need to put my academics first. Is there any way to appeal this besides the traditional 3 week early release? Is the only option to self term? I'd like to avoid doing so at any costs, but I'd have no choice, besdies not doing the program. And if I don't do it now, I won't be able to ever.

If I do have to self term, is there any consequences besides no certificate, having to pay rent for the last week I'm there, and the no rehiring list? Thanks for y'all's time.

EDIT: with the 6/3/27 date, I would have requested early release for academics, which would have put me back home a day before graduation and was genuienly perfect.

Disney Professional Internship Housing

Hi everyone! I recently accepted a Disney PI starting in January and I want to live at Flamingo but I was informed that I am not guaranteed a spot living there. Does anyone know how hard it is as a PI to get housing at Flamingo? Additionally, since I do not know exactly where I will be working- I imagine it is not on the bus loop- what are my odds of getting a parking spot? I will essentially need a parking spot I think, I do not know what my other options would be. Am I better off skipping the Flamingo process and looking for an external apartment? Please give me any of your thoughts/experiences!

Thanks!!

How necessary is Facebook?

Just like the title says, how necessary is Facebook for DCP? I've never made a Facebook account before as I've never really needed one and I don't particularly want to need to make one now but so frequently I see people directing others to various Facebook groups for a lot of different questions, social groups, trading shifts, etc. so now I'm really wondering if there are good alternatives (mostly for things like trading shifts) I can use or if I really should bite the bullet and make a Facebook account.

Graduating while doing DCP

has anyone done the DCP while in their final semester, and if so how did it work? I would like be here for graduation, but the program doesn’t end until June I see. Sorry if this is a silly question
Edit: would I be able to go home to walk at graduation? Did your school let you still walk without being there for the semester. I was just more looking into how it worked for each person. Hope this clears it up

Move-in / Start Date

Hey so sorry if this is a dumb question, but is the date we chose to start the program our start date to work or our move-in date? I'm assuming it's when we actually begin working, but how far before that date do people typically move-in? I'm trying to plannwhat day I will actually be leaving to move-in.

are CPS eligible for aspire?

i’ve been trying to get a meeting with my CP Champion at my location, to no avail.
i’ve left her my number, she knows my schedule and we just keep missing each other.

i just want to know;
1). are you eligible as a program participant or do i have to be pt/ft?
and
2). how long does one have to work for the company to apply?

that’s the whole reason i even decided to participate in this program to begin with. i just need money for school 😩😩

Parents & Move-in

For move-in, I was planning on flying to Florida alone a day or two before and then getting dropped off at Flamingo. In a group chat, I was surprised to learn that most people plan to bring their parents and other family members with them to help move-in, even if they're flying from far away. Is that common? Is it helpful/necessary? Mainly wondering if there is a logistical reason or just sentimental.

Disney professional internships post grad?

Hi, I was wondering if people could do a Disney professional internships postgrad, like after you graduate. The only reason I ask is because I plan to attend wgu for their cloud and network engineering program and hope to do a professional internships in spring 2028 or later. Only thing is I may graduate before spring. That is possible because of all of my transfer credits. I may graduate next fall or spring of 28’. I was wondering if it’s possible to do it postgrad or not. I know this is mainly for the college program but I can’t find any other subreddits to post this in and I know some people do an internship post-dcp.If y’all have any insight on this it would be great. The internships don’t say if you can’t do it postgrad, only that they give preference to juniors or seniors. I plan to apply while still in school so when I am eligible for preference. If this could be answered I would really appreciate it. Thank you!

How is everyone doing with waiting for premium extension offers? Are you still in consideration, did a first or second interview? How’s your timeline looking? Would love to see lots of responses so people can gauge where they might be at in the process :)

Going back to the dcp/ no rehire status.

Its been 4 years since I termed from the dcp becauseof my mental health. I am on the no rehire list.... I brought home my id card on accidentally. But I mailed it back to Disney. I did not bring home any piece of costumes or anything else.... I told my manager I was leaving. Did what I needed to do before leaving the program. So why am I on the no rehire list? I sent a petition like 2 years ago but I got told no.... No reason why..... Im now trying again to petition me coming back. I just sent a message through the dcp program supports.... Im willing to fight back!

