Hello everyone, and welcome to the r/DeusEx community thread, Q4 of 2026!
We are now less than one year away from 2027, the year of Deus Ex: Human Revolution. As I previously stated, HR was the first main game I played in the series, and it will always hold a special place in my heart since it helped me push through a difficult medical condition I had nearly 10 years ago. How are you feeling heading into 2027?
We are still waiting for any news about the future of the IP. There have not been any updates about Deus Ex Remastered since last year. It has not been cancelled (yet).

As we move onward, we would like to remind you that r/DeusEx has a FAQ page which we try to update with official and relevant information only related to Deus Ex as much as possible, we know some people are tired of the usual "which mod to use for DX1?" or "Will there be a new Deus Ex?" or similar threads. So please check the FAQ page before you do post, you may find what you seek.
If you're having trouble running DX1 on your PC, it is recommended to download Kentie's Launcher aka Deus Exe Launcher, which is an executable for Deus Ex 1, it fixes various technical issues related to running on modern computers/laptops, and also helps you tweak and configure the fov and cap the FPS.
You can also check out this spiffy Ultimate beginner's guide to Deus Ex if you're new to DX1, but if you are looking a better and quicker solution, you can skip the previously mentioned guide and try this Vanilla Fixer (by Die4Ever**)** which aims to help you run Deus Ex 1 correctly on modern computers without chaning anything else, which wroks on Linux and Steam Deck too!
As we approach the winter season, I want to wish you all a cozy one :)

I’m gonna be all over the place here but I’ll try to make it digestible because I just have to get it off my chest.
I’m a new fan to the series and this is my first Deus Ex game. I played a little when I was 18 but for some reason it didn’t click so I put it down. 10 years later I decided to pick it back up because I wasn’t sure what to play anymore and didn’t feel like playing multiplayer games. I feel as I age (not that 28 is old) I’ve been wanting to play more single player games instead of the instant dopamine you get when you play multiplayer games. I sometimes wish I never played multiplayer games because i feel like they’ve ruined my attention span.
Anyway this game finally clicked and I just got finished last night with The Missing Link part and I think it’s because now that I’m more of an adult and have more “life experience”, I can really appreciate the amount of depth and how much you can relate the story to what’s going on in the world today like for example, augmentation and the conversation today with AI.
And not to be political here but also how they even talk about the conflict a little with Israel and Palestine in one of the E books. Just so fascinating how the incorporate some real world problems and the discussions on topics that you can relate to today. This part maybe because I’m a little on the spectrum but there are times where I even have to either take a small break or simply pause the game and let my brain just take in all the information. I don’t think I can recall a game that I’ve personally played with this complex of a story. I found myself last night laying in bed not able to sleep just thinking of the story and being wowed at how crazy it all is. Multiplayer games have sadly ruined my attention span a bit but I find myself actively reading a lot of the e books and emails just to get a little more of the world building and i just sit there like holy shit how do you come up with this for a game (in a good way) and my holy shit moments for the writing also comes from me actively writing a sci fi novel myself. I honestly feel bad for the writers in a way that people would possibly skip through some of the E Books because it seems like they really went far and beyond how much they really needed to do to build the world. Some of it feels unnecessary yet they still went out of their way to really write those small E books that I’m sure some people skipped over. If that makes sense.
I haven’t found myself wanting to replay a single player game since I’ve was a little kid both because I can simply just buy a new game after finishing it now vs when I was a kid and I could only play the games I had at the time but I heard there’s a new game + and after getting this far I’m really considering replaying and going for achievements and hopefully understanding the story even more.
I also want to add a side note, I didn’t play the none DC for HR so maybe I don’t understand the problem, but I really enjoyed my time in The Missing Link part and don’t really understand the problem. I thought it was interesting with them giving Black Water more lore instead of just big PMC group. Also yes I did save everyone.
To end this random rant (and I may make edits for more stuff on my mind) I do want to say I’m a little hesitant to play the first game because I know it’s a bit out dated and a part of me doesn’t want to play mankind divided simply because I heard we don’t get an ending to Jensen’s story which is a real shame.

you wake up in a shady detroit clinic smelling like burnt toast and cheap whiskey. the doc smiles and says the surgery went great, but there is a catch: you are legally and physically broke, so you only get ONE basic augmentation installed.

