Video [VIOFO A119 V3] Highway Merge Hit & Run (no audio)

2016 Subaru Impreza merges onto highway. Downshifts and accelerates instead of yield. Had entire right lane open. Decided to cut 2 lanes to left, hit me in middle lane (oops - turns on blinker), car in left lane beeped the horn at him, then merges back into middle lane, driving at traffic pace.

Maybe he didn't check his blind spot, or intentional.

Open to criticism.

Discussion Do NOT BUY No Name dash cam, go with a real brand.

Hi there,

My friend gave me one of those no name dash cams a while back and I ran it without thinking much about it. The rear cam would randomly freeze and drop chunks of recording, but I figured it was good enough. Then I got rear ended at a red light and of course the few minutes around it weren't on the card. The other driver claimed I braked out of nowhere, insurance went with their story, and I ate the whole repair bill myself. That was the last straw. So I did the homework this time. Most of my diving is highway after dark, so the first thing is footage I can actually read at night, plates included, on both the front and the rear. The second is a rear cam that doesn't freeze and drop clips on me again. The a900 is the one that seemed to check those boxes, with true 4k on both cams and the big aperture for low light, so it's at the top of my list now.

The one thing I'm still on the fence about is the 4g parking cable. I get that it's an add on, but I park in open lots a lot and getting a ping if something happens is tempting. Just not sure it's worth the extra spend. So if you're running the a900, how has it been day to day? Mostly wondering if the 4g cable ended up being worth it, and has the parking mode actually caught anything?

Any honest takes are appreciated.

Review [Wolfbox K9 pro] review

Just wanted to share a quick review of this camera from Wolfbox. Full disclosure: I was allowed to keep the camera after completing the review.

I haven’t had a chance to fully put it through its paces just yet. 😅 I still need some time to properly route the wiring through the panels and get everything looking nice and clean, especially when it comes to running the cable to the rear of the car.

That said, my first impressions have been pretty positive. The camera looks great, seems like a solid option, and has performed well during the limited testing I’ve done so far.

I’ve included some pictures and videos showing my first impressions of the camera, as well as the accessories that came with it.

I’m looking forward to exploring more of its features and seeing how it performs over time. Hopefully, this gives anyone in the market for a decent dash cam a little more insight into what this one has to offer.

Overall, so far, so good! 🚗📸 :::

Discussion Vantrue E2 Dual falling every 8 months in CA heat - 3M, glue, and velcro all failed. Any DIY or alternative anti-shake mounts?

Hey fam, there is simply no more road left to run on trying to keep my Vantrue E2 Dual securely mounted. I absolutely love this camera and my Camry, but dealing with this semi-annually has become exhausting.

I’ve been using this setup for over 3 years now, and the adhesive issue is driving me crazy. Because there aren't many dedicated aftermarket anti-shake or mirror mounts compatible with the E2 Dual out of the box, I’ve had to experiment with different techniques over the years: standard 3M adhesive stickers, Duro Super Glue, and even heavy-duty velcro tapes.

None of them work in the long run. The intense California summer heat always wins, it starts with micro-vibrations that ruin the video quality, and eventually, the whole unit drops off the glass. It has fallen at least 8 times so far.

My main goals are rock-solid stability (zero shake for clean video) and permanent longevity so it actually stays stuck.

For those of you in hot climates dealing with heavy dual-lens dashcams: is there a hidden aftermarket bracket hack, a specific industrial adhesive tape (like 3M VHB applied a certain way), or a clever modification you’ve used to make a Vantrue mount bulletproof? I'm open to any remedies at this point!

Discussion Is wiring a mirror dash cam as annoying as it looks?

I keep looking at mirror-style dash cams because the wider rear view sounds useful, and wolfbox is one of the names I keep seeing, but the installation makes me hesitate. Running a rear-camera cable through trim, past airbags, and into a hatch seems like the kind of weekend job that can turn into broken clips and rattles. For people who installed one themselves, was routing the rear cable the hardest part, or did night brightness and parking-mode setup take more adjustment afterward?

Question How often are you checking the SD card before you actually need the footage?

Hello all, so wolfbox came up while I was comparing dash cams, but the part I keep thinking about is not resolution; it is whether the card is still recording months later. I have seen people discover corrupted files only after an incident, which makes the whole setup pointless. For daily drivers, do you format the card on a schedule, review a random clip every few weeks, replace high-endurance cards after a certain period, or rely on the camera warning you when something is wrong?

Question Dashcam and wireless CarPlay with one USB port?

My car has a few USB ports, but only the one by the center console seems to work with CarPlay. The rest seem to just charge. Looking to add a wireless CarPlay adapter and a dash cam, so the adapter would take that one port. Can I just plug the cam into one of the charging ports? Anyone running both? Curious how you have yours hooked up and if you've had any issues.

Question Looking for a dash cam recommendation

Hey, I’m looking for a dash cam for my dad. His criteria:

- no WiFi connection required
- no Chinese app download required
- Immediate playback screen
- he does not plan to hardwire the camera
- under $100 is a PLUS

If there’s any camera out there that fix these features, pls let me know. I highly appreciate it. Thank you

Edit: To add, I’ve checked Google & AI suggestions with my criteria, I was asking here so get real reviews/ recommendations.
