Any singers like heart or Fleetwood Mac
Seeking vocalist for blues-psychedelic-folk rock project. Age 20-35. Seeking someone with the grit and soul of Ann Wilson or Stevie Nicks. Message if interested.

If your band/project only posts promo stuff and you're not even interacting with the people who are nice enough to engage with it your thread's getting nuked. Buy an ad if that's all you want.
Also this really isnt the subreddit for selling concert tickets. Plenty of other places on reddit available for that.

Hi. I'm Jude (drummer) and Todd is our singer/guitarist. We are putting together a new heavy project in Austin.
We are looking for a bass player who can move mountains and a second guitarist to add weight and flavor. The ability to do backup/harmony vocals is a huge plus. You should have solid, appropriately loud gear and ideally have been around the block with live shows, touring, recording, etc. The goal of the project is to play shows ASAP. It doesn't matter if the name of the project eventually changes.
If you're into the demos, shoot us some examples of your playing. Cheers!

Hi,
Dad here looking to play once a week with a songwriter or possibly chill jazz band. I'm a singer/songwriter bassist first and I want to play simple drums. I don't want to do anything crazy technical, my timing is good and I play for the song. Seeing what's out here. I can help with songwriting or covers are fine. Let me know thanks.

This is Paige, the vocalist for a local post hardcore project called Calfcain, as well as its main songwriter and producer.
We debuted our first single “Bloodshot” in July, and are set to record our next two singles.
I wanted to put a call out to see if there are any musicians in Austin with a shared influence who would be interested in being part of the project.
Our main influences are Thrice, Emery, and Hrvrd.
All musicians are welcome, as well as musicians who work in strings, woodwinds, brass, and orchestral percussion.
Please drop a comment below if this interests you, we are always looking for musicians with a similar sound!
Bonus points if you’re an emo with a marching band or theater background…

I just finished recording my second EP, the problem is I played all the stuff myself and I don't have a way to play it live. I'd love to put a band together. I'm not interested in having people just play the recorded parts though, your creative input is highly encouraged!
Influences include Spoon, Wilco, Radiohead, Beatles, TMBG, Beck, Flaming Lips... you get the idea
I'd probably want to be on bass or guitar so looking for the rest of the pieces.
If you want to hear: https://www.animalsintrees.com links to all the various streamers are on here.
I live in the south Austin area around Saint Elmo, got a rehearsal spot in my home.
Cheers!

Hey everyone!
I'm Tino, the guitarist, songwriter, and producer behind Ghost Villain, an Austin-based alternative rock/dark pop project.
We've released our debut EP, picked up some international radio airplay, and have been actively working on booking more shows around Austin.
I'm looking to connect with vocalists interested in collaborating on new original music.
I can handle the songwriting, arrangements, instrumentation, recording, and production using Logic Pro, so I'm mainly looking for someone who can bring strong vocals and their own personality to the music.
I'm absolutely open to creative collaborations, songwriting contributions, and new ideas, but none of that is required. What matters most is finding someone who's enthusiastic, willing to contribute, and motivated to help move the project forward.
I've also got new material written and ready to go, so if you check out our existing releases on Spotify or other streaming platforms and dig the sound, we can potentially get started on something right away.
If you're working on your own original material, I'm open to collaborating on that as well. I enjoy building arrangements, developing song ideas, adding instrumentation, and helping turn demos into finished tracks.
Ideally, I'd love to work with people who are also motivated to get the music heard. Whether that's performing live, networking with other local musicians, connecting with venues, or helping promote releases, I'd like this to feel like a collaborative effort.
I'm open to different vocal styles, male or female singers, and potentially working with multiple vocalists on different tracks rather than having one permanent lineup.
I'm based in North Austin and would prefer connecting with musicians in that area or nearby, but I'm flexible for the right fit.
The music falls somewhere between alternative rock, indie rock, dark pop, atmospheric guitars, and some heavier influences.

Im so fucking bored. I need to make some songs. I have some ready to go.
I bought ableton and spent hours learning absolutely nothing. I can’t play my instruments and learn a new instrument at the same time. Computers just don’t compute with me.
I just wanna sing, maybe play some guitar/bass but I need a cool engineer/producer to collaborate with.
I like music that sounds like pop punk in outer space.