One of the most important things when it comes to stealth games is their level design. Franchises like Splinter Cell, Hitman, Dishonored, and Thief have always succeeded because of the freedom they offer. The same goes for Deus Ex: Mankind Divided. Prague feels like a living, breathing city with apartments, shops, hidden areas, restricted zones, train stations, etc. Going off the beaten path always rewards curiosity and exploration. Entering apartments grants the player access to computers with personal information, emails, etc. You never know what you’ll come across when you login into a system. Whether it’s information that’s tied to a main mission or a piece of data that’s completely unrelated, there’s always something new to discover.
I already mentioned player freedom. You’re never locked into a certain playstyle or gameplay approach. There’s always more than one way to reach a main objective, whether you decide to stealthily knock out a guard, hack security systems, locate an alternate path, or use Adam Jensen’s augmentations. Each mission acts as its own playground, and it’s up to you to decide how you want to experiment. There’s an important thing that’s worth mentioning. You’ll never fail a mission just because you got detected by a guard or security camera. There are consequences, but there isn’t an automatic mission failure. Sure, you can go in guns ablazing, but I wouldn’t recommend it. Using the Glass-Shield Cloaking makes Adam Jensen completely invisible for a short period of time, but it drains his battery faster once he starts moving.
The city of Prague is the perfect backdrop for a stealth game. There are windows to climb through, rooftops to explore, and alleyways to access if you don’t want to attract any unwanted attention. There’s a good amount of environmental storytelling, whether it’s Adam Jensen’s story, how the city treats augmented people, etc. There’s a waypoint marker that guides you toward your current objective, but the game doesn’t constantly hold your hand every step of the way. It trusts and respects the player’s ability to figure things out for themselves. Even though the city of Prague is smaller and more condensed, it’s filled with so many amazing details. Deus Ex: Mankind Divided is 10 years old at this point, but its level design still holds up really well. As of writing this, I’m already considering doing another playthrough.
What do you think of Deus Ex: Mankind Divided’s level design?

Do you think that could be possible because that Embracier group is just trash... they don't give a f about this franshise and won't make games so why even own it? Let someone else make a decent game and you do what you do the best...

I had trouble thinking of any analogy or comparison to DX:IW's artstyle (which is a little hampered but still great in my opinion) other than just calling it "plasic early 2000s sci-fi". Sorry, but the similarity is too uncanny not to mention.

Here’s a look at the new features in DeusEdix, with plenty more on the way! I put this together in just one week.
DeusEdix is aneditor for Deus Ex that can even run in your browser. It supports both the original Deus Ex and Revision, and connects to your existing installation without shipping any Deus Ex game files or assets.
Yes, it’s been vibe-coded, with a lot of passion and plenty of testing along the way. It’s still a work in progress, and there’s more to polish. I’ll be releasing it as open source so we can build on it and make it better together.
Suggestions, ideas, or features you’d love to see? Keep them coming!

I am trying to platinum Deus Ex Mankind Divided on PS4. Some of the trophies require The Breach mode, but unfortunately I am unable to get online.
Do you know what is the state of the servers lately? Is it still possible to play this mode?

Hi everyone! ✨
I'm Alexia, but y'all can call me Lexi 💙
I've been a Deus Ex fan for almost 7 years, but I'm new to Reddit and have no idea how it works 🥲😂
I'm mostly here for Adam Jensen, and I still have a lot to learn about him, also the lore cuz I feel like I know nothing. 🌝
I'd also love to share some of my fanart and maybe even my oc x canon ship!
And I'm lowkey nervous about posting this... 😬

Hey everyone! I've been trying to get through Deus Ex since I've always heard such high acclaim for it. But I keep running into issues with rough mechanics and they usually end up getting me killed or force me to load back. I'm a big fan of thief and didn't have much issues with the mechanics in it and found it to be really amazing. Is there a community mod I'm missing that fixes a lot of the really major issues that get in the way of gameplay? I can't help but feel I'm not playing the same game other people are :(
I'm playing the GOG version with kentie launcher running DirectX 10. Thanks so much everyone for future help! :D

Just beat the first mission, haven’t been spoiled before, so I’m pretty interested story-wise. Only thing I know is that it apparently predicted the future.
Love the gameplay — reminds me of Half-Life and System Shock. Music and overall vibes are off the chart. Love the multiple ways you can approach missions.
Wish me luck 🚬

So I was messing around with an experimental DX12 renderer the other day, and while noclipping through the map, I randomly stumbled upon this hidden section.
It's not normally accessible, though. Looks like some kind of asset testing area or something that the devs forgot to remove.
25+ years later, and this game still manages to surprise me lol.

I really liked the UI of Human Revolution, specially Missions Log, So i made one for myself and now I do my work as Tasks and Missions, both on my computer and mobile.
I tried to make as close to game as possible,
Though I am not sure if semi transparency will work in Mac or every distro of Linux
