I Need help First day tig welding Any tips

Worst welds ever. First time ever touching a tig rig, 3 hours to be exact and I have a test on it. I have welded stick MiG and flux core. I was using lift arc on 120 amps post flow 10 using 100% argon gas set in at 20-25 cup size 8. as you can see in the picture im in a 1F position. I couldn’t lay down a consistent bead for Gods sake. I made sure I cleaned my metal material nice. I kept my tungsten sharp not too long and pointy/short.
I’m sure I fed the filler too early in the picture and suppose to let the puddle form and spread it out then feed it at the leading edge of the puddle. Whenever I initiate the arc im having problems. my tungsten would get stuck to the plate. im sure I have to let the puddle form first then feed the filler into the base metal Idk maybe I just have to get use to letting the puddle form spread it then feed
Sometimes my filler rod would be glowing red.

I’m having problems feeding I think the issue may be is my gloves are too thick I can’t really get a good grip on my filler rod to feed. Whenever I try to walk the cup it just keep slipping and I’m not gripping the handle too much. I think I have to get the concept down of letting the puddle form and to know when to add filler rod.

Whenever I started tig we went straight into it with adding ER70s-6 filler rods. should I practice tig before adding filler rod so I could get an idea what to look for and etc.
Any more advice/tips I would need to know would be appreciated please and thank you.

Rust and its consequences.

We took two new packs of welding wire, but after a few clean layers, we found rust inside. We struggled with the settings for a long time until we looked inside and realized what was causing the problem.

First time ever welding with no prior training/experience guided with 15 minutes of YouTube tutorial. Also for people telling me to grind the paint before hand, I already did. Just did a terrible job at the weld it self

Titanium welding, has anyone made a container to welding small titanium parts in to keep them in an envelope of argon?

Tig welding titanium and needing some ideas on keeping the metal in an all argon environment while welding. I have a back purge set up for tubing but nothing set up to do flat stock. I was thinking like a Tupaware container with steel or aluminum in the bottom and just feed argon in from the bottom to keep oxygen out
Building a transmission mount and crossmember for an 8hp swap into an f-body
Thanks in advance to anyone

My first trys in welding Copper (TIG)

I’ve been welding stainless steel and carbon steel for a year now, and I’m certified in both. Next year, my boss wants me to get certified in copper welding and furnace pipe welding as well. To be honest, I’m a little nervous about it because it’s definitely not as easy as welding stainless steel or carbon steel. 😂
For the copper heat exchanger, I used 130 amps, 0.5 liters of argon for purging inside the heat exchanger, and an argon flow rate of 14 liters per minute at my TIG torch. I used pure argon, not an argon-helium mixture, because we only use the argon-helium mix for our qualification tests.

I also want to mention that I’m not a walk-the-cup welder. I weld freehand because walk-the-cup is prohibited at our company.

Honestly, I found welding copper really difficult. It feels like you’re blasting one spot with 130 amps for three minutes straight, and absolutely nothing happens. Then, as soon as something finally starts happening, everything melts away really quickly. 😂

Conflicted

Boss is making us weld structural sch 40 for a facade downhill using only spray transfer with 0.35 wire. I personally don’t think the penetration is there. I’ve tried to suggest using ds fluxcore but that got shot down quickly even though I have passed the company 6g test. The real question, should I worry about it or just weld them out and it’s their problem now?
