Speaking of accurate weather predictions, if you get the chance, I can recommend spending the $5.99 needed to stream the movie Pressure. It’s based on the true story of the pressure Group Captain James Stagg was under in providing a weather forecast for General Eisenhower for the Allies’ D-Day invasion. Bit of trivia - Stagg’s grandson was an archive editor for the film.

There’s a Severe Thunderstorm Watch posted for my location today issued at 1:25P ET. In the 25 minutes since, I’ve received six notifications about it. (Update: seven.)

This follows the same pattern as the notifications about Isaias a week ago. u/MakerOfCarrot posted about some sever side improvements but it’s looking like that didn’t work.

If I subscribe to Premium annual and during the term decide to upgrade to Ultra, is there a pro rated upgrade path or do I lose what I paid for the Premium? Thanks.

With all the information I can find, I am still not clear if there there is a difference between the Premium and Ultra subscription when it comes to the Apple Watch.

Is there a difference in the available complications, frequency or method of background refresh, or anything else?

As I understand, the Ultra has access to multiple weather sources on the phone. Does this affect the watch?

I have a CARROT Weather Premium Ultra subscription, which I purchased in part for the Live Activities feature. Unfortunately, I'm experiencing problems with Live Activities both starting automatically and updating in the background.

I have enabled the relevant Live Activity settings, including automatic startup for precipitation, and have configured the feature on my iPhone for both the Lock Screen and Dynamic Island.

Here is what I'm experiencing:

• Automatic startup doesn't work reliably: Live Activities do not automatically appear when precipitation is approaching, despite having the automatic-start settings enabled.
• Background updates aren't working correctly: When a Live Activity is displayed, the weather information does not consistently update while CARROT is running in the background. Background App Refresh is enabled.
• Manual opening temporarily resolves the issue: When I open CARROT Weather manually, the Live Activity updates correctly. However, the automatic startup and background updating problems persist when I leave the app.
• Both displays are affected: The issue occurs on both my iPhone Lock Screen and Dynamic Island.

Since the Live Activity updates correctly when I open the app, I'm wondering whether this could be related to the automatic triggering mechanism, background updating, or a server-side issue.

Could you please help me determine why this is happening and whether there is a known issue or a fix available? I'd particularly appreciate knowing if there are any additional diagnostic steps I should take.

The first civilizations were in the Fertile Crescent,
which is Asia. Otherwise, there are “cradles” of civilization on multiple continents, which gives multiple correct Carrot locations. Am I missing something?

Why isn’t my full screen widget working?

I leave my phone on the nightstand or my desk when I'm not using it. It has the time and the weather chosen. I had the idea of being able to "Subscribe" to a sport, and when the next round happens, the weather changes from my location to the sport's location, there, at a glance, I can see what the weather is looking like, without opening carrot and looking for it.

I built a free, open-source scoreboard that I thought might be useful to CARROT users too. No app installation or account needed.

It compares the past 30 days of temperature, rain and wind forecasts by location and how many days ahead they were issued. Selected locations also include providers such as Foreca, Apple Weather, NOAA, Environment Canada, DW, MeteoFrance and MET Norway although it doesn’t cover every CARROT source.

The page explains how scores are calculated and whether the reference is station observations or model analysis.