I saw a post a few days ago by somebody called muse something who was going off about Austin venue gatekeepers. I think they did a shit job making their point, but from first-hand experience, I can tell you the point they were trying to make is spot on.
Based on most of the comments I read, it looks like the mouth breathers in this community took what the muse person was trying to say as a personal attack on musicians and venues. Hell, some of them almost seemed to think the post was about them! That's understandable, given how poorly the post was written. But if you look at the rant closely (I tried to find it again, but it looks like it's been taken down), you'll see that the post was targeting the venue "gatekeepers" and the gamester system, not the venues or the musicians being booked by them.
I know several booking agents for Central Texas venues, and I can tell you straight from the source how the game is played. If you reach out to a local coffee shop that hosts artists just to be part of the music scene, or some other minor venue that regularly books musical acts, and try to book a date, you might be dealing with the owner or some employee who the owner has designated as the music booking agent. That person might be a barista, cook, dishwasher, or some other hands-on personnel, and they're usually not paid anything extra to handle the bookings. Since music isn't really the draw at one of these quasi-venues and the gigs usually pay nothing or next to nothing, you'll find a broadly diverse line-up of artists performing there. On any given night, there's no telling what genre or style of music you'll hear. Some might be folks who are just graduating from open mics, some are seasoned songwriters who want to try out new material, some are super talented artists who just like the feel of a listening room, and everything in between. Most of the time at these kinds of venues, there is no gatekeeper because the person booking the artists doesn't have a dog in the hunt.
Almost inevitably, though, the dishwasher who's been handling the booking either quits, or gripes about not being compensated for the extra work, or is just tired of putting up with prima donna musicians, and the owner/manager has to do something different. What often happens is the owner contacts one of the artists who have been playing on a semi-regular basis, and asks them if they'd be interested in handling the booking (I know this to be the case because this is how my friends who book for venues got the gig). Now, you have to understand that from the artist/booking agent's point of view, this is like a fox being asked to guard the henhouse. The new booking agent has been given a guaranteed residency at the venue, and, not only that, they can book their friends, who will then return the favor by showing up at the booking agent's shows and the shows of the other friends who are part of the booking agent's clique. The booking agent becomes the indispensable gatekeeper of the venue who only books their cronies, and by doing so, they ensure that the revenue to the venue from food and drink sales increases because of the guaranteed attendance at all the shows. It becomes an incestuous love fest. And the gatekeeper/booking agent guards the lineup of artist participants closely, which is why you don't receive replies from so many of those emails you send out to venues.
There are a few artists in Austin who have opened shop as booking agents and work with multiple venues. The game for them is essentially the same. That's why you see the same names playing on a rotational basis at the more prominent venues and the artist/booking agent/gatekeeper is regularly featured.
Now, none of this situation is the fault of an artist, or the booking agent/gatekeeper, or the venues. The blame, if there is any, falls squarely on a system that rewards cronyism and nepotism, and discourages diversity and opportunity. Which means that instead of facilitating and supporting a multitude of opportunities for folks to gain experience and hone their craft in front of an audience (even if it's just their two friends and a next-door neighbor) right alongside more seasoned, and maybe more talented, artists, it creates a situation where WHO YOU KNOW is much more important than WHAT YOU KNOW.
Thank the goddess there are still some venues in town where personal connections aren't the secret password to the speakeasy. But those are few and are dwindling by the day.
There are more than enough venues left in Austin to showcase all kinds of styles, genres, and sounds. The asinine comments I read on the post directed at muse were ridiculous. They attacked the musical style and sound of the writer, when anyone who is a lover of music knows there is a place for everyone. Hell, has anyone ever heard someone criticize Neil Young's vocals? I damn sure have, and he's undeniably one of the most prolific and successful songwriters and performers of the last 50 years. And no one with a set of ears would claim Jesse Welles is a crooner, but he can pack ACL. So, to the idiots who said the writer's voice wasn't that good or the musical stylings or record production was sub-par, I suggest y'all pull your heads out of your collective asses and redirect your attention to where the issue lies: at the SYSTEM, and not other artists.
I'm signing off now and likely won't be back to engage in the petty name-calling and tactless criticism. I'll leave y'all with this, though. Go to half-priced books and pick up a used copy of a critical inquiry textbook, or check out a YouTube video on reading comprehension for those of y'all with 4th-grade literacy, and LEARN HOW TO THINK so that the next time you read a poorly written post from a seemingly frustrated comrade, you can see past your personal bias and insecurities and understand what's actually being said.
Much love to all.

