I'm looking for audiobook recommendations for my kids, who are 7 and 9. They speak near-native-level Mandarin through one parent, one language, living next to grandparents, and attending only Chinese immersion school until this year. My son is OBSESSED with Monkey King, and I'm trying to find more audiobooks like his favorite: Neither of us was raised in China, and my husband's reading and writing are at a similar level to our kids', so finding audiobooks that are age-appropriate and super engaging for him feels like a Herculean task. I am very open to any recommendations for audiobooks or podcasts! I download them for his Yoto player. Thank you!

Hi, I'm looking for any Chinese songs that are typically used when posting friends on social media. I tried to look some up but a lot of the song choices are from the 90s and early 2000s. I am more interested in seeing what current songs people use for their friends. I'm currently learning Mandarin and wanted to use a song in Mandarin to signify my progress.

It seems like tutor dot com has now added Chinese as an option to select on-demand tutoring (ex: sessions don't need to be scheduled anymore, can just wait for a student to join)

I'm not good enough to teach yet but am working on it

Here’s a quick lore detail that made me appreciate this area way more. Those fish are koi (jǐnlǐ / 锦鲤), also known as “brocade carp” — not goldfish. They’re two completely different fish. There’s an old Chinese legend about a koi that swims upstream and leaps over the Dragon Gate, a waterfall on the Yellow River. If it makes the jump, it transforms into a dragon. It became a classic metaphor for hard work, perseverance, and rising above your circumstances, and was later closely associated with passing the imperial examinations. So that “Koi Luck” loot buff isn’t just a cute fish icon. The reference is actually pretty clever. In-game, the koi are graceful and poetic, gliding through the mist like little strokes of calligraphy. At the real Baotu Spring, though,？They're absolutely enormous. Overfed, chunky swimming logs that immediately cruise over to the railing the moment someone shows up with snacks. Zero elegance. Zero poetry. Just pure, unstoppable appetite.

I got this from my grandma and I want to know what is the importance of the Chinese written on it and why there is a dragon on it.

The fire wall blocks the connection between Chinese internet and world internet. So may you can just hear some traditional cultures, but there are many morden cultures are used widely in daily talk,"Lao"is one of them.

"Lao"is“牢”,it refer to "jail".This culture begin with Kobe Bryant,he was called “老大(Lao da)” by his Chinese fans,it means"boss"or"leader".Because a news showed he may have some relationship with a rape action, someone angry with him and called him“牢大(Lao da,yes, they have same pronunciation)”then this culture was bron as a meme.“牢”is jail,it can make life hard,so this meme then used to describe weakness things, and someone even PS Kobe's head on these weakness things and add Kobe's voice like"Man!What can I say, manba out."so that, this culture got more connection with Kobe.

This culture then had a long term evolution, but I don't wanna to say all of these in one go,if your wanna to know more your can ask for it under this post.

Hi everyone,

I’m planning to study Chinese in China for around 5 months in Spring 2027, and I’m deciding between Tsinghua in Beijing and Fudan in Shanghai.

I’m mainly wondering which city would be better in terms of student life, socializing, meeting new people, and the overall experience.

I’d also love to travel around China and visit nearby Asian countries.

If you’ve lived or studied in either city, which would you choose and why?

Do you guys know what the sunken square pit in the center of the building is actually for?
