I’m finding Google to be unhelpful so I’m turning to you guys. My 4yo female has been overweight for well over a year, 67g. I haven’t taken her to the vet yet because I don’t want to spend $70+ just to be told she needs to go on a diet. Two months or so ago, I started only feeding her twice a week, 1/2 tsp of apricot Pangea ( it’s the only flavor she will eat), and she refuses to eat any insects. Her tank is a size too small because I haven’t been able to upgrade it yet (I’m working on it), but it’s a 18x18x24. Which people kept cresties in for years before it was no longer the minimum recommended. And it’s cluttered and has perches and coconuts and sticks, so plenty for her to climb on. And I hear her moving at night so it’s not like she just sits around. I know they loose weight slowly, but is there more I should be doing? Am I feeding her too much and too infrequently? Do I need to changer her food? Walk her more? I added pictures of the weight logs I’ve kept. I started it the first time I started her on a diet. some of the jumps in weight don’t really make sense to me.

I’ve had my crested gecko for about a month and in that time I’ve only been able to get her to eat a few duiba roaches when I really put them up to her face and rub them on her mouth. But now she shows zero interest in any kind of food; i’ve tried dry and powdered food as well as bananas and pears. I currently have Pangea watermelon and insect flavors coming in the mail, but she feels lighter and I’m starting to get quite worried
Note: the top down photo makes her look wider than she actually is her belly is at most 1.7 inches wide and she’s two years old
Edit: I just weighed her and she is 61 grams

I’ve been seeing online people turning hutches into enclosures for crested geckos. I was wondering if anyone here has done that! I would love to know how you did it and the process. I’m debating either doing that or just getting a bigger tank! Please let me know or pm me.

Hi! We got this beautiful crestie about a month ago, and it will 9 months at the end of this month. Problem is, it's about 4.4g, on a good day. I started feeding it crickets about 3 times a week, 2 or 3 at a time, dusted with calcium+d3 and just calcium, switching on and off between them.
We obviously got her and she was clearly severely under weight, but I want to make sure I'm yolking it up properly too. It's enclosure gets sometimes down to 65 at night, but has been 70-78 during the day.
My research has given me mixed results on...everything. It is gaining, very slowly, but I want to make sure my husbandry is what it should be before I just give it time to grow. I don't see it eat a ton of CHD, but we give it to it every night. I have seen a few licks out of it, but nothing substantial.
Thanks!

I was feeding my creamy some roaches, and it seems that some have escaped into his enclosure. It’s got some heavy leaf litter in it, so I’m not able to find them. Is that clogging to be an issue? Or will he be able to seek them out and eat them? What could realistically happen now? Did I mess up? Or is it going to be a good food source for him?

the weather in the uk is finally deciding it wants to be cold which i like, but its not good for my crestie.
the temperatures can drop as low as 64F in the night and sometimes go up to 73F max. i have the heat lamp on from 8AM through to 10PM now as its so cold for her. i also have uvb on for around 7-9 hours a day now so she can get some extra heat.
even with heating on in the house, its still too cold for her and im not sure what to do especially at night.
is there anything else i can do? should i get a CHE?

I officially placed the gecko I have been eyeing for about a month on hold! Does anyone have any general advice for first time owners? I feel pretty prepared but of course I want to know everything there is!
He is a he, obviously, and we plan on naming him Frodo or Pippin, both from LOTR!

For reference I’m 6’1 with fairly average-sized hands, maybe on the bigger side but he still looks considerably smaller than many other geckos of his size. So I purchased this guy sometime in early May of this year and he was 18 grams. He is now 45 grams which is from what I’ve heard, a very average adult size. But from what I’ve seen at expos and obviously YouTube and other social media he doesn’t seem nearly as big as any adult geckos I’ve seen. My question is how is he 45 grams but looks significantly smaller than many other adult geckos? Furthermore if he was 18 grams just 5 months ago he’s obviously got a lot more growing to do correct? You know because he was very recently a small juvenile? Any help on this topic is welcomed, thank you.

