NIGHTWITCH recommends: Donnie Darko 2001)
The month of October has particular significance in the world of Donnie Darko. In 17 days and some hours from now, Donnie's world will end.
Depending on your perspective, the film explores either space-time metaphysics or Donnie's mental breakdown. Possibly both.
Either way, it is a masterpiece of dark fantasy cinema.
Written and directed by Richard Kelly, the film boasts an extraordinary cast, including Jake and Maggie Gyllenhaal, Jena Malone, Drew Barrymore and Patrick Swayze.
Naturally, Grandma Death is our favourite character, but Gretchen gets a notable mention. Donnie's dad is at his best in the director's cut, dispensing the sort of sage advice all the best dads give their sons: people who present themselves as angels are often the biggest hypocrites.
Patrick Swayze boldly plays the "final boss" of being pious and full of shit. His performance deserves credit, but the less said about his character, the better.
Our recommendation: unless you've mastered time travel yourself, October is the time to watch it. Don't delay.

Full Moon Entertainment - a Tradition of Schlock
My childhood was full of these features. Puppet Master was a big part of it. My most recent film watch was Piranha Women, which was great (and short). Tons of cheesey gems and Tubi delivers indeed.

WEEKEND of TERROR, the horror film festival known for its unhinged audience. Filmed in Cinema Alhambra, Amsterdam. Special guest: Stuart Gordon.
In 1996, the 13th Festival of Fantastic Film took place in Amsterdam, also known as the Weekend of Terror. The festival was famous for its wild audience, who would loudly react, shout, and heckle the actors on screen during horror films. Female characters in particular had to endure the abuse and were routinely greeted with the slur “WHORE!” A report from Amsterdam Public Access TV.

Patrick Lussier and Joel Soisson had plans to continue Father Uffizi’s story.
In a 2009 interview with Bloody Disgusting, director Patrick Lussier discussed a potential sequel, while screenwriter Joel Soisson had previously pitched a series project titled "Uffizi" to Miramax around 2004; however, neither project ever came to fruition. We recognize that this appeals to a niche audience within the horror genre, yet we believe there is a story here worth completing.
