Equivalent stiffness for arrows
I am trying to figure out how to determine an "equivalent" stiffness for arrow of different static spines, lengths, and point weights. When I say equivalent stiffness, I mean finding an arrow that will tune the same as one of a different static spine, length, and point weight.
My specific situation is this: my indoor line-cutter arrows are aluminum (X7 Eclipse), size 2613 (spine rating 265), 35" long, with a 250gr point. They have tuned up beautifully: perfect bullet holes through paper at multiple distances, and the unfletched ones group with fletched ones at 20 yds. But they weight almost 750 gr, and are only usable indoors.
So now I want to find a much lighter (and therefore faster) arrow and point combination that will tune equally well for outdoors shooting, up to 80yd (70m). My actual proper arrow length is about 30.5, and I'm shooting a compound bow with a release.
Any suggestions for where to look for this kind of calculation? Or even specific spine/length/point combinations that would shoot equivalently?
