Discussion Does Yukito ever talk about Another?
Since his most famous works are the Murder House series(like the Decagon House, Mill House, Clockwork House), does he ever talk about Another in interviews?

Before now I've only seen the anime and actually just finished my yearly October rewatch. However I learned about the other novels and bought both Another S/O and Another 2001. As much as I'd like to read the og Another I dont really have the money to get it right now and I'm also too excited to start the other 2. So is there anything differences or things I should know from the og novel before starting?
Thanks so much for any help!

I don’t really post in this subreddit and usually lurk, but I had one of my favorite manga panels tattooed on my leg last month and thought I’d share <3
>!There is no beach in Yomiyama, at least according to the light novel. I honestly can't remember whether this was changed in the anime, since there is an episode set at the beach. So, based on that alone, we could already conclude that the Extra Student of that year can leave the city, since Sakakibara's aunt was there with them.
But going back to the books, this is confirmed in Another Episode S. Teruya Sakaki spent three months outside the city at his father's mansion with his friends, who were afraid of the curse. He took a picture with them, and in that photo, there is an unnatural gap, as if someone were missing. And someone really was missing: Satsuki Shinomiya. This is revealed at the end of the book, when Mei puts the pieces together. Satsuki was the calamity that year, which is why she disappeared from the photograph.
So, this means that the Extra Student can officially leave the city, even though the curse only affects people in that town. What would happen if someone who had studied with Satsuki in the year she died had left the city and encountered her outside Yomiyama in 1987, after she returned as the calamity?
We know that the curse only affects people in that town. Sakakibara's father knew that Sakakibara had been to Yomiyama, even though the curse wouldn't let him share that information. Whenever they spoke on the phone, there was always static.!<
I genuinely enjoyed Another Episode S, but after finishing it yesterday, I can't get one thought out of my head: what a waste. Teruya Sakaki is far too interesting a character to be portrayed in this way and nothing more.
>!To me, the author missed the opportunity to create an Another 1987, with Sakaki as the protagonist. The plot surrounding Sakaki's final words (“Tsu... ki...”) made me think about this.
It was impactful to learn that the only person Sakaki ever loved romantically, Satsuki, was the calamity of that year. But imagine if, instead of seeing it through Mei's perspective, we experienced everything through Sakaki's eyes. Imagine living through it all with him: falling in love with someone, sharing cute moments, watching the disasters begin, and having that person become a paradise amidst the chaos (ironic, isn't it?).
You go through traumatic experiences together, like the deaths of your friends. You grow closer and closer, eventually start dating, and promise never to leave each other's side. Then, at the end of the school year, just when you finally feel relieved that both Sakaki and Satsuki have survived, she simply disappears out of nowhere.
Imagine Sakaki's desperation, his agony. Nobody remembers the person he loves so deeply, and he begins to forget her, too. She disappears from every photo they ever took together, and all records of her are erased. Imagine the emptiness you'd feel after finishing a book like that, that sense of defeat even after achieving victory by surviving.!<

P.S. Novels are my least favorite medium of the 3 but I want to enjoy the whole story.

I mean this anime is brutal as hell I won't lie but Takao was the only death that seemed to make mei truly freeze like in every other death she has her detachment but this one she really looks shocked and terrified

I see many people saying the show would be better off as a comedy but then when i look at their reasoning its a completely misconstrued take on the anime. I really enjoyed the show and wanted to see if people had any good reasons the show would be "better watched as a comedy"

Is when Sou saw his cousin Izumi jumping off the bridge, despite being the extra one, that they have a nice brother-sister relationship, and seeing that Izumi is the extra one must've been traumatizing him.
The second one is when Sou tells his mom that he hates her and his stepsister; what makes this sad is that this is the last time we see Sou talking to his mom in the novel, a sad scene.

Im watching the anime again and i noticed that the way Misaki shows her love for someone is by scaring them, mostly sakakibara in this case. I dont know if this is related to her non-existence situation, but it was funny to figure this out. Like, if this guy is not scared with stuff im talking about, he can stay talking to me lol

Does anyone have any links for Sou Hiratsuka illustrations? Or even fan arts if possible, I would like to see what he looks like so that I could potentially draw him.

I watched the anime and the novel took but they didn't I mean the author didn't clarify what was the exact reason those incidents happened and how to or how it will be stopped. They just assumed that the Misaki incident is the reason but what was the actual reason and Misaki never showed itself as a ghost who will say the actual reasons, the mystery is still a mystery after reading the whole 2 volume book, do I need to read the manga? Will it reveal everything? Man I'm dying to know that!

So as the title says, I started with the anime years back, read the manga, then S/0 and finally 2001 when it came out. But I’ve been curious whether people think it’s worth reading the original novel as well? I understand there’s a few differences between the OG novel, manga and anime, but I guess as we’re getting into spooky season I’m debating a re-read and wondering whether to read through the novels start to finish this time around

I'm Kind of curious to know
mainly cause I'm writing a fic who focuses on kouichi's son who's a 14 year old kid in 2026 who ends up dragged into a calamaty...in tokyo
and I wanted to see if Mei and Kouichi are just friends or no there's something more so that it can be lore accurate
if you know anything from anime manga novel or the sequel series please tell me

So I've finished Another 2001, and let's say it's quite a read, and quite sad, for Sou seeing classmates dying, Izumi dying(despite being the extra), his friend almost committing suicide, and telling his mother that he hates her, including his sisters. It almost made me cry; Sou has been through a lot, though at the same time, the interaction between Sou and Mei is quite nice, and the same with Kochi, despite him not being present a lot.
I feel like the two most intense scenes are when Izumi jumps off the bridge and that phone call with his mom; the sad thing is that was the last time that Sou talked to his mom in the story, which is quite sad.
I would say, when Another 2009 gets published, I hope it revolves around Kiha, because I feel like she could have powers like no other; she's an odd character.
