Discussion Anyone else feel Degrassi was forgetting the students were supposed to be kids?

I feel like starting from season 10, the kids had way too much adult responsibility that didn't feel realistic. Like the Grundy Awards, Eli's play needing score music, Drew part of a political campaign, big set designs for the theater department. I liked in the older seasons where we saw realistic kid activities where kids were kids instead of the students doing jobs that the adult staff should have covered.

Did anyone else find it super creepy that Craig decided to date/sleep with Manny not too long after saying he couldn't be with her because she reminded him of his sister?? Like, she really didn't look that different, just wore sexier clothes (which makes the whole thing even more gross imo)

Discussion Characters with little to no interaction who would have had amazing chemistry?

I have been rewatching some episodes lately and falling down a total rabbit hole thinking about all the missed dynamics across different seasons. It is so fun to wonder how certain characters would play off each other if they actually crossed paths.

For example, I really feel like Ellie and Eli would have gotten along so well. They share that sarcastic, artistic, slightly edgy vibe and probably would have bonded over writing or music. Another great one is Marco and Imogen. Imogen has that wonderfully theatrical and eccentric energy, and Marco is such a sweet, grounded voice of reason, so watching them together would have been so much fun.

On the romantic side, what about Sean and Bianca? Both started out with that tough outer shell and fierce loyalty to the people they care about. I feel like they would have completely understood each other on a really deep level.

Who are some characters with zero or very little interaction that you think would have had great chemistry, either as friends or as a couple? Drop your thoughts below!

Discussion tori leaving the show is such a shame imo

i really liked tori a lot. i thought she could have easily been a mean girl but instead she was actually super sweet?? she really was a girls' girl, forgave maya almost immediately for kissing zig but was mad at him instead. she was mean to maya about the beauty pageant thing but immediately apologized and was a good friend to maya and tristan?? i feel like we really missed out on having her interact with the NG class. i would've loved to see her around miles or zoe

Rewatch Surprised by this years favorite

• Upvotes

On my annual rewatch, Connor has really stolen the show for me. Idk if it’s the point in my life that I am at or just me coming to terms with being neurodivergent myself, but, I find his unfiltered honesty so refreshing. He is just who he is. I don’t think I have ever had too much of an opinion on him, but I do now.
And I know he doesn’t mean to be, but I find him hilarious.
Case in point:
Drew: “I would like to try out”
Connor: “You need to be smart”
D: “Are you saying I’m not smart?”
C: “Yes.”

Discussion Who’s worse Hunter or Esme?

They both are the absolute worst. I almost want to say hunter is worse maybe because Esme actually went through stuff like her finding her mom after she committed suicide. Hunter was forced into going into the mental health facility which helped him and Esme didn’t have anyone to help her like that. She is still absolutely awful though.

Degrassi: The Next Generation My Least Fave From Every Season of The Next Generation

• Upvotes

Season 1: JT. I’m sorry I know he’s a fave and I def loved him later on but he was just annoying to me.

Season 2: Spinner. Although one of my favorites in the later seasons, I just didn’t really like him this season.

Season 3: Hazel. Just felt really blah. I know alot of people are probably surprised that I haven’t said Ashley yet lol, at least with Ashley you still felt something, for me Hazel was just bland and not really memorable.

Season 4: Marco. Okay please don’t hate me for this but I make found him really annoying this season haha

Season 5: Peter, but just by default

Season 6: Mia. Just wasn’t really as likable as she was in later seasons

Season 7: Surprisingly no one, I think season 7 is one of my favorites.

Season 8: Allie.

Season 9: Allie

Season 10: Allie

Season 11: Katie. Just never really liked her.

Season 12-14 I didn’t see so I wouldn’t really know.

School's Out and to a lesser extent, Degrassi Goes Hollywood and Degrassi Takes Manhattan.
