We all know how much Mrs. Slocombe's customer enjoyed his ministrations when he lost his chalk. I was rewatching Hooray for the Holidays and i was shocked about how handsy he was here. He, and Capt. Peacock, react similarly to Mr. Humphries' on the fence attitude, but here he is right in the excitement.

I just discovered that Audible has Are You Being Served available on audiobook. 8 episodes, over the course of the entire series. It's essentially the original audio recording from each episode, with brief descriptive narration by Wendy Richard.

For me, I can enjoy it in my car or at work.

I've been watching AYBS since it was first released in the 70s. I have a episode on in the background and I've just noticed something. The female staff all wear a uniform. The male staff wear whatever they want as long as it is a suit. The episode is a series 10 episode. Was it like this all the way through?

Mr Lucas would've did pretty well with commissions in the ladies department especially with the older ladies. 🤭

Was is common in those days for people not to own cars? As I recall they all took public transportation. I can see Miss Brahms and Mr Lucas and maybe Mr Humphries not being able to afford cars. I would have thought that Mrs Slocum, Captain Peacock and Mr Rumbold and the senior menswear associates would have owned one.

It almost blows my mind wondering how the pleasant, friendly and helpful Mavis could possibly be related to the loud, obnoxious, dirty and potentially abusive Mr. Moulterd. They have absolutely nothing in common. Is he really taking the strap to his 20-something daughter?

The way Mr Humphries gives that little startle slays me.
