Saw some fellow detrashers on my route this morning 😎😎😎
I made graphics about the local adopt a street programs in My area and how my area needed help with trash cleanup. Lately I’ve seen more and more problem areas cleaned up and those yellow community cleanup bags. I’m not sure if it’s just a coincidence but it’s real nice to see 😎🙏🏻

10 lbs today. Someone did not pick their bag along the side of the road after it was dropped. Among the branches was 10 lbs of litter.

10 lbs today. Someone did not pick up after their bag fell on the street. So I picked it up. Branches are still there.

Original Content Windy one … 💨
… out there in Old Town this morning. Made things a bit more sporting, as the litter pieces were trying to get away from me!
Have a great weekend, DeTrashers … 👊

My friend and I had 1 hour to pick up as much trash as possible in a Swiss village. We ended up with over 7 kg (15.4 lbs)
Switzerland has this reputation for being the cleanest country on earth, so my friend Sven and I wanted to test that in our local village. We gave ourselves 60 minutes, grabbed two trash pickers and some bags, and made a small bet...the winner gets 10 Rappen (about 11 cents) per gram of collected trash .
Main roads and construction sites were super clean, and at first we thought we wouldn't find much. Then we started checking the bushes, field edges, and side paths. Both of our thin bags ripped halfway through so we had to switch to bigger bags.
In one hour, we picked up 7.3 kg (15.4 lbs) of litter:
- Sven (3.1 kg): a thick piece of copper wire, a rusty metal rod, plastic pipes, a Carrefour bag, a single sock, cans, and someone's abandoned underwear in the grass.
- Deeno (4.2 kg): tons of PET bottles and Red Bull cans, an empty wine bottle in the bushes, and a broken kids' scooter with the metal handlebar lying nearby (which basically won me the weigh-in).
A local guy walking by clapped and cheered us on when he saw what we were doing. If you want to see the full challenge and the weigh-in, here's the video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WkQicGISyAc

Original Content Describe in one word.
In a one word, what name would you give someone who finds enjoyment in discarding garbage bag on a busy roadway?

Probably the worst thing I’ve ever picked up. It smelled like a bag of vomit

Coastal social club
Hi all! I’m moving to Jupiter soon from Annapolis, where I chaired the local Surfrider chapter and ran bay cleanups, other coastal related events. Honestly, the best part was the people.
I’d like to start something similar down here, but more laid-back. Idk, maybe a cleanup followed by coffee, a sunrise/sunset walk, or a paddle on the Intracoastal.
I have may questions, like:
Would a “do something good, then hang out” kind of meetup appeal to you?
What would make you actually show up, and what would be an instant no?
You don’t need to be an expert or an activist. If you just like the beach, your take is exactly what I’m looking for.

Great way to wrap up a summer of detrashing
u/DeleteLitter sent me an email confirmation today that the app team had donated $150 on my behalf to my local pet rescue for being the one to push us over our target for the Delete Litter Summer challenge. 36 people on the app joined in to pick over 200,000 pieces of litter.
Here are a couple photos from my summer of litter picking and my cats who I adopted 6 years ago from said pet rescue. Thanks again u/DeleteLitter! I encourage anyone looking to track their detrashing to download the app. It's free and no ads.
