League thoughts on current C9 (and our issues)

honestly i think c9 has a lot of issues, but we need to start with our imports. this is c9's biggest issue. our imports compared to the likes of Saint, inspired, Morgan, Berserker etc are just not going to cut it..

Loki's level is atrocious for someone taking up an import slot

thanatos has had 3 years and never reached his potential

also tactical just makes way too many egregious mistakes in late game moments. he's made like 15 in the past few weeks alone..

blaber imo improved enough in summer, to not be first on the chopping block, but still, teams he's on/ the players around him.. just mentally collapse every single split (in big games). this can't be ignored..

there is a hole there, in leadership (and late game calling)

TL has Core, Lyon has inspired. we are lacking someone that fits this mold.

i think Vulcan is irreplaceable but otherwise, we should be looking at a drastic rebuild if we ever want to overcome these issues.

I'm not even joking I feel I've seen a post like this year every year

Because we’ve had the same issues for the last 3 years

Change ur imports, bring a Korean ADC, and try to poach Darkwings or a native top, import the other role

i think import mid is more important than top tbh.. NA just doesn't really have midlaners that can compete at top LCS/ international level (unless you get Jojo but that's impossible)

Jojo is a burned bridge already, sadly. But what native top there is to get?

That had APA and chose to switch him even though he wasn't the problem

APA was terrible in spring, dont fool urself. Just rewatch the playoffs series

Thats a top i didn't think about, maybe is a good option. If we want to keep the import, we can get Castle too

3

u/skillfun8 4h ago

Not Castle lol

He is much worse than Thanatos

If anything you want to import likes of Haetae, Zest or Burdol

Burdol failed everywhere, the other 2 i don't know them, are them from LCK CL?

2

u/skillfun8 4h ago

Burdol is very decent in LGD

Zest destroyed Bwipo and pretty much the best top in CBLoL

Haetae is one of the best prospects to watch from LCK.CL

Yup pretty much this. I'd just kick everyone but Vulcan.

Imports don't perform vs better competition. Thanathos disappears, Loki either does too or ints. Top you prolly can be ok with mostly "just" strong laner and native is hard (it's like Fudge/Dhokla). Mid lane you just need guy who will carry. I only remember yesterday's Locke as loki pop off game while I can remember multiple where he got ahead early and didn't deliver, especially aurora one.

Vulcan + Blaber roster yet again gets worse as year goes on. It happened in 2020 and 21, happened in 25, happens 26. Those rosters always peaked early. That's a pattern, something doesn't work that their progression isn't like standard team (best in summer, slightly worse at worlds) but they peak in winter/spring and have those collapses in playoffs.

Tactical is still as flawed as ever. Same with Blaber. They just have random ints, better teams capitalize on those.

Team can't execute some comps. Specifically cannot play for tatical on hypercary. Most egregious example was the aphe dragon sell. They legit just didn't think he's their main carry just tried to force on toplaner for no reason. 23 jdg where everyone played for ruler beutufilly would never even entertain the thought of doing such play.

And finally, they have champ pool issues. Thanathos played his 4 most champs 14+ times (Rene, ksante, rumble, gnar) 8 ambessa and 6 aurora/Sion. He's played Aatrox, zaahen, Olaf in g3-4 at worlds. He just runs out of champs. Loki can't play most mages nearly as well as melee. Tactical looks miles better on Kalista/ez than other champs and clearly can't really play ziggs. Blaber seems better on tanks. Vulcan is fine.

Vulcan sucks. Negative intangibles.

Vulcan hooking rell every time last game. This guy has no idea how to play his role in team fights

Vulcan gets a pass EVERY YEAR because support is the easiest role to not look bad on.

Fundamentally this team has a massive problem with ending games and mental.

And I’m not sure how we fix that.

Obviously a way to fix the whole ending games part is having a better shot caller, but that still doesn’t fix the mental booms they have and how they will fold under pressure.

I don't get how they don't play through Thanatos if he is supposed to be this laning demon. He was average if not terrible. I think only Vulcan should be kept.

There isn’t a top laner available that is better that Thanatos imo, and I hate to be a lawyer for anyone, but I really believe he hasn’t been in a position to be successful really. Blaber plays so heavy for dragon and Thanatos is playing with so little vision and roams.

He plays with no brain a lot, but i really do think he is still a great team fighter and if you let someone else be the brain of the team instead of their double shotcalling shenanigans, that he would still be the best option.

This would be for Dom and Jack to determine but if they believe that Thanatos has another level to unlock with the team then be it. But I also wouldn't be surprised if he left after this year. I don't know if anyone on the team really wanted to be around after that loss. Vulcan looked ready to leave lmao

Zamudo is right there. Dude is insane.

I've said it before, fans hate it. DoubleLift or Sneaky, but obviously they are retired but still get the competitive itch.

Downvote now.

u/BeautifulChocolate87 4h ago

Look if Dhokla can still play at the level he does (and caps, core, faker etc)

I think Sneaky or DL could get back there too, but i don’t think it will happen

2

u/QuietRedditorATX 4h ago

Kicking Sneaky was a huge annoyance to me still. I don't know if he is the answer, but I know kicking him was dumb (even if Zven had a "good 2020 Spring").

DoubleLift still has moments of competitiveness. And he has chosen several good players to play with (Quid was his choice, Busio was his choice - even if I don't like Busio).

I don’t think doing an El Cid and bringing back Sneaky or DL is going to fix anything.

Will definitely give you PR points,

But DL especially is an ego who wants the team built around him, and while he was good, he wasn’t good enough for an entire team to be built around him.
