Future Student Inquiries and Advice

Hi everyone. I'll be using a throwaway account for this post as I politely wish to not be associated with it so I can engage with this subreddit from a comfortable distance.

I'm currently a high school senior here in SoCal (High Desert bro here) interested in CSUSB as a soon first-gen of higher education. As of currently, I've been managing to knock everything out pretty early:

. Cal State Apply and FAFSA app (Filled one of those out pre-October and submitted both of those right on the nose of October 1 this year)

. Submitted both my official and unofficial transcripts

. Currently doing a CSUSB-sponsored Intro to Psych 1100 dual-enrollment class for my senior year (Modern History sponsored under those guys as well for second semester)

. Submitted my other applicable financial aid apps and waivers including turning in valuable documents to the appropriate offices that could assist with making F.A. a bit easier

. Previously attended a few residential programs on the main campus

. Made a few university contacts that could potentially help me with a work-study position later on

. Attended two Direct Admission ceremonies in the same week this month

The ideal time I start would be Fall 2027. My major of interest is Theatre Arts, and am still waiting on when housing applications will be opening up in the spring. CSUSB is the first and only chosen choice I have right now with how close it is to home and how much positive reception I've seen firsthand from the students, staff, and campus culture (safe to say I'm very passionate about attending here soon). I've been eyeballing this subreddit for a minute now and decided this would be a good time to start asking and getting unfiltered answers from actual current/former students/alumni.

Whether I'm wrong or not, hopefully this place was a decent enough spot to see what advice and feedback I can potentially find here for wanting to live and study here on the main campus. I wanna say I'm checking everything off early and just wanna put the icing on the cake to see what I can get off of here such as maybe getting answers about on-campus life and other niche facts that will be cool to know. Thanks.

Note: This is a throwaway account. Just using it to get acquainted with the subreddit from a comfortable distance.

Future student here starting in Fall 2027. Just curious to see if you know or seen any fellow furballs that go here. Aside from this guy above. He's already adorable. It'd be cool to just know if anyone in the fandom goes there so I'd have some clarity in being excited in connecting with you guys out there next year.

Safety at the Palm Desert campus

I have never taken a class at the PDC before, but with the Spring '27 classes being available I might have to take a night class there for one of my credits.

I am a smaller woman. What's the campus and area like at night? Do you recommend it or is it too unsafe?

Withdrawing from class after census date

has anyone successfully withdrawn from a class after the census date? all the things i found online on the school’s website and on the permission request form say that you need an actual “reason” to drop a class after census even before week 13. how strict are they with approving a withdrawal? i would appreciate any insight anyone has, thanks in advance

Is the LPCC track connected with the LMFT track?

I wanted to apply for the LMFT track but I also want to get LPCC licensure in case I ever want to leave California. On the site it seems like the Clinical Counseling Course and the Counseling Course are 2 different degrees. Most other colleges I've checked out for LMFT provides an LPCC with additional courses
