Sikh Vancouver police officer Const. Sukhvinder Sunger goes viral in Scotland after leading the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo as the VPD Pipe Band drum major in a kilt and turban.
I love a good mash-up or a remix eh!

He is also a recruitable party member and a formidable Red mage with a high melee damage output if equipped with his golden staff.

high melee damage output
But only in cutscenes, or when you have to fight him, before he's recruited

He’s mostly used for speedruns, these days because he’s better then the starting mage

That was before the patch. Now he shows up like 4 towns later so he's only helpful for the last few hours.

Bard Summoner class, he waves the staff and a hundred pipers appear behind him.
If you search for the Edinburgh Tattoo 2026 on Youtube you'll see him leading the massed pipes and drums.

I don't know much about their religion, but there's a sizable Sikh community where I live. They always seem polite and generous. I used to deliver packages to their temple and someone always came out to offer assistance and bring a water bottle. The Mormons on the other hand, looked at me like a fucking alien just walked into their midst when I delivered to their book club. But anyways, this dude looks extremely rad. Like, a character in a Utopian scifi that blends Earthly cultures.

Sikhs put their money where their mouth is too. They are apparently overrepresented in community service industries like law enforcement, healthcare, emergency services, and local government. Case in point.

There are a number of items they're commanded to carry with them, one of which being a knife to defend the faith and the innocent. Many now wear a necklace with a knife symbol on it rather than an actual knife, but it still acts as an ever-present reminder to stand up for others.

I'm Indian so I get a free pass. Sikhs are like if god got a second draft at making south asians and fixed all the bugs haha. Ofc I know a handful that're not so cool, we're all human. But those are the exceptions. Just from a statistical view, they're great people. They only sort of negative thing I can say is, at least where I'm at, they tend to be very serious and humourless at first. Then again the friends I've made are jovial and loving, all human right?

I used to live in Vancouver, I miss Sikh temple food! They serve food for any and everyone once a week, it’s so good. I looked into the religion a bit back when, and have nothing but good to say about them overall, but I’ll leave it at that; Sikh temple food 🍱 😊

It is literally their religion to mesh with community and not shy away from public responsibilities.
It's the only major religion that DOES NOT have a distinct religious class. Meaning: you can't be a sikh monk or a priest, isolate from the world and people in a cave or a church and expect them to give you charity and protection. The burden is put the other way around, as sikhs provide charity to all, regardless of belonging. Ass long as you are happy to sit side by side with all and take your shoes off at the door - you can always find a meal at a sikh temple if you're are hungry.
I am a man of no religion, but I have been blessed by being welcomed into sikh homes and temples. Their Gurus would be proud to see how their teachings are being carried forth.
Sikhi vision holds true in the modern world: We need community, we need bonds, we have to look beyond immediate associations. But we have to fight for equality, we have to stand up for the weak, we have to rise up against castes and prejudice, and to do our best to elevate destitution.

I looked into Sikh beliefs a bit, and it totally makes sense as to why the only encounters I've had with them have been positive. That's a religion I could get behind, if I was so inclined. It seems close to how I try to live my life secularly.

Lived in a Sikh area in England. Have alot of time for them. There was an elderly Sikh man used to sit on the bus stop across from me just to say hello to people and watch the world go by. He used to baby talk to my staffie and blow her kisses.

u/DoingTheDumbThing 3h ago
At the risk of perpetuating stereotype: a Sikh man managed the convenience store in the neighborhood where I grew up. As I got older, whether it was candy, energy drinks, condoms, cigarettes, or tall boys, he always acted like every visit to his store was like a welcome guest in his home. I finally moved away and I found out he passed about a year ago.

The Japanese wrote a cultural guide for Indians so that when they invaded in WW2, their soldiers knew the basic social norms.
Basically went 'Sikhs, normal, do not touch their religion or they will become combative'. Which given it's the Imperial Japanese Army, the word Combative is doing a lot of heavy lifting.

Extra fucking points for this. Almost no religions have female leadership of any kind. The Anglican Church is a standout, and a percentage of their congregation converted back to Catholicism when they brought in female vicars. We take it all for granted because Dawn French made it funny, and relatable, but I have no fucking time whatsoever for religions that don’t allow female leadership. They all end up being run by perverts and paedophiles.

It's a fairly old tradition in the British Army to parade and demonstrate foot drill to musical accompaniment..
It's usually done on a parade-square-like place, such as in Edinburgh Castle.
Used to be a fairly big thing when I was a kid, but it's seen as a little anachronistic and slightly jingoistic.
It's pretty benign, though.
