Community Discussion: AI Content

With the widespread availability of AI tools for editing text, images, or video, we are seeing a sharp increase in AI-related content on this subreddit. These posts have a notable increase in negative responses and reports.

As of today, we have no official rules for AI-related content on this subreddit, and we handle content the same as actual human-generated content. It seems clear that at least some portion of the community does not wish to see AI-generated content.

Suggestion

At this time, I am suggesting we codify the use of AI-generated content on this subreddit. This would include content that is wholly AI, partially AI, or edited by AI. Any generative AI technology will be included in this definition.

Exceptions shall be made for the purposes of trivial tasks such as spelling or grammar checking.

To determine our next action, we will open the discussion for about a full week. This will conclude on the 10th of May, 2026. At that time, feedback will be collected and processed into a new rule for approval. A second round of discussion will be opened on the wording of this final rule before enforcement begins.

Community Participation

All user opinions are welcome for this process. No opinion will be given any inherent weight over any other opinion.

Only top-level comments will be reviewed. While we welcome you to discuss among yourselves, we will only consider the top-level comments to determine our consensus. This saves us from having to piece together long threads.

In particular, we would like to know the following:

  • What measure shall be applied to a post to determine if it is AI?
    • Gut feeling?
    • User reports?
    • AI detection tooling?
    • Dice roll?
  • What action must be completed by users posting this content?
    • Posting flair?
    • What if it’s a comment?
    • Should users fully disclose where the content came from (e.g: which model/site)?
  • What moderator action shall be executed on breach of the rule?
    • Content deletion?
    • User moderation (Ban?)
    • Content flairing?
    • What about comments? We cannot flair these, do we delete? Moderate? Ban?

Thank you for your time and hopefully your input.

Can we try to remember to mark all sick/injured beardie media as NSFW? NSFW

I know that the rules of a subreddit are absolutely not the first thing on someone’s mind when their animal is hurting, so I totally get that mistakes are going to happen. But I just feel like I’ve been seeing a lottt more uncensored lizard gore on my timeline over the past few weeks, and it’s just really distressing to be scrolling normally and then suddenly have the entire screen fill with a pic/vid of your favorite animal suffering.

I don’t click on these posts but I still see them so often, and when they aren’t marked NSFW then everyone is forced to scroll past the full size uncensored media on their timeline without warning. Usually I am not even able to process the title before I notice I’m looking at something horrible :((

So please do try to mark any and all potentially distressing media as NSFW, even if there is no actual gore/visible injury—if they are sick or hurting at all, please mark it so that people can decide for themselves if they’re comfortable viewing it or not!

My Smart Beardie

**THIS IS LONG. SO IF YOU DON’T WANT TO READ THATS OK.*\*

Kova is a rescue and I’m his third owner. Everyone says how they have tiny brains they don’t understand things. Even a vet I saw (which I no longer see). Said “ Ah, they are just dumb little guys”. Actually they are smart. They just have attitudes.

Yes, some are silly like my other guy but he’s no dummy either. So, Kova when I got him he was 5yo. Since then he’s been my heart and my family knows he’s living forever, and so does he.

They are food-motivated, yes like my other guy to-do things. He’s smart in his own way. Kova just picks up things and he doesn’t need food to do it. I taught him to use the bathroom. By just doing exactly how I taught my kids.

If he’s on the bed he’ll come to me so I can take him and if he’s on the floor, he’ll walk to the bathroom.🚽

When he gets antsy on the bed (which he knows to stay on the green blanket). If I show him his usual spots. He’ll walk off of me to leave him there. If he wants to go up. He’ll walk over to the enclosures.

I can tell him to stay on the bed. By repeating myself and showing him my pointer finger. 👆🏼He will just stare at me until I come back. I do this cautiously bc you never know.

When he’s mad at me he will ignore me and stay with my husband because he knows I’ll get mad lol. While he’s with him. He gives me his back or I’m getting the nasty look. On other days if my husband is holding him and I walk by. He’ll reach out for me like a wittle baby.

