I dont think the glue i have is working out very well. Does anyone have any glue suggestions that are super good and reliable?

The first one is the second version of him, had to remake him cause I learned the hard way I have to use a lower gauge wire for smaller joint bends or else it’ll snap. Eyes and mouth can be swapped with magnets but I haven’t made the other pieces yet. Shout out to my mom for her festive fall decor that makes for good pics

I was cleaning my room and found this can of FolkArt Clearcote glaze like this. I've had it for almost 10 years, and I don't recall hearing anything exploding or smelling anything weird before so it must've exploded while I was away somewhere. Should I be worried? or is it only the vapor that messes up the lungs and it's fine once it dries? Is it ok if it's already solidified for who knows how long? Should I go get an x-ray or something?

Note: It was stored in a generic plastic bag in a shoebox, and I almost never open the windows, so could the fumes have reached me at any time after the explosion? Am I cooked?

Hey guys - I was given a half used can of MSC Matte since it’s been pretty hard to find. Ever since I started using it the finish has been drying gloss. I think before it was given to me maybe there was an issue with the particles that mattify the spray.

I ordered a brand new can, will using this one and giving my Barbie a proper spray fix that gloss finish? I really would rather not have to start this project over again. She’s done all except the shine.

Hi guys, so recently I discovered that I could get the Eyeless doll look by buying a doll with painted eyes and using acetone to remove the eye painting. Then the doll would be how I want.

But I have 2 Paola Reina dolls that have eyes that I would like to remove. They are both made from soft vinyl.

Anyone who has done doll customizations have any suggestion on how to make the eye area flat? Any tips will be appreciated. I'm worried if I use some sort of putty I won't be able to get a colour match. Then again I'm also wondering if I could craft skin toned eyes in a different shade and have it look somewhat intentional but still achieve the eyeless effect. One of my dolls is white and the other not pictured here is black. She has her little wig cap because I'm trying to make a wig for her.

I’ve been trying to repair my monster high dolls, and several of the rubber bands have dry rotted. Does anyone have a good brand of real thin rubber bands, that are the same as the bands the dolls come in. The only ones I have are too thick.
Also does anyone know of a good fine comb? Like realllyyyy fine.
Would appreciate some recommendations!!!

hi ppl i need some help with rerooting partlines, why are they so sparse?

ignore my dusty dolls lol, but thatching is so hard and idk how to do it properly. ive watched yt tutorials and making more holes to fill out the bald spots but i just cant do it right 😭 the holes on the partline always split into each other which makes it hard too, i need advice 😭

More info on why I’m needing help with this, I messed up a tutulong face with isopropyl alcohol (tried to clean tough spot, the alcohol didn’t peel on any of the other tutulongs I’d used it on so I thought it would be fine) and it peeled away the top matte layer of the hard vinyl to reveal shininess underneath. I think I buffed out the circumference peeling of the patch  as well as I can and now only need to match the spot finish back to the matte of the rest of the face.

I’m just really worried about this apparent plasticizer leakage out of the vinyl pvc that can happen over time, and that finishes cause leakage to speed up and degrade the finish itself. The tutulong does not have any sticky vinyl breakdown right now, and all results I can find on my concern seem to only account for if degradation/leakage has already far progressed. So that is not my situation and I have no clue what the answer is.

I am absolutely heartbroken for my poor tutulong. 🥺

Preferably something under $10 and also preferably something that can be bought in-store. But other options are welcome too if absolutely necessary. I do have AK ultra matte interactive varnish on the way, planning to dab it on lightly with foam, but while I saw mostly wonderful things about its results on painted items, not much on bare vinyl. So I‘m not sure if that should stick as the plan.

There's a doll I've been wanting really really badly for a couple years now. And she doesn't exist. No company has made anything close to what I want, and I'm actually in a financial low right now so commissioning is completely out of the question (it would be out of the question in the first place-). So im biting the bullet and trying to figure out the most cost effective way to make her, and cry about imperfections later

What I want is a Deer doll - No, not Isi dawndancer i don't feel comfortable having that doll. I want a doll, that is articulated and posable and 1:6 scale and can fit into most standard doll things and i want her to have a deer head, not a human face with a painted nose and some antlers. dont even want antlers

Initially I wanted her 3d printed, but that would take so much energy I do not have. So I was hoping that maybe just finding an inexpensive doll to customize her head into what I want would work, I just need to know what the best base and clay to use would be to sculpt her head at the very least. I have some sealed clay somewhere but I'll look for it later. As for a base as I've said I want something articulated and posable. My first pick was G3 Draculara cause of her shape and height, buuut I'm not sure. for some reason the doll world has some type of vendetta towards barbie's made to move bodies? does anyone know what that's about?

Regardless, I'm coming here seeking advice from customizers who know what they're doing, any help is severely appreciated as i dizzyingly daydream about a doll that may never exist

I’m slowly but surely making progress on my 1/6 scale Ryland Grace custom. I finally finished a full reroot, and I’m waiting on the glue to dry so I can do a boil-wash, then (gulp) the haircut. He’s currently somewhere between Emperor Comatose stage or Fabio given the volume that nylon hair yields. What’s your vote? Should I get him a faux bedsheet toga, or photoshop him into a tawdry romance novel cover?

Praying I didn’t actually root the hair TOO thickly. Boil-washing should make the volume much more manageable. I’m used to doing long haircuts on my rerooted custom dolls, not very short hairstyles, so we’ll see how this goes.

This is not his permanent outfit. I’ve got materials for a red and yellow spacesuit each, and a black and white t-shirt each. Trying to tell myself I need to finish those first before I try to make the fun “Life on Erid” look with arm-crutch and jingly Eridian-style jewelry, inspired by a number of really cool fanart pieces I’ve seen on Insta.

1/6 3D-printed Rocky is currently sitting in crafting time-out due to his joints being a PITA with limbs constantly falling out of the sockets. I need to see if adding some finish might help.

(My unstable health plus trying to hold down a full time job ain’t conducive to completing complicated projects quickly, lol, that’s why it’s been so long since I posted the shoes to this.)
