Last year, I asked people on this sub if unsay mas better, Halloween or Christmas.

Now this year since -ber months na, padung na ang Halloween, Christmas, New Year, ug Sinulog, I'm gonna ask a similar question.

As a kid, Christmas because of the toys and free money from relatives. Pero pag ka dako, Christmas lost its magic. For me, it lost its charm in 2010. I began liking Halloween better than Christmas starting in 2008.

Then I think once I became college, mas na ganahan ko sa Sinulog over Christmas. Tungod sa liveliness and festive mood, daghan colors and paints, the music, the beats, the masses, the fluvial parades, the actual parade, lots of events from concerts to food fairs, fireworks, and street parties to top off the weekend.

I'm not saying I don't like Christmas. For me, lahi ra jud ang energy sa Christmas kay sa Sinulog. You still have fun moments in Christmas such as karaokes until buntag, partying with neighbors, and magpa buto ug fireworks, but those are more closer to home. Unlike in Sinulog, you can feel the energy right after Christmas and New Year and it stays for a week during the actual novena to the rising dawn of the street parties.

I guess this has to go with growth. Since kids are excited with toys, pero once magka dako, trying something uncommon (such as Halloween) or more socializing (such as Sinulog) is part of the process.

I have a 6 year old kid but I’m not thinking of letting my child join competitions immediately but I want to enroll sa school team para ma train. Not train nga diritso gyud dayun competitive but to train even just the basic and proper techniques lang. Kibaw na sha swim na but as a six year old, I’m sure daghan pa need i-improve.
