Voting by mail issues

Hey yall, I mailed by ballot in October 7 and I just called the Collin County voting clerk and they haven’t received my ballot…. Has anyone been experiencing this with your mail in ballot? For context I’m a Active Duty Member reason why I’m voting by mail. I’ve voted by mail multiple times and I can’t help but think my ballot has been lost….

Did anyone else receive a fake trans rights flyer?

Fake flyers from a nonexistent trans rights group is showing up in voters’ mailboxes, fueling right-wing hysteria.

Right-wing groups have sent this out to people as early voting early begins, targeting conservatives to think this is a real trans rights organization that encourages emancipation from your parents.

Goodwin challenges incumbent Lt. Gov. Patrick for most powerful state office in Texas - So will Texans vote for her?

Vikki Goodwin’s Lt. Governor race is SO CRUCIAL. Do Texans know that this role has more power over lawmaking than the Governor?

Just curious, because I still haven’t hear many people giving this race the importance it deserves! Vikki Goodwin has so many good policy ideas like her plan for THC regulation and healthcare!

Do you all know about her priorities, the role of Lt. Governor, and what this race means for Texas?

Texas (local's) travel tips

As the title says, I'm looking for local's travel tips & hidden gems of Texas - mainly in the San Antonio/Austin/Houston areas.

I've been around many years ago but now planning a trip for next spring around feb-april. Ideally, some more western stuff like rodeo (keeping currently an eye on the rodeo artist lineup, as I'd like to see some country singers) but also any horse ranches, honkey tonks etc stuff. So no partying at the 6th street, been there and done that already ;)

Any tips or recommendations are welcome!

Does anyone else find the talarico and ken paxton ads hilarious when you compare them?

The ads are very funny when you compare the severity of them. Talaricos ads are about paxton giving a sex offender a 30 day jail plea deal and not having to register on the sex offender list or how he has been investigated multiple times for fraud and has been impeached and how he is backed by billionaires like elon musk and will most likely do the bidding of them. Ken paxton ads are like " Talerico is weird very wierd". He calls talerico a communist which is completly false if you know what communism means and what his policys are. He also says talerico wants boys in womens sports which talerico said he didnt want and he is also saying talerico wants kids to have gender reassignment surgery which is also something talerico is against. Another one is that he only wants to use clean energy and no more gas which is also false.

Voting ID

After moving back to Houston, I updated my DL and registered.to vote. I have my voter registration card, but misplaced my DL with my current Houston residence. I had it last week because I had to use it to enter a building. I have traced my steps and called the last places I visited and have not been able to find it. I do however have a DL from when I lived in Austin that is not expired. I also have my birth certificate, utility bills, mortgage statement and a letter for TEC. Is that enough information to cast a ballot ?

Why has a Democrat not been elected in Texas in 30 years?

As you might know, Republicans have won every statewide election in Texas for 30 years. Much redder states have elected at least one Democrat, but not Texas. Why is that? Is Texas really just that red?

Anything weird happen at your early voting location?

The place I went to in Arlington had a diabetic man collapse at the poll, and it turned into a big argument between the volunteers over wether they should pause voting until the paramedics arrive. The guy was fine and communicati g with people that he needed his insulin, and asked for a pillow.

They decided to let people keep coming and just avoid the row where the man was down, but about 1pmin later when paramedics arrived, the same guy who argued to not let anyone in started shouting they had to pause the line because they were out of paper for something.

Whole situation felt really fishy.

Have no idea what to do, tried calling them didnt get help. Idk is it helpful but rn i have Limiter Term license and before i was always using ITIN number, but after getting Green card i started using SSN. (also tried buying it from different website like IDRIVESAFELY, but xax same thing they didnt send, emailed them they just refunded me money saying "I regret to inform you that we've been trying to access your Official Texas DPS Driving Record, but it seems the Texas DPS server is giving us a bit of trouble.")

Talarico leads Paxton in most recent polls. For those who’ve followed his time in the Texas House, what has he actually gotten done?

Most recent polls I’ve seen have Talarico slightly ahead of Paxton. The polling average on Kalshi’s page is about 48 to 46, and Kalshi’s odds favor him too, though bettors aren’t voters.

Between the attack ads and the campaign ads, sometimes it’s hard to tell what he’s actually done in the Texas House. For people who’ve followed the him, which bills or votes of his stand out to you?

Curious what people here actually know about his record.

on your voter registration. Just take your Driver's License and/or passport, mail addressed to you, as many forms of ID as you can muster. They HAVE TO allow you to vote.

What happens to TEFA if Abbott loses?

Lt. Governor Dan Patrick says “we could lose Texas in three weeks”. His opponent, Vikki Goodwin is polling ahead. Could she win?

1.3k Upvotes

Dan Patrick says “we could lose Texas in three weeks”, Lt. Governor opponent Vikki Goodwin says she wants to bring about change, after Republicans have been in control for 30 years.

4- term State Rep. Vikki Goodwin, the democratic candidate for Lt. Governor who is running against incumbent Dan Patrick, has been also touring Texas.

During the campaign trail, she’s made affordability, public education, THC legalization (with sensible reform), healthcare, and data center regulation her biggest priorities.

Vikki Goodwin has also presented a comprehensive healthcare plan which would benefit EVERY Texan. (available on her campaign website)

What do we think? Can Texans actually elect a democratic candidate who has real policy proposals?

Should Talarico, Hinojosa and Goodwin demand an audit if they lose?

I've lost suspected that elections in Texas are rigged. They should demand an audit if they lose. Finally expose Republicans' cheating.

Why are there no ads with Paxton himself in them?

Been seeing all the Texas PAC commercials from the Republicans and none of them have Paxton himself speaking. Talarico doesn’t seem to have any problems getting before the camera. Maybe it’s just the media I consume

r/AskTexas • • 7d ago

From Ken Paxton making up a bold faced lie that James Talarico was in a mental institution, to trump (once again) lying that Americans will receive a $5k check if they vote republican, it’s getting hard to keep up with the BS. Why do republicans constantly feel the need to lie as a strategy to win?

And conversely, why are people stupid enough to just believe it at this point?

Whatever happened to actually having a platform? Or are people so easily swayed with partisanship that they’d vote for a dead billy goat just because it had on a MAGA hat?

What do we do if Paxton and the Republicans win?

What do we do if Paxton and the Republicans sweep in November? Do we give up on Texas ever being blue, or even purple?
