my bumper was already falling apart but the duct tape was holding it together just fine before you somehow rammed into it while parking, and managed to completely detach my fog light and give my car yet another dent while you were at it. there's plenty of parking space too so how do you manage to hit someone's car in spaces that big??? i'm a broke college student pls. guys if you hit someone's car just be honest. i literally hit someone's bumper once and waited until they came back to tjeir car to tell them and give them my contact info. it's really not that hard to be a decent person. u never know when someone is struggling financially. please drive better and be a decent person

On October 18, 2026, at approximately 4:42 p.m., the Louisa County Sheriff's Office received a report of a dog attack in the 1500 block of Jefferson Highway in Louisa, Virginia.
As deputies were responding to the scene, the caller reported that a dog was attacking a young child. Upon arrival, deputies encountered a 4-year-old male child suffering from serious injuries while the dog continued to bite him. Deputies were forced to put the dog down to stop the ongoing attack.
Deputies identified the dog as an American Bully. Emergency medical personnel transported the child to a designated landing zone for air medical transport. The child was subsequently pronounced deceased.
The child's identity is being withheld at this time.
The Louisa County Sheriff’s Office extends its deepest condolences to the child’s family during this devastating time. We ask the community to respect the family’s privacy as they grieve this unimaginable loss and to keep the child’s loved ones in your thoughts and prayers.

Need Ear Nose & Throat (ENT) specialist

My wife has been referred to an ENT by the Sentara clinic doctor. Her ear has been clogged for over a month. No infection. The problem is getting scheduled with an ENT. In Cville the earliest available is March of NEXT YEAR! Not much better in Richmond. We're searching all over Virginia. She has travel / flights scheduled for November 3 and then another trip in late December. We think it would be excruciatingly painful to fly and possible cause permanent damage. We've tried everything and anything we can find online and over the counter. We're asking to go on the standby list for cancellations with ENTs. Super frustrating, so any ideas are welcome.

Traffic in 20 to 53

Anyone else tired of the absolute shit show that happens to Route 20 and those trying to turn on 53 between the hours of 345 and 6:30 PM every single day God I hope whatever they’re doing construction wise on this road will resolve this because it’s fucking absurd every fall

Ok, so, possibly a dumb question, but...

...realistically, how long before any sort of construction activity begins on the Dewberry/Landmark? It got sold, right? Do we think that it will be relatively in the same state next spring, say late April, May? TIA.

Any local restaurants have Filet Mignon Wellington?

Post image
5 Upvotes

My husband's birthday is coming up in November and he is not able to travel due to a serious health condition. One of his favorite dishes is Filet Mignon Wellington which he was able to order in the past from the Wildfire Steakhouse at Tysons Galleria. The steak is cooked within a pastry. Does anyone know of any local places in the Charlottesville/Waynesboro area that offer this dish?

Tire Swap Out

Looking for a recommendation for a shop in the area to remove a damaged tire and mount and balance a tire I have in storage? Also, any idea how much this should run? Tire is off the vehicle so a quick swap is all that's needed

Where do Charlottesville gardeners buy locally grown vegetable starts?

My husband and I are moving to Charlottesville in a few weeks. I'm trying to find places that sell vegetable starts once we're settled. I grow tomatoes, peppers, and some greens. Back in Idaho I had a nursery that actually carried starts suited to our zone, not just whatever the big box stores had out. Does Cville have anything like that? I want places that grow their own plants locally instead of shipping them in.
I'm also wondering about timing. When do people around there usually put tomatoes in the ground? Our season in Idaho was short and unpredictable, but I hear Virginia summers get humid fast. Any varieties that tend to do better in that climate? I have a spot picked out at the new place, but I'm still figuring out what will actually survive. I'm avoiding big box stores if I can.

Halloween

I recently moved to Cville and this is my first Halloween in the area. I moved from somewhere where it doesn’t get dark as early as it does here so I was wondering what time kids usually start trick or treating here? Want to be set up and ready!

Also, does trick or treating on the lawn usually pull all the local kids away from their neighborhoods? Or do families do both? Just wondering how many kids to expect!

Perm Salon/Stylist Recommendations?

I have long, super straight, fine-but-thick, virgin hair. Considering a digital perm, but hesitant to commit because I can't seem to find anyone advertising their perm prowess.. Any C-ville salon/stylist recommendations? Esp if they're known for good digital perms?

Week Ahead for October 19, 2026: Albemarle Supervisors to consider affordable housing requests; Charlottesville to kick off Comprehensive Plan review

Fall seems to have arrived and the cold in the air can be kept at bay with a vigorous review of what’s coming up hot at meetings of local and regional government. At least, that’s I avoiding turning on the heat today by writing up a long newsletter and then reducing it into bite-sized blurbs for r/Charlottesville.

WESTMINSTER CANTERBURY PLANS PANTOPS EXPANSION
For years, Westminster Canterbury of the Blue Ridge have been consolidating properties near its existing campus for an eventual expansion. A rezoning has been filed to bring all of their land under one Neighborhood Model. While that will have to be approved by the Board of Supervisors, the first public meeting comes Monday before the Architectural Review Board who will be asked to weigh in on the project as it is in an entrance corridor. One phase of the expansion envision a seven-story medical building. (learn more)

COUNCIL TO GET UPDATE ON CARTA
The City of Charlottesville owns Charlottesville Area Transit and the Albemarle Board of Supervisors has agreed to increases in the amount the local government pays over the years. Some Supervisors would like to be more involved with governance of transit overall, and thought that the new Charlottesville Albemarle Regional Transit Authority would be a place where that would begin to happen. What matters next is what this City Council and future ones think should be the next generation of public transit will look like. (learn more)

CHARLOTTESVILLE COMP PLAN KICK-OFF
If you missed the CvillePlansTogether initiative, you missed the development of an Affordable Housing Plan, an updated Comprehensive Plan, and a new zoning code informed by both. Nearly five years have passed now since Council updated the comp plan, and now it’s time to begin the process again. The Planning Commission is calling for a focused review such as a look at policies in place to try to stop displacement of existing residents. Council gets a briefing Monday night. (learn more)

ALBEMARLE HOUSING INVESTMENT FUND DISBURSEMENTS
In recent years, groups have been called on the Albemarle Board of Supervisors to spend $10 million a year on housing projects. For the current fiscal year, Supervisors met nearly two-thirds of that goal. On Wednesday, they’ll be presented with recommendations on how to spend that money. Candidates slated for funding include two Habitat projects, energy efficiency improvements, and assistance for the Piedmont Community Land Trust. (learn more)

There’s other stuff in the newsletter. I’ll try to write as much of it as I can. If there’s anything in there you’d like to know more about, drop a comment and I’ll see what I can do.

Steep, windy roads with no way to get around them. They see a line of cars behind them, but they don't pull over. They are the most important things in their world. F everyone else.

I think my neighbor is a fugitive. How to find out?

I have a neighbor who hinted at being a fugitive from justice. Possibly a sex offender. How can I find out? He goes by an alias and I ran his Pic through some facial recognition sites but no hits.

Favorite Lunch or Brunch spots in the city?

Last thread on this is a bit dated so I’m curious what people like nowadays. Cost not a concern as long as food is good.

Also curious about Noble’s new brunch that launched, if anyone has been. I went for dinner there and it was atrociously bad and the brunch seems overpriced but I am a sucker.

Anyone have experience with uplift training club?

I’ve just moved here to Charlottesville and have decided that I want to start going to the gym again. uplift definitely has the best aesthetic of the bunch at first glance, but I wonder if anyone could tell me more about their experience. For context I’m a 23 year old man with a history of working out at home by myself 🫠
