When Stephanie Bootwala lost her primary elections in June 2026, people in our 3rd Ward were bereft. Despite getting the endorsement from Senator Andy Kim and Congresswoman Analilia Mejia, Stephanie didn't get enough votes (due to also low voter participation). Sarah Cruz advanced to the general election but still remains one of the least effective council members. So, we got together and organized a write-in campaign for Stephanie! You can write her in on your mail in ballots or when you get to early elections (starting October 24th) and on November 3rd. Hear our neighbor Glen from this morning 's meeting on 23 Skidoo.

Around 2012, I bought this painting from a young artist who was displaying his artwork on the sidewalk outside a house on Franklin Street. He was around 30 years old at the time, and I believe he was moving out of an apartment building.

He had two large companion paintings, each approximately 3 feet tall and 2 feet wide. One was a colorful female flower (pictured here). The other was a predominantly blue male flower, same design, just maybe the orange one’s partner.

Unfortunately, I could only afford one, so I bought the female flower and left her love behind. For all these years, she’s been hanging on my wall, and I’ve always regretted not buying the other painting.

I vaguely remember the artist’s name being something like Dan O’Connell, although I could be completely mistaken. His signature is visible in the bottom-right corner (NAD).

I’m hoping someone might recognize the artist, remember someone selling paintings on Franklin Street around that time, or perhaps even know where the blue painting ended up.

I’d love to find the artist and see whether the other painting is still out there. She’s been missing her man for all these years, and I think it’s about time they were reunited.

Any leads would be greatly appreciated. Please feel free to share!

Tl;dr I bought the pictured orange flower almost 15 years ago, but couldn’t afford her blue boyfriend/husband. She’s been so lonely ever since, and I can’t imagine what he’s going through. Any leads on the male flower, please let me know. I’d love to reunite them!

I am purchasing a property that has a basement unit in Bloomfield. Has anyone rented their basement out despite the city not allowing it? Maybe as an Airbnb, to college students or a beauty/wellness provider?

Open to any ideas on what I could do with the basement. It has its own entrance, a good size window/ceiling heights and a full kitchen/bath.
