Why does everyone prefer Kelly over Matthew?
Both physically and personality-wise.
Chicago Fire is almost 15 years old at this point, and when the show first started, I also preferred Kelly because I found him attractive and macho.
But now that I'm an adult, I think Matthew would make a much more attractive partner, because he seems more willing to express his emotions and connect with others on an emotional level.
When it came to relationships, Kelly always seemed more interested in having fun, whereas Matthew was the one who took relationships seriously.
A lot of people criticize Matthew for being too uptight and, therefore, boring, but I don't see it that way. When the circumstances called for it, he was perfectly capable of bending the rules, too.
To me, Kelly often comes across as all talk and no substance when it comes to relationships, at least until things start getting serious with Stella.
Don't get me wrong, Kelly definitely has the looks and the attitude that many women find sexy, but in real life, he'd be the kind of guy I'd tell someone to stay away from if they wanted a healthy, functional relationship.
