Old Furniture Store Memory
Born and raised here, but I remember as a kid in the 90s there was this local furniture store in town that had a Scottish bagpiper as a logo and had a location right off the old mall on Campbell & Nashville RD (on the side where Big Lots used to be). I saw these trucks every now and then going by my daycare center and on the way to school, but the name of the place is escaping me.
Anyone have ideas what this place was?

BG Horror Club Trivia & Movie - 10/25 @ Donna’s Bar 6:30 PM HauntedWeen
Ghouls and gals, bolt your doors and hide your pledge paddles, Donn’s Bar is throwing open the doors to its very own haunted house, and this time the scares are REAL... ly entertaining! Round up your favorite frat brother (or your favorite victim) and shuffle on down for a hometown haunt so killer, it was literally filmed in our backyard!
Movie: HauntedWeen (1991) - Rated Unrated
Date: Sunday, October 25th @ 6:30 PM
Location: Donna’s Bar - 332 E Main St, BG, KY
Plot: Twenty years after a fatal incident, Eddie Burber's old home, now haunted, hosts a fraternity fundraiser. Unbeknownst to them, real deaths occur amid the haunted house thrills as they're hunted and trapped inside.
Runtime: 88 min
Local legend alert, fiends! HauntedWeen wasn't just SET in a Kentucky college town, it was shot right here in Bowling Green in the summer of '89! Director W. Doug Robertson and a crew of local friends and WKU film students crammed 23 days of 16mm mayhem into spots you'll recognize, including the WKU campus, a downtown warehouse, and an actual fraternity house, all on a skeleton-crew budget of about $65,000, with locals pitching in for free. Then Robertson schlepped it to video stores himself and sold 2,628 VHS tapes with a money-back guarantee, not a single one came back! Proof that when this town makes a horror movie, the scares stick the landing.
This showing is a little bit different than our normal movies at the Capitol. This one is at Donna’s Bar, so 21+ and a $2 entry fee.
It’s trivia night also. Join us for horror trivia and prizes just in time for spooky season.

Trees 'n Trends?
Now that Treen 'n Trends has closed, where are you shopping for Christmas stems, branches, ribbon, etc? Hobby Lobby doesn't have much of the merchandise you could find at T'nT and I haven't found t anywhere else! Tempted to order online, but price (!) and not being able to actually see and feel the items makes me leery.

Open mics
Hello all,
I am new to the area and keen to check out local open mics. Do y'all know of any current ones? Either here, or in Glasgow or Cave City. Thanks a bunch for any leads!

Karaoke, but for musicians - not vocalists?
Had the idea in my head this week, amateur vocalists get to have all the fun at the bars on Karaoke nights.
I'm wondering how viable a Karaoke/Jam Session crossover would be where you can bring instruments and sign up to play/sing to a backing track on your favorite songs solo or with a group, like an amateur musicians mixer, not as formal as a jam band or open mic night, but about as casual as karaoke.
Would be a good networking opportunity for people potentially looking to start a band and get in the local music scene to play, partner up, and mingle with some people who have similar interests!
Anyone heard of anything like this before?

Bowling Green Sourdough Bakers- I have a water question.
Been trying to get a sourdough starter going at home, first by trying to cultivate one naturally and the second with a dried culture. Both failed. We used water that had gone through our sink mounted water filter both times. Now that I'm trying a third time with spring water I'm finally seeing signs of life.
Is this just the fate of a sourdough baker in BG or once my culture is strong enough will it be able to overcome the chloramine that my filter isn't catching? I'm reluctant to keep gallons of spring water around just to bake bread.

Best piercing places in BG / surrounding areas?
I've been to two piercing shops here: The Mad Tatter and Sirens and Sailors. I was pretty disappointed with the results of 3 out of my 4 piercings that I got at The Mad Tatter (all 3 are lip piercings and have ended up crooked / uneven). I had decided that for any further piercings that I would just go to Sirens and Sailors because both piercings I got there were perfect and healed beautifully, but unfortunately they have just shut down. Does anyone have any recommendations as to a good piercing place here, or advice as to where in town i should avoid? If anyone has recommendations for piercing places in Nashville or other reasonable driving distances from here I would also love to hear those. Thank you in advance!

Things to Do
Visiting Bowling Green, KY today, as part of a business trip. I’ll be there until Thursday morning (10/8) and have quite a bit of filler time. What is a must do or fun place to go to while there? Thanks :) 23M
