Forest Red-tailed Black Cockatoos spotted at a remnant banksia woodland near my home. I believe the tree they're feeding on is Coastal Blackbutt (Eucalyptus todtiana)...?

There were four of them in total but I couldn't get them together in the same frame. RtBC typically only raise one young at a time. Maybe an older sibling stuck around for a bit longer. Or maybe the parents got super lucky.

They're so hard to see in the grass. I was nearly on top of this group of six-ish before I saw them. Glad they didn't mind me standing right next to them taking pics. This portrait was my favourite.

I tried my hand at editing it but I am not that good with nature photography so any tips would be appreciated :)

*Been pointed out that it is a King Parrot not a Lorikeet!

Apparently I’ve reached the age where spotting a tawny frogmouth is genuinely the highlight of my Saturday. 😂

I’ve read that tawny frogmouths often stay in the same territory for years, so I’m now choosing to believe this little guy is my new neighbour.

Naturally, I’ll be checking this tree every day from now on.

Video Voiceless baby magpie 🤔

• Upvotes

Hi everyone! ❤️ One of my baby magpies (around 2 months old) seems to have lost his voice over the past three days. He used to beg loudly, but now only a faint, scratchy sound comes out despite trying to call. Otherwise, he’s completely healthylooking, active, eating and breathing normally.
What could be causing it, and should I be worried?

I'm not the best photographer with the best equipment, but I saw some really cool stuff, espesh the very rare Regent Honeyeaters.

Image A pair or juveniles?

My sister is a bird watcher and I tag along at times so I’m not great at knowing what I am looking at when she’s not with me. I saw these two Sacred Kingfishers hanging around the same hollow and was wondering if they’re a pair or if they’re fledglings or something else. Thanks 😊
