Need some advice for DAS accommodation housing

• Upvotes

Hey guys, I'm currently trying to get a dorm change through DAS due to severe insomnia (medication-dependent, easily woken up by roommate/bunk bed shaking).

I've already submitted my medical documentation and am waiting for the intake meeting. However, I've heard mixed things about DAS housing. I have two questions:

  1. After the DAS meeting, how long does it actually take to get moved to a new room?

  2. During the DAS meeting, should I ask my doctor/NP to join me, or is my submitted paperwork enough?

Any advice or personal experiences would be super helpful. Thanks!

Admissions Trying to transfer

Hey everyone, im trying to transfer out of my small university after my freshman year, and BU is my top choice. I was hoping for some advice on what else to be working on.

Long story short I did not try at all in high school because I was under the impression I wasn't going to go to college at all. My stats from high school are:

3.0 GPA

24 ACT

no extra curricular or APs

Some things I might have going for me though is being from a rural area in Tennessee, finishing high school online (or that might be worse, but I was thinking since it was a self paced program it looks good,) and I grew up in Connecticut before moving to the south, so my why BU essay could have something about wanting to back to New England idk. From my middle school time I also have a lot of first place awards I won in our robotics program (Vex IQ), and idk how much middle school accomplishments would help but I figure it shouldn't hurt to mention them?

So far from my freshman year of college:

4.0 first semester gpa

im retaking my act twice and my sat twice to get that up

founded a trivia based gameshow for the school with a friend as well as a comedy channel as a passion project

founding member of the schools golf club as soon as that's up and running in a few weeks

member of the Content Creators residential learning community (I figure this would look good cus it shows I use the schools resources and promote the school on my own time)

Other than trying to keep that 4.0 and bringing up that ACT/SAT score, does anyone have any other advice to give?

Questions About BU Online MS in Financial Management (Investment Analysis) – Fall 2027

Hi everyone!
I’m an international student from Saudi Arabia, and I’m planning to apply for Boston University’s Online MS in Financial Management – Investment Analysis Concentration, hopefully starting in Fall 2027.
I have a few questions and would really appreciate hearing from current students or alumni!
Tuition: What’s the actual cost per semester for part-time students taking two courses? Are there any additional fees beyond tuition?
Payment deadlines: When do you usually have to pay tuition? Is it before classes begin or after? I’m trying to plan my savings accordingly.
Payment plans: Does BU offer monthly installment plans for international students living outside the US?
Course workload: How manageable is taking two courses per semester while working full-time? How many hours per week do you typically spend studying?
Class schedule: Are the courses fully asynchronous, or are there mandatory live lectures, exams, or group meetings?
Admissions: How competitive is the program? Is a bachelor’s degree in finance and some professional experience enough, or are there additional expectations?
English requirements: What TOEFL or IELTS scores are required? Are waivers available for international applicants?
Curriculum: For anyone in the Investment Analysis concentration, how practical are the courses? Do they complement the CFA curriculum, or is there too much overlap?
Graduation: Is it realistic to complete the program in four semesters (around 16 months) while working full-time?
Degree certificate: Does the diploma or official transcript mention that the degree was completed online?
I’m particularly interested in hearing from international students who completed the program entirely from outside the US.
Thank you so much in advance! I’d really appreciate any advice or personal experiences. 😊

How generous is BU with financial aid for transfer students? Does applying for aid hurt admission chances?

Hi everyone! I'm currently a freshman at another university and considering applying to BU as a transfer for Fall 2027.

One of my biggest concerns is financial aid. I know BU is pretty expensive, and ideally, I'd need my total cost of attendance (tuition, housing, meals, etc.) to be under $60k per year for it to be financially realistic. I also will likely be off campus if that changes anything.

I've heard mixed things about how generous BU is with financial aid for transfer students compared to first-year applicants.

I had a few questions:

  1. Does applying for financial aid make it harder to get accepted as a transfer? I've heard BU might be need-aware for transfers, but I'm not sure. I wouldn't need a huge amount of aid, just enough to bring the total cost below $60k.
  2. How generous is BU with need-based financial aid for transfer students?
  3. For those who transferred, how much aid did you receive, and what was your approximate total cost after aid?
  4. Im guessing financial aid is significantly worse for transfers compared to incoming freshmen?

I'd especially appreciate hearing from transfer students who applied for financial aid and whether they felt it affected their admissions chances.

Thanks in advance!

Could anyone let me accompany them?

Hey. I’m really struggling with severe isolation lately, alongside some personal difficulties, and I’m trying to not isolate myself further.

I don’t really know many people here, and I’d genuinely appreciate a little company, even the simplest things like walking together or letting me just tag along would mean a lot to me.
I’m still trying to understand how to communicate and put myself out, so I may take some time and may be anxious and reserved, but I’m happy just being around people, please bear with me.

If anyone would be kind enough to want to spending some time with me, I’d really appreciate that.
Thank you

UMASS student looking for advice

I'm a freshman at Umass Dartmouth right now and want to transfer for my sophomore year fall into CAS as an Econ Major and i really just want any advice.

I have a 4.0 GPA currently majoring in Finance and in highschool had a 3.94/4.14gpa and ranked 13/110 in my class

i worked a coop job as an electrician during highschool for 2 years and no SAT/ACT

I'm founder and president of the Recreational Sports Club ive gotten a decent amount of ppl to join and we have weekly activities like pickleball, spikeball, volleyball, etc

I am a first year member of DECA and plan to compete at states and nationals this year in financial modeling

I am also in a catholic ministry club and do volunteer work at my church like the electrical wiring for our big annual festival

I self study a lot and do a lot of journaling and research on my major, and i do financial reporting for my dad's small construction company for practice. Im looking for an internship rn but im stuck on how i can work my study beyond my academics into my essay/application.

I went to UMD for the price, scholarships, location, and the student managed fund. the year i got here they actually made the fund a class instead of a club, so i could no longer join as it was reserved for upperclassmen and instead of being a group its now just a class u take for 3 months which really disappointed me

im gonna mention how much i value extracurricular clubs like BUFC where i can be surrounded by people with similar interest/drive and its really important to me to learn in an environment like that whereas i lost that opportunity by going to my current Uni.

I was thinking about writing my essay about how i really want to attend BU because i've learned how where i study is so significant to my future and not just what im studying. going to BU would open so much more opportunity to me and i will talk about the clubs i plan on joining and the classes i plan to take during my time at BU but lmk if u have any advice on this topic for my essay.

Thank you i appreciate any advice!

Admissions im eager to move from BC to BU as soon as possible. pls help w transfer info and thanks

self explanatory title. BC can be great but simply not my fit and that’s okay. would prefer not explain too much. pls if someone has knowledge/experience with transferring especially Mechanical Engineering. this semester might end with a 3.7 or 3.3 GPA (working for the 3.7 ofc).

I’m currently on freshman and have been going to AFROTC, really liked the program but might drop it on sophomore bc I know BU engineering already has a lot of workload and also other reasons.

I understand now it meets demonstrated financial aid for transfers. also got waitlisted BU before but just chose BC.

if anyone pls has any recent experience/knowledge it would be appreciated, or any info or comment overall to chat ! it’s just that I have visited many times BU and love how it looks, the program, and many of the people there. just to clarify this is not hate to BC in specific or anything like that

thanks in advance !!
