The Sims 4 Updater: nothing makes sense anymore.
I’m getting tired of reading posts from inexperienced people, inexperienced just like me, of course, who sometimes panic without really knowing what’s going on, ending up creating even more alarm and panic.
The result is that people keep asking the same questions over and over again and worrying without getting clear answers.
I’m talking about Aaros’ The Sims 4 Updater. I even made a post about it asking whether I had done everything correctly and whether that HackTool detection was a false positive. I’ve always tried to do everything on my own. I’ve done my research and followed several tutorials without ever contacting anyone, but this time, with all these reports of viruses and possible hacks, I panicked.
Just yesterday, someone commented on my post saying they had detected a Trojan and that, on top of that, the Updater wasn’t even working. And they’re not the first person to say this: other people have reported being hacked, getting viruses, and experiencing other problems. At the same time, many others claim that these detections are false positives and that there’s nothing to worry about as long as certain precautions are taken (using an ad blocker, avoiding Chrome, checking hashes, etc.).
So, I’d really like someone who actually knows what they’re talking about when it comes to 🏴☠️ to step in and finally clear things up once and for all.
It would help prevent false alarms and repetitive posts and, above all, ensure that legitimate reports are taken seriously.
