Systems Theory
Something I have noticed is that Anarchist theory talks a lot about systems and systems theory while other forms of socialism don’t even really mentioned such ideas except for the rare occasion of mentioning the Marxist idea of the Base and Super-Structure. Why is that?

Suggest some audio visual resources
Hey Compagnons! I have a reading disability. Could you share any video series, lectures, documentaries or general essays in video form...that will equip me with a solid foundation of anarchist theory! It would honestly be appreciated. I just finished anarchy by Malatesta, even though it was thin af, it took me nauseating 2 days to finish it, fighting the dancing letters and other issues i face.
I'd be grateful if you take the time out to help me out. Thank you!

Equal air time.
24 hour news cycle is a dead format, or it is only watched by the dead. Can you imagine if they gave equal air time in street interviews with anarchists? Could you imagine if they gave anarchists highlighted even one interview out of ten? The coverage of politics by those who declared violent dominion over the electromagnetic spectrum has always been biased and unfair.

Map of the spread and establishment of the anarchist movement in France
I did this map some months ago and I just note that it's totally subjective and based on my small experience of anarchist history
For example, Alsace-Lorraine which were by this point in Germany, I had to do with very little elements, for other areas such as Lyon it's much more clear, anyways !

White Fragility And The Appeal Of Nationalism
It's amazing for me to see so many people from Western countries pointing at the US, relishing how the elitist and meddling country is facing its own hardship. They say, 'Our country doesn't have these problems! Our country is well-off! We're handling this just fine! No mass shootings or hysteria in sight!' - And they're patting themselves on the back. I see this as deeply naive. I'm specifically referring to nationalist countries like Canada, Poland, Norway, Netherlands, Denmark, Sweden, Iceland, and Turkey.
What do these countries plan for the near future? How will they navigate climate change, mass migration, bulwarking? How will they deal with the drug crisis, biochemical weapons, or financial/cyber warfare? They seem unprepared to me, and when they should be busy at work, they reinforce their social status and more or less continue as usual. Nature does not concern itself with human affairs. The war is not concerned with countries that have a few million people. Their hubris is their downfall. Their advantageous position is taken for granted, and the future hardship we will have to endure is written off.
They comfort themselves with their superiority, while feeling a deep sense of fear about their future. And why is that? Because they lost their military ally? And both allies that have a functioning navy? When having a navy is crucial to obtaining a military victory? They know they have lost their advantage and now instead of doubling down they recede into their ethnicity, their nation, their borders. The Union is fragmenting and won't last even 50 years at this rate. And I'll add, I talked about this in December of 2023:
This is mostly an illusion. I'd say Europe has 20-40 years more runway than the US. As you said, Europe's social safety net and legal system are strong. Regardless, these systems will buckle as climate change decimates Europe through drought, storms, war, etc. These issues are as urgent as one could imagine. Humanity is playing a game of chicken and we're the ones who will lose -- while the rich hide in their bunkers. [post]
In conclusion, I believe this hubris is a danger to us all. It's unbelievable to me after all this, given where we're at, that they haven't learned from the situation. Now is the time. We must all set aside our ego, our pride, and take ownership of our future.

How to Organise?
I would like to be more active politically, but I don't know any anarchist organisations in the place where I live. How do I find anarchists such as myself, so that we could actually engage in political actions? It might be worth noting that I don't have a lot of friends and am quite socially awkward.

Thoughts on matriarchism?
I would describe myself as an anarcha-matriarchist, and to define what matriarchy is in this context, I turn to r/matriarchynow's definition:
A matriarchy is a kinship-based, egalitarian community centered on maternal principles of care, nurturing, & sustainable relationship with the land. Collective well-being and consensus is prioritized over domination. Gender roles are flexible and resource distribution is based on need rather than accumulation. From the Greek etymologically: matri- (μήτρα) womb-like care, and -archē (ἀρχή) principles, or first; therefore, matriarchy is a social system that prioritizes care as a first principle
So, in my own words, and to add to it, it's prioritizing culturally feminine values over culturally masculine ones. So, those things we associate with women because most women make up those areas: therapists, social workers, teachers, nurses... all the care-based jobs are done primarily by women, so as a result as a society we associate caring with women - it's a feminine value. And in a matriarchy, it would be the one valued over the masculine value of cold calculation. I think this goes hand-in-hand with ideas like mutual aid, as that takes people to care about and for each other.
On another feminine value: collaboration and democracy
Meta-analyses on leadership styles thus found that female leaders tended to be more democratic, collaborative, and participative than male leaders. Male leaders, in contrast, were more likely to have a more autocratic and directive approach. Women thus did more of what is sometimes called “leading from behind,” that is, working with others to reach collective decisions.[source]
An anarchist society would naturally value collaboration and participation by its members and disincentivise autocratic styles, so it's again prioritizing a feminine value. And this is why I see anarchism and matriarchism as, not just compatible, but they go hand-in-hand. Women are less inclined to autocratic rule but we flock towards the care jobs and when leaders, we value others' viewpoints and take their feedback.
On another topic, it's why I think Proudhon was rather contradictory as he somehow valued a patriarchal family structure while advocating for anarchism. The two would, at some point, be at odds with each other as men created and designed the hierarchical structures we have with little to no say from women. That is what men were drawn towards while women were not. States and patriarchy were not born until after agriculture was, which, men chose to be degrading to nature with it and expressed desire to subjugate others, especially women, but also everyone through the state apparatus. A matriarchy would naturally be the opposite of each of the mechanisms from which patriarchy was born or came alongside of.
What does everyone else think though?

