New sub for LGBTQIA+ folks in Anaheim & OC looking for platonic friends

• Upvotes

I wanted to make a sub so all of my beautiful friends in the LGBTQIA+ community here in Anaheim and around OC will have a place to meet new friends, so I did here: r/lgbtqfriendsinoc! This is not a dating sub; purely platonic energy here. I've found there aren't enough like that to my tastes, so I decided to start this one! Feel free to join if that sounds fun to you!

Anaheim Utility planned outages

Has anyone had issues with Anaheim Utility not notifying customers regarding planned outages? This is the 2nd time that we were not notified. Just tonight around 8 pm power went out and I called and the guy said oh yeah it’s planned outage. I’m on 91 and East street Edison area.

The first time we called they brushed us off saying, “Oh, the flyer must have been taken by wind and we have Ring Cameras no one came and now tonight. I’m planning to seek reimbursement since o went to Costco and got groceries and meat.

If anyone else have the same issue please let me know.

Assault Anaheim Plaza - Tesla Charger - Road Rage

Hi all! Please help. Im looking for any information or videos or pictures. My husband was assaulted this morning (Saturday October 17) around 7:30a-8am at the Tesla chargers at the Anaheim Plaza. The guy was in an older model S wearing a hawaiian shirt. Any information would be super appreciated. This guy tried cutting the charging line, got out of his car and sucker-punched my husband in the jaw.

This project on La Palma between Tustin and Kramer is 1 year over schedule.

Those of us commuting on La Palma every day have to contend with a public works project that's over a year behind schedule and causing frustration. Can't imagine the residents of The Oasis Anaheim are thrilled about it going so long either.

Thankfully, the chain link around the site has come down and they may finally be wrapping this up.

What are your thoughts about this? If you live in The Oasis or work near here like I do, how has this impacted you?

Just wanted to say thank you to everyone!

Hey everyone!

I just wanted to take a moment to say thank you to everyone who showed support, left a kind comment, or expressed interest in my World Mental Health Day gathering at Downtown Disney this past Saturday.

And a special thank you to the moderators of r/Anaheim for allowing me to share my event with your community. I genuinely appreciate you giving me the opportunity to get the word out! 😊

Honestly, I was extremely nervous about putting myself out there and inviting complete strangers to something like this. 😂

I've never organized anything like this before, and I really didn't know what to expect.

But seeing the positive responses, encouragement, and kindness genuinely meant a lot to me.

The whole goal with it is pretty simple: bring people together, spread some positivity, and hopefully make somebody smile. 😊

I know everyone has their own struggles, whether we see them or not, and sometimes even a little kindness can make a difference.

World Mental Health Day is a day to spread awareness and remind people how important mental health is. But the reality is, mental health matters every single day, not just once a year.

Whether you spent the day with friends or family, went somewhere you enjoy, stayed home and relaxed, or simply tried to get through a difficult day, I genuinely hope you were able to find a little peace, happiness, or comfort. ❤️

And if you didn't, that's okay too. Some days are harder than others. Sometimes just getting through the day is enough.

Taking care of yourself looks different for everyone. You don't have to attend a gathering or do anything special to be part of what Outlast stands for.

And to everyone who couldn't make it out on Saturday, that's absolutely okay too!

I'm already planning another Outlast gathering at Downtown Disney on Sunday, December 6, 2026, during the holiday season! 🎄

I know the holidays can be a wonderful, cheerful time, but they can also be difficult or lonely for some people.

So I thought, why not try to bring some people together around the holidays? Not necessarily to celebrate them (and if you don't, that's totally fine!), but simply to enjoy the holiday lights and decorations, maybe make a new friend, and hopefully make somebody smile?

Same idea as before. Nothing formal, no pressure, no expectations, and everyone is welcome.

Rich or poor. Struggling or doing great. Outgoing or shy. Coming with 12 friends or coming completely alone.

And yes, I'll definitely be keeping an eye on the weather this time! 🕵️😂

Disneyland and California Adventure are also options for anyone who wants to visit the parks, but park admission is not required to participate in the Downtown Disney gathering.

More details coming soon!

Again, thank you all for the kindness, encouragement, and support. It really does mean more than you might realize.

And remember, you don't have to have everything figured out or be having a great day to deserve a little kindness.

