OF F THE RECORD

What goes unnoticed? What gets left out? What refuses to make sense? We are constantly surrounded by information, images, stories, opinions and records. But what reaches us is never the whole picture.

Ephemeral Architectures is about to host an exhibition- OF F THE RECORD and is putting together a publication exploring invisibility and incoherence - what remains unseen, unheard or unrecorded, and what happens when the things we encounter refuse to form a coherent whole. It could also be a personal anecdote — a memory, an untold history, an overlooked experience — a story you wish more people knew about. Perhaps there are people, places, communities or experiences you feel are misrepresented or underrepresented, or missing from the stories we collectively tell.

We're open to anything: essays, photographs, illustrations, comics, poems, personal writings, found texts, excerpts, screenshots, documents, collages, visual experiments, or things that don't fit into any of these categories.

See your work in print! We promise you an exciting publication:)

I am looking for artists and creatives of all kinds to contribute to two upcoming collaborative zines through The Khaotic Good™. I am looking to create a collage, collaborative type of zine, to introduce different creators, and all the different ways we can speak to the same themes, within different forms of art.
I am seeking: Photographers. Painters. Illustrators. Collage artists. Mixed-media artists. Digital artists. Poets. Storytellers. People who make strange little things just because they need to exist.

These zines are meant to be a collection of different creative voices, mediums, textures, and perspectives brought together on the same pages.

✦ STRANGE LITTLE THINGS (7/12 Slots Open)

For the oddities, the tiny details you notice that nobody else seems to. Peculiar objects. Unusual fixations. Strange creatures. Little rituals. Weird thoughts. Fleeting moments. Things that are difficult to explain but impossible not to love.

If it's peculiar, whimsical, unsettling, oddly beautiful, or just strange it belongs here.

✦ AFTER MIDNIGHT (8/15 Slots Open)

For the things that exist after the world gets quiet. Late-night thoughts. Dreams. Desire. Loneliness. Secrets. Insomnia. Moonlight. Night drives. Empty streets. Memories that surface when you're supposed to be sleeping. The version of yourself that only seems to appear when everyone else is gone.

Poetry, photography, visual art, prose, fragments, experimental work, whatever the theme brings out of you.

If you make things, notice things, feel things, or have something strange sitting in your camera roll, sketchbook, notebook, or hard drive...I want to see it!

Submission Deadlines: There is no official deadline. There is a specific number of open slots for each theme. I will be individually going through each submission and choosing the best ones to fill the open slots. Once slots are filled, submissions will be closed down, acceptance letters will be emailed and production will begin.

Compensation: Currently there will be no fee to submit, as well as no payment for acceptance or contribution at this time.

Rights requested: All rights and Guidelines can be found here

We’re looking for speculative short stories (8k-10k words) that show your original interpretation on the theme of “Superheroes/Supervillains.”

Show us your classic superhero reimaginings. Your take on what makes a superhero or supervillain “super.” Undersung heroes, overachieving villains, supes originating in fairy tales or folk tales or fables—we want to read all about them!

Submission and guidelines

Compensation: $100

Rights: First English-language anthology rights for twelve months

Deadline: December 1, 2026.

Hi everyone.

I'm launching an online short story magazine called Corp/se for unsettling speculative fiction, particularly things that straddle the gothic and science fiction (flash to 10k words).

I have put pictures and quotes on the Corps/e homepage that I hope show the kind of vibe I'm going for.

I'm particularly interested in experimental or transgressive elements, whether in plot, style, or structure. I wanted to create a place where, as long as you can defend your artistic choices, you don't have to censor yourself.

I'm afraid this is an UNPAID gig. I have no funds so it's purely a passion project my end, so please only submit if you're okay it being purely that on your end too.

There is no deadline as such; I will close submissions when they hit 200. Right now I'm under 100, after around three weeks. I aim for Issue 1 to include around ten stories.

Submissions will be read blind and anonymously. I have set up a database that keeps the stories separate from author names and emails (until I've read and judged the stories, and need to contact their authors).

Rights requested: first rights and one month exclusivity. You will be credited as author, you will keep copyright, and you can do what you like after the month.

Here is the magazine: corpsemag.com

Thank you for reading!

Looking for submissions about pirates for a student run lit journal.

Submissions due by October 17th. Please look at photo for more info and how to contact with more questions.

* Organization: The Big Fing C*

* Deadline: Opens on the 1st of every month until Tally receives 20 submissions

* Entry fee: None

* Prize/s: Feature for 1 month on the home page and then moved to the blog.

* Link to submission page/official rules: https://thebigfingc.wordpress.com/about-2/

* Other information:

• 1 in 20 wins the spotlight
• 19 in 20 get light structural editing for their piece to improve their craft
• Flash fiction/prose/poetry up to 1000 words
• Science fiction, fantasy, horror
• Transgressive, counterculture, political very welcome
• Subversion celebrated
• Seeking marginalized voices: neurodivergent, ethnic, queer, religious
• Must be in .txt file
• No generic, boilerplate soulless rejections
• No money exchanging hands
• Full submission guidelines on the website

The form is set to stop accepting after 20 submissions to protect my time and ensure quality feedback.

My background is as a professional editor and graphic designer. I am from marginalised communities. My beef is with the current publishing industry where fees are taken and generic rejections are handed out so thick I could butter several dozen loaves of bread with them. I'd love to give emerging, marginalized authors the chances I never had.

Calling all writers! MEANWHILE, a new literary magazine, is accepting submissions for our first issue.

Our focus is the other: the weird and the wonderful, diverse voices, experimental forms, thought-provoking pieces.

Seeking poetry, fiction, visual art. Deadline to submit is November 30th. As we are a new and independent mag, this call is free to submit to and unpaid.

We ask for First North American Serial Rights and the right to archive contributors’ work. All other rights revert to the contributor upon publication.

What's a movie you watch when you want creative inspiration?

tl;dr see above

I'm collecting answers for my October issue of Inner View. In it, I pose questions as creative prompts for any medium. They're done in the form of articles or interviews, like this one.

My goal is to have about 12 different people share their favorite movie that gets them excited to make art. Explanations preferred; up to 100 words will be published.

What you get is a free copy mailed to you, a shout out to your zine, hustle, or just provide an imaginary title, like Tabitha, Heir to the Trilestas. You can now download my first five issues on my Patreon to get a vibe.

Inner View zine is for creatives and the creative curious. It's full-color 20-page 8.5x11. It's rad.

So what do you got?