What is your take on the authoritarian left, primarily “Marxist”-Leninists?
Leninists have been a special interest of mine for a while, and it’s only been recently that I’ve come to a settled conclusion on them. Before they were quite the mystery to me.
I briefly made a stop at MLism after becoming radicalised against capitalism, but moved on fairly quickly after delving into anarchist theory, and since then I’ve only gone further down the road of the latter. What I find interesting though is that when I try to discuss anarchist theory and history with MLs they’re SO closed to it. Their perspectives don’t shift like mine did. It just doesn’t penetrate their consciousness. I then became casually obsessed with figuring out why this was the case.
I tried to take a good faith interpretation at first and seriously examine their arguments. But at a certain point that became impossible without ignoring historical consensus. It also became impossible, ironically, without ignoring Marx himself and much of his work.
The conclusion that I’ve come to is that they’re unconsciously motivated by something fundamentally different than anarchists, despite both being “anti-capitalist” on the surface.
They don’t actually dislike capitalism, they dislike their position within the current capitalist empire. They’re usually intellectuals with university degrees that are struggling in their careers more than they expected to be. They were sold a lie that by being bright, hardworking, and going to uni, they would be rewarded with positions of higher pay and influence than the masses of society. When this didn’t come to fruition for them, and they see that it most likely never will, they then naturally seek to rebel against the current system for its betrayal.
But they don’t actually care about the exploited masses, they care about fulfilling their birthright. The exploited masses provide an opportunity for this from their perspective as vanguardists. By promising to lead the masses to salvation, they can then ride them like a horse into power.
This is why they deny so much of reality concerning anarchist history. It’s because it pokes a hole in their unconscious desires. If mass emancipation is possible without the need for a group of supposedly enlightened, great leaders at the helm, then where is their place? Oh right, it’s just being a regular person, like everyone else. To be a nobody essentially. Which is precisely the thing they’re running from.
This is why throughout history ML regimes have often done more to sabotage anarchist movements, and worker-control in general, than capitalist empires. Because the personal desires of the vanguard depend on their being strictly ONE, SINGLE legitimate revolutionary method, as it is the one that ensures their self interests are fulfilled.

any text to distributing in strategic places through the city?
I'm organizing (buying some necessary materials) to print numerous copies of a text about anarchism to distribute in my city.
I was thinking of printing it as a zine or booklet and distributing it in strategic locations.
I thought David Graber's text ("Are You An Anarchist? The Answer May Surprise You!") would be the best option for this, since it can be printed on just two sheets of paper, allowing for a large number of copies to be made at low cost. It's also a simple and straightforward text.
My question is: am I choosing the right text, or is there a better option? If you have a better text in mind, please make your recommendation.
The conditions I'm considering for this text are:
1) that it be simple, direct, and easy to understand;
2) that it encourage anyone interested to delve deeper;
3) that it be short so it can be printed on just a few pages (this way, it's economically viable to produce large quantities for distribution)
thanks :)

Our Video Game About Anarchism Now Has A Kickstarter
Hey all, our soon-to-be-workers co-operative Circle-A Studios have been working on our first game together as a team for the past three years, Creatures Like Us.
We're a studio of anarchists, activists, squatters, and inexplicably super experienced game developers.
Creatures Like Us is an anarcha-queer punky narrative sim about squatting in abandoned buildings, creating community spaces, and smashing capitalism along the way. You are a crew of four friends in a five-minutes-into-the-future version of Bristol that must survive housing instability, corporate corruption, and squabbling over doing the dishes.
You can find our KS here!

New User Do y'all have any ideas for how to vaccinate the public against the strategies of Roy Cohn?
For those who don't know, Roy Cohn was a lawyer who got involved in politics and eventually became a mentor to Donald Trump. Kind of like Palpatine and Darth Vader.
In a nutshell, his strategies were to deny everything and attack anyone who accuses you until they back down. Classic manipulation and harmful behavior.
So my question is really two questions.
Do you have any ideas about how to basically update the collective mind?
Do you have any ideas about how to make the updating process happen quickly, rather than over the longterm? Catalytic rather than incremental.

BRAZIL OFFICIALLY LOST THE PLOT BRO...
WHAT IS THIS??? WHAT IS THIS????
I'M ASHAMED OF SHARING A COUNTRY WITH THESE PEOPLE, WHAT IN THE HELL MAN....
Supporters of the candidate "Flávio Bolsonaro" on a recent rally filled up a huge inflatable missile with the phrase "TRUMP N*KE BRAZIL" written on it....
These.... These.... I can't even call them what I wanna call them. They don't even know the magnitude of the things they're talking about. They don't even know what a nuclear weapon is even capable off, they only see this on videogames and movies, they thing this shit is a toy??
You don't even need to be an anarchist supporter to see this and yell, "WHAT THE HELL!"
If you ask me, in my personal opinion? These maggots aren't brazilian anymore.

Leaving the Contemporary Era, by artifices
endnotes has just published an english translation of an analysis of the secondary school student movement in france by the artifices collective. the text rejects the victimising and paternalistic interpretation of a left that sees only children in need of protection. according to this article, the movement owes less to the yellow vests than to the 2023 riots. demands regarding school resources are on the wane, and anger is increasingly directed at the school itself, as a machine for sorting the children of the working class. in this context, the call for "convergence" would serve primarily as a tool to pacify the rioting faction, whilst the state treats the movement as an urban riot to be crushed. ultimately this would be a sign of a crisis of reproduction that extends beyond france.
