So, I've had this issue with social media, I just despise it and I really don't approve of it, apart from a couple of platforms, but I'm pretty desperate to get comms so I made an account a month ago, contemplated on whether I wanted to create content then came to the "genius" realization that I could host a giveaway to help "my friend" (feel free to mock me and throw rotten tomatoes at me). The reason I'm desperate is because I need to save up for uni and I can't get/find a job at the moment and I'm also studying. I don't expect much but from the comms that I did get, I think I manage to make up and save a fraction of what I need, and I'm pretty sure I don't overcharge.

Yesterday, I posted a giveaway for a plushie (I crochet) of an idol in honor of their upcoming birthday, so I had the usual requirements (like follow share whatever) and as an additional entry they could follow my "friend's" Kofi.

I actually got a couple of follows on kofi from that. Later I realised that it probably won't do much in the future, but for the sake of integrity I'm not gonna back off from the giveaway, but has it helped anyone who's tried it? And should I have a differnt approach? (If i were to attempt it again in the far far future)

I've found a new love for creating crochet patterns, but they take a lot of time and effort to come up with.

I'm debating whether or not I should record YouTube tutorials and get paid through ad views. They only issue is that you need to get enough watch hours to even qualify for their monetization program.

I currently make PDF patterns and sell them on my Etsy and personal website. My prices are extremely cheap as I just want people to buy them so I can start getting reviews to look more trustworthy. I don't have many sales yet, but I did just start a month ago, so I'm not too worried.

I know some people record YouTube tutorials AND sell PDF patterns, but I'm worried people will just watch the video since it's free and I would be wasting time making the PDFs. The PDFs take me a really long time since I make them look professionally formatted and include a lot of images.

I'm just not sure whether I should prioritize PDF pattern making or YouTube. So far, I'm thinking maybe post smaller/easier pattern tutorials on YouTube and keep my bigger, more complex stuff as paid PDFs only. I'm not sure if doing both is unmanageable though...

If anyone is in the pattern making business, whether you sell PDFs or record tutorials, some advice would be greatly appreciated.

I hate making the same thing over and over again which is why I love taking custom orders. I get to take someone's idea and make it into a reality. And I'd say I'm pretty good at it too. But my only problem is I don't even know where to begin in that world, I've really only been told about selling pre-made listing. Where and How does one get people to commission them???

Edit: to be specific, I'm talking about crochet. And I've got 3 years experience (coming up on 4)

This one customer ragebaits me alot and Im so pissed rn. This is her second time ordering flowers and this time I was careful enough to jolt down all requirements. Still she managed to get on my nerves. I just want to rant here, i wish i had more balls to set up clear boundaries

So I’m doing my first market for a holiday winter fair this coming November. Santa is going to be there and I know there will be a bunch of little ones. I want to give something to the little ones that come to my table with their parents. I was thinking about ordering Santa’s sleigh bells and putting them in little wrapped boxes. Hi everyone! I have been creating Christmas crafts by repurposing vintage damaged ornaments and other Christmas decorations into ornaments, wreaths, and other display pieces. I source the ornaments from estate sales and tag sales. I would appreciate any feedback as I am thinking of selling some on Facebook marketplace this year after many years of commissions or just making gifts for family and friends. I don’t have enough inventory for a market yet but that is a goal of mine for next year. Here is a breakdown of my ideas for pricing:

-snow globe ornaments-$10
-Santa mugs- $20
-wreaths- depends on how many ornaments I used and what was vintage or new. Typically between $50-$100 (I have more than what is pictured but these are just examples).

Hi! Okay so I'll try and keep this quick! Someone ordered a custom blanket from me(my first crochet commission!) Its of a fancy door/arch with the words "speak friend and enter" on it from lord of the rings(forgive me I don't know the exa.

I only charged him for the yarn which came out a little over $200.(It's fairly large) Its turning out super good, so I was thinking of either making another one to sell after it's completed or maybe just selling the pattern for it. I'm wary about trying to sell the full blanket because $200 is a lot! Id probably price the pattern at $5? I'm not sure. But I'm also worried for a few other reasons. Copyright issues concern me, but also would anyone else really be interested in that? I'm happy to hear your opinions!

I have just finished creating my newest pattern, and it is now in testing (except for the pdf version, which I am still editing and hope to have up tomorrow). The only issue is, this is the largest, most complex pattern I have ever made, and I don't know how much to charge for it.

Oleander the Trick-or-Treating Dragon is 10 inches tall when made with worsted weight yarn. He has 13 pieces that are sewn on, and a few more that are crocheted on, plus lots of surface crocheting.
