From Polaroid to Arbitrum — We built a photography platform that wouldn't exist without Arbitrum One.
What if blockchain could bring real value back to photography?
Hey Arbitrum community!
We'd love to introduce Pola, a live iPhone photography platform that wouldn't have become a reality in its current form without Arbitrum One.
But our story didn't begin with blockchain. It began with an iconic invention from the past: the original analog Polaroid instant camera. 📸
One photograph. One moment. One original.
The magic of classic Polaroid photography was that every shot produced a single physical original. No endless digital copies. No infinite editing.
We wanted to bring that philosophy into the digital age.
In a world increasingly flooded with AI-generated images, advertising, and engagement-driven algorithms, we wanted to build something different.
That's how Pola was born.
An ad-free photography community where every image is captured directly through a camera. No uploading from the camera roll. No automatic saving of captured photos to the phone's photo library. No AI image generation or AI editing tools.
And with Pola Pro, photographers can even use CCAPI-compatible Canon cameras.
But how do you give a photograph a verifiable digital original?
That's where Arbitrum One enters the story. 🔷
Every photograph published on Pola becomes a unique 1/1 NFT, authenticated on Arbitrum One, with IPFS-based image storage.
The goal isn't to make digital image data impossible to copy. It's to establish one verifiable original with clearly defined ownership.
Why Arbitrum?
Because making Pola economically viable required three things: fast transactions, reliable blockchain infrastructure, and extremely low network fees.
We didn't want blockchain authentication to be a luxury reserved for wealthy NFT collectors. We wanted it to be accessible to everyday photographers.
High gas fees would have made that vision economically impossible.
Arbitrum One's speed and low transaction costs made it possible for Pola to charge a service fee of just $0.50 worth of ETH per published photograph, plus the variable, low Arbitrum network gas fee.
And this is about much more than technology.
It's what makes our ad-free business model possible.
We don't need to flood the platform with advertising. We don't need engagement-manipulating algorithms designed to keep people scrolling endlessly. Our service fees help support the platform, while our closed camera-based capture system is designed around authentic photography.
🔐 YOUR WALLET. YOUR DECISION.
We integrated MetaMask directly into Pola. Users review and approve blockchain transactions within their own MetaMask wallets, keeping control of transaction confirmations in their own hands.
But there's something else we wanted to change.
On traditional social media, a photograph often earns nothing more than a few hearts or likes.
Why should that be the only value a creator gets from their work?
🎨 CREATE. COLLECT. EARN.
On Pola, photographers can offer their unique digital originals for sale, while others can buy and collect them.
On every successful sale, the seller receives 95% of the sale price. Pola charges just a 5% marketplace fee. Any applicable blockchain transaction costs are additional.
Photography can become more than content to scroll past. It can become a verifiable digital original with real ownership and the opportunity to earn from creative work.
Pola is already live on the App Store. 🚀

REALITY DOESN'T NEED A PROMPT.
Finally, a huge thank you to the r/Arbitrum moderators for allowing us to share our project, and to the Arbitrum community for giving us the opportunity to introduce what we've built!
We'd genuinely love to hear your thoughts.
What other possibilities do you think Arbitrum could unlock for creators?
For us, one thing is certain:
Without Arbitrum One, Pola wouldn't exist in the form we've built it today.
Thank you, Arbitrum! ❤️🔷