Feeling trapped in the Disney bubble

So I’ve been here almost 2 months now and my first week I loved it everyone seemed super nice and everything but now it seems like everyone has all their friends and groups and I’m just kinda on the outside in kinda thing and it’s super discouraging because I constantly see people posting on social media about how amazing this program is meanwhile I just feel like all I do is work and if I’m being honest I’m lowkey sick of the Disney bubble I feel like there’s nothing to do here except go to something Disney related especially because I don’t have a car also I thought there would be more things outside of work to get involved in like events and stuff but there rlly isn’t and if there is it gets booked up so quickly no one else can actually go so unless you’ve made close friends with your coworkers it feels really hard to find a community here which can make it feel very isolating like everyone’s just coming and going to work or to the parks but no one is that willing to make friends outside of their cliques are yall having a similar experience or am I kinda alone in this😭like everyone hyped this program up so much but so far it hasn’t really felt that life changing it honestly kinda just feels like any other job except it’s at Disney

I was not accepted 😭😔

I found out about 2 weeks ago and it took me a bit to actually accept it. I kind of had it in my head that I was getting in. I thought the interview went very well and its annoying that they dont tell you why. This is a dream oppritunity but I dont think I said it in the interview because I didnt want to come off to desperate and needy. I know I can reapply next term for start date of August. But im 23 right now I graduated with my associates in may which still makes me eligible . I would still be eligible next year but still idk where id be at and if I dont get in again Idk if id be eligible after that.

I also had in my head the character performer audition and was planning on going and auditioning then 2 days beforehand I found out I didnt get into the program so at thay point canr do the audition after your not accepted .

Im just really annoyed because I so wanted this oppritunity. I know i can reapply but I graduated with my associates at 23 a few months ago. Idk how much longer id be eligible and I reallyw ant this. If I dont get in for the august one next year pretty sure I cant. I mean there is no age limit but id be really weird being like 30 or 31 doing it with 18 year olds. I am still in early 20s so its ok.

and they cant even tell you why you didn't get in you just have to accept it and move on. I know I need help with interview skills but I thought it went descent. Anyway just looking for advice or some stuff. I would like to do this program it is an amazing oppritunity and working for disney would be a dream come true.

Question about housing for Disney's Hospitality Leadership Program

Hi everyone! I'm interested in applying for Disney's Hospitality Leadership Program and wanted to ask about housing. Does anyone know if participants in this specific program are eligible to live at Flamingo Crossings Village, or do they have to find their own housing?

I'm particularly interested in hearing from anyone who has participated in the program recently. I'd also love to know about housing costs and whether rent is deducted from your paycheck. Thanks!

Any DCP alumni open to sharing post DCP career experiences?

I'm a recent college grad who studied international relations looking to explore more business roles (i.e. strategy, consulting, business development), but have been struggling to find success in the job market.

Disney is one of my top companies, but looking at many of their roles and internship JDs, they all seem to favor students who haven't graduated yet. I am considering whether or not to join the DCP as a way to both be able to experience the sales/company culture (though I know it will be quite different from corporate), perhaps have something on my resume so that it does not have such a large blank spot while also earning money, and also get my foot into the door. My biggest worry, however, is that given how competitive Disney corporate roles are, accepting this role might cement my resume as a very sales/customer-facing look (for context, I have already have a lot of experiences that involve customer service and data entry).

I was wondering if there are any DCP alumni a little further in their careers who are willing to share their experiences with finding work post-program (i.e. how the experience helped/hindered the job search process, any realizations/life learnings, how the DCP career support was, how it informed your own interests)? Or if anyone has any general tips or advice for the Disney job market in general?

Would appreciate any advice!

Car Rentals / Short-Term Leases

Hello all!

I was recently accepted to a Disney Professional Internship last week and I could not be more excited. I live relatively far from Florida and do not have a car to go to Orlando, but I am willing to do whatever it takes to get reliable transportation, as it is a major part of my job. Does anyone know of any short-term car rental companies? I don't need anything fancy-- just 4 wheels and air conditioning :)