Hi, I’m an independent alternative artist with a dark alt sound…What venues should I reach out to? I used to perform all over Austin pre-Covid, some venues I played are: Scoot Inn, Hole in the Wall, 29th St Ballroom, and more. But I’m not sure how things are now, since it’s been a few years. Hoping to find spaces that are open to undiscovered artists and vibe with my music style. I’ve played some small festivals and have lots of performance experience, but it’s just been a couple of years. I have new music coming out and want to get out and perform again.🖤

Please read entire post before responding. Serious inquiries only.
I am an Austin-based producer/engineer of 20 years with a complete recording studio. I am currently being pushed out of my space and looking for a like-minded musician/producer/engineer with a physical space to house a recording studio. I have a LOT of gear. I will collaborate on any modifications (acoustic treatment, cabling, lighting, etc.). The ideal space would be soundproof (if in an urban residential area) or in a rurally secluded location. I do not need living space. I prefer an arrangement that focuses on songwriting, recording, and production -- not rehearsals.
All serious, potential candidates will be background checked and will need at least 3 professional music industry references. I will encourage you to do the same on me. Vibe and work ethic are important.
I am listing some photos of my current studio that is in a Hill Country home. This will give you an idea of the space required. I will also list most of my gear. I am not listing things like cables, patchbays, pop filters, etc. which I have. I am also an electronic engineer and have a complete repair and restoration setup and repair and restore amps, tape machines, and most music gear.
If you are interested, let's meet over a beverage or lunch and discuss.
This gear is not for sale.

Hey everyone,
I’m a bassist looking to build out a full lineup with two guitarists and a drummer (ages 25–40) for a progressive metalcore / post-hardcore project.
The Vibe & Influences
High-energy, technical riffing, tight grooves, dynamic vocal shifts, and heavy melodic hooks.
FFO: ERRA, Spiritbox, Polaris, Hollowfront, Currents, Protest The Hero, Stolas, Dance Gavin Dance, Sleeping With Sirens, Div3r, A lot like birds, Periphery, SkiTh, Hail The Sun
Where The Project Is At & What We're Building
Vocalist Locked In: Working alongside a dedicated vocalist/lyricist.
Music Pipeline: I have 1 of 5 songs release ready, working on the second now.
Collaborative Focus: I’m looking for musicians who are writers and songwriters. I want players who can take the foundation and ground-level elements we've started with and help build, evolve, and expand on them as a full band.
The Goal: This is a kind of slow burn project at the moment, we want to start identifying musicians who could potentially help us finish the other songs as well as be a full time member. Once we release more songs we’ll start establishing rehearsals, polish the set, and launch into playing local shows hopefully this next year.
Requirements / What We’re Looking For
Location: Based in or near Georgetown, TX (or willing to commute to the Georgetown / North Austin / Temple area for rehearsals once established).
Gear: Gig-ready, professional-grade gear (digital modeling/processors like Quad Cortex/Kemper/Fractal or high-gain tube rigs with click/backing-track capability is a huge plus for live setup). Guitar pro 8, reliable transportation
Mindset: Creative collaborators who show up prepared, low-drama, and ready to push a polished live product.
If you’re interested, shoot me a DM with some audio/video clips of your playing or links to past projects you’ve been part of, and let’s talk!

Hello🖤 I used to perform all over Austin before Covid, under a different stage name. I’m starting over as an independent artist, Kemah Lindy. My friend and I recorded my debut single in my bedroom then filmed it by ourselves on a $100 budget. Hoping to get back into live performances soon and would love to connect with anyone.

I've been teaching myself to play bass since early July, and I feel like I'm mostly continuing on my own. But I also know that I'm probably unaware of at least a few bad habits, or don't know the difference between personal quirks and things I'm going to regret later. So I'd like to have one, maybe two sessions with a bass teacher, to catch and correct anything that needs it.
Two problems here:
1) What I've seen advertised online seems to be set up solely around lessons continuing over a long period.
2) I'm broke. Just put the car in the shop for repairs that I don't know how we're going to pay for, and we're going through bankruptcy proceedings. I'd need to work out some kind of trade arrangement for another service, like clerical/admin work, or even writing. (I usually write lyrics and poetry, but I can put together some mean prose in various forms, when necessary.)
Should I try to find someone willing to trade? If so, recommendations on where and how to start looking?
If it's better to wait until I have money, how do I make sure I'm not just reinforcing anything to my detriment in the mean time?
Are there any places that offer some kind of free evaluation service or something?
TL;DR - About 3 months into teaching myself bass, and looking for a one-off session or two with an actual teacher, to identify and correct bad habits; but can't afford to pay for lessons right now. Hoping there's a way to do some kind of skill swap for it, or even be critiqued for free.
