unlimited AI but no AI

So my uni gave all students infinite tokens on any AI of our choosing as an incentive to get us to use it and learn about proper prompting. I however don't really use AI nor do I trust it's answers. HOWEVER it would be a waste as a broke collage student not to use everything that's available to me so how can I incorporate AI to my student life.

Bonus question, If someone had a grudge on the uni wouldn't this be a great opportunity to cost it some money? Like tokes aren't cheap and I don't think they have a contract with every AI company for a discount.

destroying a old phone

I have a old phone (iPhone 7 pro max) that have been deactivated and running on no electricity for two or three years now, and no longer capable of turning on

I plan to finally throw it away after leaving it in my cabinet for years, though im uncomfortable throwing it away when it still has my data inside that I am unable to delete since I can’t turn it on

what would be the best way to destroy the data inside my phone without hurting myself (broken glass cutting me/toxic chemicals)?

i was thinking of carefully dropping it into hot water for an hour, but idk

Can my dad see what I do on my devices?

This may seem insane, but I (39f) am worried that my dad (66m) can somehow see what I’m doing on my devices.

When I was around 11, so about 1998, my dad got really mad about an AIM message I received on my computer in my room. He was never in my room, but he was a computer guy. He worked at a computer software type company.

I’ve never figured out how he was able to see that message, so I have no idea how savvy he is. I don’t know if there was mirroring software back then or how he had access to everything I did on my computer. Because I don’t know how he did it, I’ve always been concerned about my privacy.

Can I safely assume that he’s not able to see what I’m doing now, in 2026?

AI, technology renting and HW for substription

Hey! I am a hobbyist when it comes to pcs and hardware in general. I'm the guy who installs OS for everyone in the family and builds their PCs, fixes their phones but lacks the foresight for the industry.

My questions, from my recent experience and readings online, is such : is this kind of the end of people owning their hardware? At leasty when it comes to laptops and pcs.

Maybe the AI bubble is going to burst, sure, and i do hope so, as i am a 2D artist by profession, BUT I find that difficult to count on. And so lets say it doesnt, or at least the bubble size isnt reduced that much. That leaves us with PC parts that are more and more expensive, consoles will no longer be worth paying for, for the average joe and at that point i can legit only see the future as everyone having some very low end devices (or phone) that you use to connect to a server that lends you its wast resources, for a subsription. The only way i could imagine this not happening is if the prices are too high even for streaming companies to get builds to rent.

I mean, i kind of expected at least game developers to start making games for lower spec pcs, but then you get metro 2039 with its insane requirements - who can realistically afford to play such a game nowadays for it to sell well?

Alright, maybe my income is too low recently and that's influencing my view on things, but I would appreciate your thoughts on the matter, thank you!