This is my boy meatloaf, hes around 6 months old now we think, still a bit jumpy, but trying to get him used to me, he just chills most of the day in his plants

So I’ve finally set up Banana’s new enclosure and got her some repti-soil(mixed with eco earth because that’s what I had from a previous pet), plus I collected a few sticks/hunks of wood to give her climbing space. It’s still looking bare though and I know geckos tend to have more cluttered enclosures, but the local pet stores either have nothing or are hella expensive. Any recs for things to buy and preferably cheaper? I’m willing to spend the money on her though of course

YES she needs a bigger enclosure, this is just a temporary enclosure. i decided to jazz it up while we wait for her permanent home!

He's wa s born like month ago, eats CGD perfectly, isn't interested in bugs so far, why does he isn't growing like others and will he be ok? He seems fine and act fine

He (or she, haven't figured out the sex yet) is 6 months old and around 20 grams. I just put him in his new enclosure, is he just exploring? Hes been in his new tank for about 1 hour before this behavior started. I kept him in a quarantine enclosure with paper towels before, is he just trying things out since hes not used to it?

Hi guys!
A friend is giving me their crested gecko as they don’t really have the time for him anymore and whilst I’m super excited I’m also really nervous about grain mites.
I used to have a leopard gecko many years ago. One of the mealworm bins got infested and the mites came back every single winter and infested the entire house no matter what I did (cleaning, diatomaceous earth etc). It was really embarrassing and stressful.
I’ve recently moved into a new place and I REALLY don’t want this to happen again here, I have OCD and the thought of this is really stressing me out to the point that I’m wondering if I should turn down the gecko but I don’t want to let it ruin yet another thing in my life :(
I’ll be feeding Pangea.
Any advice etc would be really appreciated, thank you!

I currently have springtails in this bioactive enclosure for Blaze. I mist heavily once every night to about 70-80% and let the enclosure dry out to around 30-40% during the day. I have two plants growing in there right now and 5.0 UVB along with a grow light. I think this is yellow flowerpot fungus but I am not sure. Let me know what it is or what to do. Thank you guys!

I bought my first ever pet reptile (her name is Sylvia, I don't have any pictures yet but shes so cuties) at an expo yesterday, and I fear in the excitement of it all I didn't notice this nasty spot at the tip of her tail untill after I got home. The guy said she had what looked like stuck shed on the tip of her tail at the expo, so I didn't think anything of it till I saw it up close and it dosn't look good. I scheduled an appointment with a vet as soon as they opened, and they can get me in at the end of this week. I don't know how fast these kinds of infections spread so I'm a little scared it wont be soon enough but I'm holding out hope.
I just feel stupid for not noticing :,)

Edit: added photos. Sorry they suck she was hiding under a leaf and I didnt want to disturb her. In the second photo theres this weird shiny spot right before where the tail looks off which has me worried its an infection. Last picture was taken yesterday when I let her into the enclosure and I noticed her tail.
Edit 2: I contacted the seller who gave a very prompt reply giving me options for what we can do next, which has me hopeful but still quite nervous. Last night she was exploring the enclosure once it got dark but as for today shes been hiding under the same leaf for approximately 15 hours (sunrise to 10 pm) so I'm quite worried. Its possible shes not moving because im checking too much, once about every 2 hours sense sundown.

I have them on the growth and breeder and hand feed every 2nd day and leave the food for a day. how long should I wait before introducing insects?

Im new to all this

I decided to put a down payment on him to hold him BECAUSE he was SOO docile. He walked more than he did jump! And he was good with me petting his head, back and tail.
So when I bring him home am I able to just scoop him out if I handle him or do I have to practice choice based handling? Even if his temperament is absolutely perfect already.
He was previously a pet and a retired breeder. Dont know how much in the past but thats what they said.

i might have just been really stupid or smtn when i made other posts saying he's not coming out of a moss house in there and stuff, he's doing fine (i think) it looks like he was eating, and its 1 am right now and he was moving around and in the open just fine today, i had my hand right next to him for like 15 minutes and he seemed chill, but he didn't want to climb on or anything, how do i get him to want to climb on? (hes been with me for 6-7 days) and should i tell my dad to stop patting him when he sleeps
