Hey everyone 😄
We all know there are already some great ways to play the classic Fallouts in 2026, and on PC I think the Community Edition is the best there is. I've always been a vanilla guy and never had problems on desktop. Where I always got stuck was playing on the go. Getting the games running on a phone or tablet with the existing options (fo2.exe for example) always felt a bit clunky to me, and keeping the same character across devices was even more of a hassle.
So I worked on a little passion project, kind of my own homage to these games and their stories. I wanted to play on any device and keep the same save: start on my PC, then before bed pick up the tablet or phone and carry on from where I left off.

It's the Fallout 1 and Fallout 2 Community Edition engines (all credit to alexbatalov and the rest of the amazing CE contributors) compiled to WebAssembly, so they run in the browser on a desktop, tablet or phone. On top of that I added some quality-of-life things for playing on the go:
- Fallout, Fallout 2 and Fallout Et Tu
- For Et Tu you give it the zip exactly as you downloaded it, and it puts everything together from your Fallout 1 and 2 files. You don't have to set anything up by hand.
- Touch controls that keep the original UI
- I didn't want to rework the interface and lose the look of the original. Instead there are tap, drag and hold gestures, plus a few buttons on the sides for inventory, map, character, Pip-Boy, end turn, quick save/load and so on. A keyboard pops up when the game asks for text, and you can swipe to scroll inventories.
- Better saving
- Autosave every 10 minutes into slots 8 to 10, so it never overwrites your own saves. F6/F7 quick save and quick load. Every slot keeps its older versions in case you need to roll back, and deleted saves are kept for a week.
- A save editor
- Stats, skills, perks, inventory, karma, quests, companions, world map and more. It uses the game's own rules and art, and every change can be undone.
- Picture options
- Original 640x480, widescreen or high resolution. There's also a fast forward.
- Browser App
- You can add it to your home screen like an app, and it works offline once a game is loaded.
You still need to own the games (GOG\Steam\Epic). Nothing is hosted or uploaded. You point it at your install folder (or a zip of it), and it copies the files into your browser's local storage. There's no server and no account.
To carry saves between devices you can link your own Dropbox if you want to. You create a small free Dropbox app yourself (it takes a couple of minutes and the steps are in the docs [ https://github.com/Daniel-Vaz/overseer-console/blob/main/docs/dropbox.md ]), so your saves go to a folder in your own Dropbox and never pass through anything of mine. From the save screen you upload a save on one device and fetch it on the other. You can also keep the game folder in that same Dropbox folder, which is the easiest way to get the full game, music included, onto a phone. The exported saves are normal Fallout save files, so you can also drop them into a regular PC install.
I know not everyone likes AI-assisted projects, so I'd rather be upfront and say that I built this with a lot of help from AI. That said, I've been playing this way for the past few days and I'm having a blast. It's free and non-commercial (the CE licence requires that anyway), and the code is all on GitHub.
I mostly made this for myself, but I wanted to share it in case someone else finds it useful. All feedback is welcome, so feel free to open an issue or feature request on GitHub: https://github.com/Daniel-Vaz/overseer-console/
