Hey everyone! I'm Jake (new to reddit!), a Massachusetts native and one of the founders of a small Boston-based app called desso. We're trying something a little different this Saturday! We are hosting a free group gathering where attendees will use our free app to connect with others attending in a new/fun way.

The idea behind desso is pretty simple: we're surrounded by people every day, but actually meeting someone new can be surprisingly difficult.

So we built a free app that lets you find other people nearby who are open to connecting, start a conversation, and potentially meet up in person within minutes (insta is desso.app & appstore tag is dessoapp).

Here's what we're trying to do!

On Saturday, October 24th, from 1–2 PM, we're hoping to bring together around 50 people at Boston Common who are interested in meeting someone new.

Everyone will be using desso to discover and connect with other people nearby. No organized activities, awkward group introductions, or forced networking. Just people hanging out at the park, using the app to find others who are interested in meeting someone new.

We've also been sharing this with a few Boston Facebook groups, and already have around 30 people interested in coming! We're hoping to get at least 50 people together so everyone has a good opportunity to meet someone new in a fun an unique way!

For those that may have saw a similar posted last week, there was a group for skiers and boarders created in whatsapp. That whatsapp got raided by stock market bots and was shut down. I actually made a similar post last year but with a instagram group and was able to invite all the bot raided whatsapp people to the previously created instagram group (no bots allowed). If anyone is still looking for a group to go with this season let me know either in the threads or with a DM with your instagram handle and I can invite you to our ski chat.