Today he felt like he had to go poo twice no luck. So, I stayed on the bathroom floor just in case he felt an urge to go again. Instead he walked over to our bedroom door and put his nose on it. (He’s never done that before.) He was telling me he wants to go outside the room. (He likes the living room.)

So, I put him on his blanket fixed up his area. I sat next to him. Then he turned and looked at me. I picked him up and kissed his wittle face. He climbed up and fell asleep. We ended up laying on the couch while I watched TV. Yes, he was warm.

When people tell you they are dumb or they have little to no brain. They’re wrong and Kova proves this. They may not love in the same sense as us but I know he sees me more then just his slave for food and warmth. He knows I’m home and safe for him. Every night me and my boys do the same thing. I give him kisses on his beard if he’s with me. If not it’s a touch on his back to say it’s night time. I tuck Ashe into his bed and kiss him on his head. They care and love in their own lizard way. 🥰. Ok I’m done gushing over my baby.🦎

We recently lost power due to a storm that rolled through. When the battery back up for the light stopped working, it was time to roll out the Beardie Burrito.

What tips do you have for power outages as we get ready for a cold winter? (2 bearded dragons and 1 leopard gecko under this roof)

I had to share this because whenever I’m not holding her, she’s eating, or sleeping.. she isn’t climbing her multiple logs, nope. She isn’t basking on her rock (unless she wants to poop on it). She did start jumping IN her water bowl about once a week, but every other moment of her day she is hugging this stupid little paw patrol guy that my twin boys chose basically because THEY liked it. Anyone else’s beardies have a bestie?

Does my friend's beardie look skinny and dehydrated?

She sent me this picture today, I don't feel right about it but am absolutely NOT experienced and don't want to be a bitch and then be wrong about it.

I don't like it at all. I want to be wrong, advice?

New Beardie Friend Morph Identification

Thumbnail

I just got this baby two weeks ago and with the help of a friend who owns one themselves + this sub, I’ve been caring for him/her the best I know how. The place I got him suggested he was possibly a tiger and leatherback. I don’t know much about identifying morphs and things like that so I was wondering if anyone would know by the pictures. Any advice or suggestions on names are welcome as well, thanks :)

I’m also struggling with getting him to eat the salads I put out. I’ve tried mustard, collard, turnip, kale, baby bok Choy, and have mixed with bell peppers and squash. Won’t touch any of it hand fed or in the dish. Man only wants to eat crickets and dubias, is this normal for baby’s?

We just got our first beardie ever just a few weeks ago. She's a little baby and the vet cleared her and she's healthy! Initially we thought it was a boy but we still love her the same. She's has quite the appetite though and she loooves small dubia roaches. She'll just stand in her bug bowl and stare at me until I feed her.

My dude hates his greens. Passionately. It’s been a struggle for months. Today, I made it nice and colorful for him and somehow tricked his lizard brain into munching some collard greens.

Yea, well, once he realized he was eating a plant, he ran away and gave me massive side eye. I love this moody little punk 😂

This is Spyro, unfortunately he has had years of improper care. He belongs to my boyfriend's brother, and it would be out of my jurisdiction to rehome him because the family is still attached to him despite rarely ever taking care of him.

I often find larvae in his water (i always change it when im there, but theres times where i cant be there for a while), and 2/3 of his substrate were bought and mixed in by me. Im also afraid his heat lamp isnt warm enough, but I dont know how to tell.

I dont have a ton of money on hand, but im willing to take out of my savings account for this little guy. What can i do to improve his life? Ive never owned a bearded dragon before, and so i dont have much of a clue as to what to do. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

If your beardie was in a group of 1000, how would you tell them apart?

Random thought I had the other day. Before I got my own, I thought they all looked the same, but I always notice the differences now even though he has some doppelgangers out there.
