Before drywall goes up: 8 electrical details worth checking
A few things worth walking through with your builder and electrician before everything gets covered:
Outlet locations after furniture is placed, not just on an empty floor plan.
Enough outlets around bathroom vanities.
Switch locations that make sense when entering and leaving rooms.
Power for garage tools, freezers, and future equipment.
Outdoor outlets for the patio, landscaping, and holiday lights.
Dedicated power where appliances or equipment require it.
Locations for internet access points, cameras, and low-voltage wiring.
Photos of wiring locations before the walls are closed.
This isn’t a substitute for your electrician’s plan or local code requirements. It’s a homeowner walkthrough checklist.
If you’ve already built, which electrical detail did you catch just in time — or wish you’d caught earlier?
