How can I pitch my English novel to a Chinese drama (C-drama) production company?
Hi everyone,
I’m an independent writer and I have written an English novel called SANZARU. My goal is to adapt it into a Chinese drama (C-drama), and I’m trying to understand how the industry works.
I would appreciate advice from authors, screenwriters, producers or anyone who has experience with international drama adaptations.
- How can an independent international author pitch a novel to Chinese drama production companies?
- Are there production companies, studios, literary agents, or adaptation agencies that accept proposals from international writers?
- Could anyone share official company contact details, business email addresses, or professional contact numbers for teams that consider novel adaptations?
- Should I approach a production company directly or should I find a literary agent or adaptation producer first?
- What materials should I prepare: a synopsis, a pitch deck, a pilot script, or an episode-by-episode outline?
I am particularly interested in making a full-length C-drama rather than only a vertical short drama, although I am open to learning about both formats.
I retain the rights to my novel and want to explore legitimate opportunities to adapt it for the screen.
Any advice, useful contacts, or personal experiences would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