Never give up. Outlast All. 💎

How loud is TOO loud for a garage door?

Our garage door has always been a little noisy but over the last couple months it's gotten ridiculous.

There's a popping/creaking noise when it first starts opening and then it rattles pretty hard the rest of the way up.

It still opens and closes normally.

Door is probably at least 10 years old but I'm not really sure.

Is this usually something that just needs lubrication/rollers or is this how springs start going bad?

Trying to deal with it before I wake up one day and can't get the car out.

Any garage door company recommendations around Anaheim are appreciated too.

I'm going to Downtown Disney alone for World Mental Health Day (Oct 10), so lI'm inviting complete strangers to join me

**UPDATE AT THE BOTTOM ⬇️

Hey everyone!

So this might be one of the more random things I've ever decided to do, but here goes. 😬

This Saturday, October 10, is World Mental Health Day, and I'm planning to spend part of the day at Downtown Disney in Anaheim.

I'm going alone, and I thought, why not invite other people to come along?

The idea is pretty simple. Bring people together, spread some positivity, and hopefully make somebody smile. 😊

Everyone is welcome.

Rich or poor. Struggling or doing great. Outgoing or shy. Coming with ten friends or coming completely alone.

There's no organized activity, no forced introductions, and absolutely no pressure to share anything personal or talk about mental health.

Want to walk around? Grab some food? Meet someone new? Great.

Want to just enjoy being around other people without having to socialize? That's fine too.

Or just enjoy being part of something. Maybe spend half the afternoon debating which Disney snack is superior. (We all know it's a churro.. 😋) Fantastic!

And just to be clear, I'm going alone myself, and I'm honestly pretty nervous about doing this. 😬

I've never organized something like this before. I'm just someone trying to put a little positivity out into the world.

Details:

🗓️ When: Saturday, October 10, 2026

🕛 Time: Whenever you want.. it's your journey

📍Where: Downtown Disney District, Anaheim, California

💵 Cost: No Disneyland admission ticket required. Parking, food, and other purchases may cost extra.

🧚🫅 Who: Anyone who wants to come.

This isn't therapy or a support group. You don't need to be struggling with your mental health to participate.

Maybe two people show up. Maybe twenty. Maybe nobody. But I figured I'd rather try than keep wondering what would've happened.

This whole idea actually came from something I created called Outlast.

The message behind it is simple: Never give up. Whatever you're facing, big or small, keep going.

I wanted to take that message beyond just words, push myself outside my own comfort zone, and hopefully bring some people together in the process.

If you're nearby and interested, you're welcome to join.

And if you're nervous about showing up alone, trust me, I understand. 🙃

Just showing up counts. 💪

**UPDATE: Another Outlast gathering is planned! 🎄💚❤️

I've had a few people mention they'd love to come but already have plans this Saturday. No worries at all! 😊

I'm also planning another Outlast gathering at Downtown Disney on Sunday, December 6, 2026!

I know the holidays can be a wonderful, cheerful time, but they can also be difficult or lonely for some people. So I figured, why not bring some people together, enjoy the holiday lights and decorations, and hopefully make somebody smile?

Same relaxed idea. No pressure, no expectations, and everyone is welcome!

More details coming soon!

If you can't make October 10, hopefully we'll see you December 6! 💚❤️

Want to stay connected?

If you can't make this gathering but would like to hear about future ones (including December 6! 🎄), you're welcome to follow Outlast on Instagram or join our Meetup group!

Absolutely no pressure or self promoting just giving everyone a way to stay connected. 😊

Getting around

Hi- I'm coming from UK next July for a vacation with two young kids for two weeks.

Obviously Disney is the draw, but we'd also like to head to the beach and maybe to Universal Hollywood and also San Diego. I've visited the area a couple of times previously but with a car and without kids so roughly know where things are and what to expect driving wise.

Given Disney is walkable, and parking seems to be outrageously priced, I was debating if ubering around was worth it. I also don't mind using public transport as long as it's relatively straight forward and maybe just hiring a car for some of the longer trips e.g San Diego or LA/Hollywood.

Any advice welcomed 😁

We’re in Fullerton but will travel anywhere in the North-Central OC area. Where would you want to go for your 30th birthday in OC? He also loves craft cocktails and tapas/fancy small plates if that gives any ideas. Thanks!
